Bandit probably got picked on a lot
in school over his name, but he must have been the one laughing all the
way to the bank with the wallets stolen from his tormentors. Apart
from some bosses like Popple and Croco, I can't think of another standard
enemy that steals like Bandit does. In Yoshi's Island, he wasn't
too concerned with harming Yoshi but would run up and steal Baby Mario
right off the dino's back, forcing him to chase afer the smiling thief.
This would have been more annoying if not for the fact that you'd probably
be thinking "Good! Let someone else suffer the bawling brat for a
while!" Bandit wasn't the only enemy in the game that could swipe
Mario but I think he was the most direct about it. The game also
provided chances for revenge as Bandits are sometimes found carrying coins
that can be swiped from them. For some reason, Bandit was also the
opponent in Yoshi's minigames; I guess he was trying to swipe the winnings
for himself, though it's hardly stealing if you win it. Bandits also
appeared in the Paper Mario series, where they can steal coins while causing
damage. They also have relatives that can steal items or even badges!
And all the Bandits will run away at the end of the next turn if they still
have their loot. But if you've got the Zap Tap Badge on, joke's on
them: they won't be able to steal a thing.
Bandit stole his way into Round Three of Season Two in Roy's Sports Hall, but was arrested by Baby Bowser. He also appeared in Season Seven but couldn't make it out of Round Two. In Season Nine, following victories over Count Cannoli and the Koopa Bros, Bandit ended up being officially named a three-week winner once again, despite being defeated in his third week by the Axem Rangers. A filler match against Dark Star, Bowser Castle, and Cannoli netted this thief his Round Three prize. But he may as well have gone home early anyway! Iggy knocked out Bandit before he could even really get going, before losing himself to Count Bleck.
Entering the Season Ten Tournament seeded 24th, Bandit refused to be intimidated by his massive first round opponent, Midbus, and appeared to have a great strategy. Midbus was so dense that the damage inflicted by Bandit seemed not to register and Bandit was ultimately defeated, getting eliminated from the tourney.
