I used to think this guy's name was Bloober, but I'm pretty sure that is a mistake.  This odd squid is an original member of the Koopa Troop, and a feisty one at that.  Mario never was quite as much at home in the water as on land (at least without a Frog Suit), and this guy's choppy movements don't help.  Even with fire power, it can be difficult to get above him to blast him away.  A quirk about Blooper is that he can't quite reach the seabed, so just stand on the ground or squat if you're big, and he can't touch you.  But that's not a lot of consolation when you must eventually swim up over a hole.  In some games Blooper can, understandably, shoot ink.  Less understandable is that he can also fly, at least if you believe in The Lost Levels.  Blooper hasn't quite received the attention bestowed upon many other original members of the Koopa Troop, but the oceans wouldn't be the same without him.

Neither would the Sports Hall.  Despite a slow start - Blooper lost to Jelectro in Season One, then after defeating Cheep Cheep in Season Two lost to Rip van Fish - he mimicked his own choppy movements and surged ahead, defeating Rip in a Round Two rematch and ultimately Baby Bowser for the season championship.  Through nine complete seasons, Blooper remains the only non-boss enemy to have won a season title.  Well, ok, he was an optional miniboss in Paper Mario.  Oh, and he was the prologue boss in The Thousand-Year Door, too... and Super Paper Mario... but mainly he's just a regular enemy so deal with it!  His brethren minions can only hope to aspire to his greatness.

Entering the Season Ten Tournament seeded 8th, Blooper's potential was unclear.  His status as a season champion indicated he was a threat, but he had been put on ice for seven seasons, while his status as a non-boss must have caused many shrugs.  In a first round match against another shrug-inducing character, Fawful, Blooper came out strong, but by the end he was fried and was eliminated from the tournament.
