More about Boomerang Brother...
Games: Super Mario Bros. 3, Yoshi's Safari. Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, New Super Mario Bros.

A variation of the Hammer Brother first seen in Mario 3 - though rarely.  As you'd expect its boomerangs fly back to it, so you must dodge them twice.  It can have two boomerangs in flight at once.  It is seen just twice in Mario 3 - in a secret area in Desert Land where you can win a Warp Whistle (2 appear here), and in one of the hand trap courses in Dark Land.  A Boomerang Brother also appeared as a miniboss in Yoshi's Safari.  After this, Boomerang Brother and other variations of the Hammer Brother seemed to vanish - until Superstar Saga, when a strange-looking, tall and thin version of the Boomerang Bro appeared.  His boomerang attacks could knock the legs right out from under the Marios, stunning them if they got hit.  Later, a solitary but more traditional-looking Boomerang Bro would appear in the Glitz Pit of Paper Mario 2; and then, they would appear in the New Super Mario Bros. titles more ofter than they ever did in Mario 3.  Having recently been spared obscurity, Boomerang Brother also appears in the Mario Baseball titles as a selectable version of Hammer Bro, and even uses his boomerang as a bat.
