More about Chain Chomp...
Games: Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario 64, Paper
Mario
A black ball with teeth found tied to a chain
because it is so dangerous, even as a member of the Koopa army, suggesting
it is an equal opportunity muncher that would chomp its own allies if given
the chance. Though Chain Chomp first appeared in SMB3 and also made
appearanced in Yoshi's Island and Mario RPG, it really came into its own
in SM64. Only one appeared in the game, but it was in the first course,
and it was gigantic - quite the site for anyone getting their first taste
of 3D adventuring. The species also took on a dog persona in this
game as it would bark while lunging from its post. Chain Chomp has
been largely superceded by its chainless cousin in recent games, but the
tied down variety is still around to nip at your heels if you don't watch
your steps.
