Love him or hate him - and it's hard not to feel one way or the other - Fawful of "I have fury!" fame has certainly made an impact since appearing in the Mario & Luigi series.  In the first game of this series, Superstar Saga, Fawful is the main flunky of villain Cackletta, helping to carry out her schemes and even saving her when she lost her physical body.  For most of this adventure Fawful seemed to think he was more than he was, but at the end he realized he was "just a toadie".  Despite the fact that Fawful seemed to have died after his final encounter with Mario and Luigi, since Cackletta was able to call upon what looked like his ghost in battle, he returned in Bowser's Inside Story.  This time he was the main villain and had picked up a head honcho of his own in Midbus.  As top dog I think Fawful was rather compulsive with his scheming, though.  First he infected Toads with the blorbs disease, then he seemed to abandon that path and instead tricked Bowser into eating important characters like the Mario Bros. and Peach, then he decided maybe that wasn't quite the way to go and extracted Peach in order to use her power to obtain the Dark Star.  I'm not saying he isn't evil or sufficiently dimented but I think he was better as Cackletta's right hand than as his own boss.

Oddly enough for a main antagonist, Fawful is portrayed as being weak physically; in one scene from Bowser's Inside Story he struggles to carry Peach (a lightweight in Mario Kart) and implores Midbus to help.  But what he lacks in strength, he makes up for in brains, and in both his major appearances he had a number of gadgets at his disposal.  In Superstar Saga he had a helmet that he could use to fly, shoot energy blasts, and even vacuum up and contain spirits.  He also built some kind of battle dome that really could have used a fan inside.  In Bowser's Inside Story he had some kind of flying hoverboard, flying two-way cameras, was able to upgrade Peach's castle into a robot, and probably designed some of the enemies Mario and Luigi encountered, such as Chain Chompful.  In addition to his major appearances, Fawful also appeared as a shopkeeper in Partners in Time, where he only encountered the babies.  In this appearance he tried to keep himself calm and collected but a major grudge was all-too evident.

In Roy's Sports Hall, Fawful's technological know-how has been in full force and he has reached Round Three in two different seasons, but could eat of his own sandwich of doom as he was blocked from reaching the finals by Shadow Mario and Mr. L.  A participant in many high profile matches, he was also involved in the Sports Hall's first ever tie, with Waluigi in Season 8.  Fawful lost the rematch with Waluigi the following week but had the last laugh when he beat Waluigi back in Round Two.  On the other hand, Waluigi would go on to win Season Nine, a feat to which Fawful still aspires as he was defeated by Mr. L in Season Eight's Round Three bout.

With a very mixed record, Fawful entered the Season Ten Tournament seeded 57th and with the lowest winning percentage outside of the wildcard winners.  His first round match against Season Two Winner Blooper could have led to an early exit, but such an outcome would have been too predictable for Fawful, who surged to the top and won the fight.  His next opponent is Petey Piranha.
