Iggy Koopa is one of Bowser's children.
In the cartoon series he and Lemmy went around as a duo, but in Lemmy's
Land this has occured less often and, compared to his siblings, he has
not developed much of his own personality, which is still a work in progress.
For some reason he has often been portrayed as the second-weakest Koopaling
next to Larry, though in the games he put up just as much a fight as his
siblings. In Super Mario Bros. 3, where he guarded the fourth world,
Giant Land, while he could not shake the ground or shoot bouncing projectiles
he's notable for being able to jump the highest out of his siblings from
the start of the battle. And while I'm not sure what this says about
Iggy in particular, he's known for having the slowest moving doomship -
very slow. In Super Mario World, where he guarded the first area,
Yoshi's Island, he stood on a platform tilting back and forth and threw
fireballs at Mario but was vulnerable to being knocked into lava.
Before battle in Superstar Saga, where he also appeared first, he spun
circles around Mario and Luigi, making them dizzy, but was not able to
stop them from reaching him to start a fight that he would lose.
In New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Iggy had an image overhaul. His hair turned green and looks like the top part of an onion or something, and he was somehow taller than before. He greeted Mario with a strange and exaggerated series of grunts, and first fought him in a manner reiminiscent of the second battle with Larry. In the second battle, Iggy stood in a cart pulled by a giant Chomp while shooting magic blasts at Mario and laughing maniacally. He certainly stood out as an oddball even among the Koopalings in this game and I think he's well positioned to have a more impactful role on this site going forward.
While Iggy has often been portrayed as a wimp unable to lift weights despite wishing to do so, he has done all right for himself in the Sports Hall. Granted, he was twice knocked out of seasons in Round One, but this was against Doopliss and Mr. L, both eventual season winners. In Season Seven he fought impressively to reach Round Three but couldn't manage against Shadoo. Iggy returned for a fifth straight season in Season Nine and put himself in position to shape a new persona for himself by soundly defeating his bully of a brother, Roy himself, then going on to defeat Shy Guy and Karma to earn his way back into Round Three. Despite stiff competition from his older brother Ludwig, Iggy appeared to have the situation well at hand. But he didn't count on the schemings of Count Bleck, and was eliminated from the season.
Not missing a beat, Iggy returned for the Season Ten Tournament, entering seeded 49th. Despite his underdog status, he appeared to be well-positioned to defeat Don Pianta in the first round. There's no telling how far he could have gone after that, and we'll never know, since Iggy essentially knocked himself out, and was eliminated.
