Paper Mario
More about the Koopa Bros...
Games: Paper Mario
This gang of bandana-wearing Koopa Troopas, each member of which grew up in Koopa Village, serves as the boss of chapter one in Paper Mario. They try to come across as cooler than thou despite being inconsistently effective and hardly being any stronger than a regular Koopa Troopa when not teamed up. Mario first encounters the group of Ninjakoopas in Toad Toad, where they had disguised themselves as Mushroomers and would not let Mario pass; but with the help of Merlon, Mario was eventually able to blow their cover and they ran off. Mario would catch up with them at the Koopa Bros' fortress, in which the Bros. kept Bob-ombs as slaves to perform nonspecified tasks, or else locked up those that disobeyed. Inside the fortress each Ninjakoopa tried to subdue Mario in his own way, but the plumber and his partners picked their way through just the same.
After Mario got through the final line of defense - a trio of Bullet Bill Blasters - it was time for the Koopa Bros. to fight him directly, well, almost. Their battle started with the Koopa Bros. fighting inside a cheaply made Bowser robot known as Bowser???. It was all too obvious that it was a fake, and it was none too strong or sturdy, though the construct appears to have impressed the Koopa King himself. After Bowser??? was destroyed, the Koopa Bros. tried to take down Mario by stacking up and spinning into him; but Mario turned the tables by knocking the stack over and the Koopa Bros. would fall on their backs and be vulnerable. It wasn't long before Mario started picking off Koopa Bros, and the quartet was soon defeated, coughing up the Star Spirit card they were supposed to be guarding and ending up in their own dungeon. The Koopa Bros. reappear briefly near the end of the game, evidently after having trained, but were instantly knocked off by Jr. Troopa, who challenged Mario instead.
Despite seemingly having the advantage of fighting as a group of 4, the Koopa Bros. have done poorly in Roy's Sports Hall to date. Everything appeared to be in their favor when they matched up against Bandit in Season Nine, but when the dust settled, the Koopa Bros. had lost and were eliminated from the season.
