Paper Mario
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
More about Koopatrol...
Games: Paper Mario series
This armor-clad Koopa Troopa appears throughout
the Paper Mario series. His first appearance was in the first Paper
Mario, where he took on the role of elite soldier in Bowser's Castle alongside
the well-established Hammer Bros. With high defense and pointed helmet,
these guys were tougher than your average foe, though by the time Mario
would reach them in the first Paper Mario, he would certainly have options
for dealing with them, such as ally Watt for defense piercing and the Spike
Shield badge to allow jump attacks. Koopatrol's main attack is a
shell slam that is a little more powerful than that of other Koopas.
It can curl into its shell to greatly raise its defense for a turn, or
it can summon another of its own into battle. Koopatrol also appeared
in the sequels: Thousand-Year Door and Super Paper Mario; though as Bowser
was not the main villain and did not play host to the final level, Koopatrols
appeared elsewhere and didn't necessarily feel so elite. Though mainly
known for their appearances in the Paper Mario series, Koopatrol also appeared
in Mario Pinball, breaking out of its paper-thin form. They seem
similar to the Terrapin and Terra Cotta enemies that appeared in Mario
RPG.
