It's The Green Thunder! Ok, so
this is really Luigi, supposedly brainwashed, but perhaps this is the way
he always wanted to be anyway. During Super Paper Mario, Luigi ended
up in Castle Bleck, from which he tried to escape but was caught by Nastasia,
who hypnotized him into becoming a member of that evil team while calling
himself Mr. L, the Green Thunder. Under this assumed name he encountered
his brother twice, though neither claimed to recognize the other.
The first time, in the Woah Zone, Mr. L went hand to hand with Mario, showing
off his super jump and ability to drink Shroom Shakes. When that
didn't work out, he tore a hole in space and brought in his plumber head-shaped
robot, Brobot. It had plenty of firepower but Mario still blew it
up. Mr. L opposed Mario once more in Sammer's Kingdom after it had
been destroyed, using a suped up robot known as Brobot L-Type, though if
anything I think it was actually less effective than the first model.
After this, Dimentio banished Mr. L to the Underwhere and this somehow
changed him back into Luigi. But rather than Dimentio being vengeful,
this appeared to have been a part of his plan, as Luigi ended up rejoining
with Mario and traveling with him to Castle Bleck. During one of
their encounters Dimentio planted a Floro Sprout on Luigi, and at a critical
moment was able to summon him back into the mindset of Mr. L and under
his control. Mr. L combined with Dimentio to form the supposedly
invincible Super Dimentio, but Mario was able to reuse the Pure Hearts
to win the day and Luigi was again restored.
As a coerced alter-ego of the heroic Luigi, Mr. L ought not to exist in any form today, yet he was able to appear in the Sports Hall just the same. In Season Seven he got off to a great start but in his Round Three match he turned back into Luigi and was disqualified as heroes are ineligible, while Anti Guy went on to win that battle and the season. Apparently Mr. L's true identity was forgotten as he was allowed to return in Season Eight, where he leaped all the way into Round Four. At that point Roy up and decided to hold a grudge match between him and Anti Guy with the Season Seven title on the line, and Mr. L prevailed. So put all kinds of asterisks next to it if you like, but he's a season winner in the books and has a sparkling record to boot, earning him the number 2 rank.
It is with that rank that Mr. L entered the Season Ten Tournament. Though his high seed would have suggested an easy first round match up, he got stuck with a tough fight against Roy himself. Despite nearly being disqualified when a doppelganger took his place at the start of the fight, Mr. L persevered through one of the fiercest fights of the season and triumphed over the Sports Hall host, moving on to Round Two. There, he will face Tutankoopa, which looks to be a much easier fight for The Green Thunder.
