Smorg is a monstrous collection of
little blights famous for hitching a ride on the Excess Express in The
Thousand-Year Door and kidnapping the crew and passengers. It may
have been planted in Riverside Station by the Shadow Siren Beldam, who
was trying to prevent Mario from searching for a Crystal Star in Poshley
Heights. As a collection of beings, Smorg is able to change its shape
and can literally turn himself into a living weapon. In battle he
could form arm- or claw-like appendages known as Miasmas to whip or spear
Mario. The principles by which Smorg is made up is unknown but the
creatures that make up its base seem to become the central nervous system,
which is the only part that will suffer lasting damage whereas other parts
can be reformed. The mini-Smorgs quickly dispersed upon being defeated
and are considered a low threat today.
Smorg did, however, manage to present a bit of a threat in Season Six of Roy's Sports Hall when he wound his way into Round Three, but was defeated by Larry. He also appeared in Season Eight but was no match for eventual season winner, Mr. L. He entered the Season Ten Tournament seeded 58, but despite being heavily armed he was easily defeated by Anti Guy in the first round.
