Paper Mario
More about Tubba Blubba...
Games: Paper Mario
This giant Clubba is the boss of Chapter Three
in Paper Mario 1. Bowser had used the Star Rod to make Tubba invincible
by removing his heart... see, in some weird Mushroom Kingdom logic, if
you have no heart, your life force can't be damaged. With his newfound
invincibility, Tubba terrorized the Boos of nearby Gusty Gulch, eating
them one by one. He was also supposed to be guarding one of the Star
Spirits, Skolar; but that didn't work too well as the Star Spirit managed
to escape while Tubba was off rampaging or sleeping. Because of this,
Mario could have avoided ever encountering Blubba, except that Skolar was
captured by Bow, who used him as collateral to convince Mario to defeat
Tubba anyway and rescue her Boo friends. Well, being invincible and
all, Tubba couldn't be defeated normally. But his heart - his weakness
- still existed, but was just absent. Mario snuck into Tubba's castle
and eventually found the key to the windmill where Tubba's heart lay in
wait. With Blubba giving chase, Mario hightailed it from the castle
to the windmill, and confronted Tubba's Heart. The Heart was pretty
feisty for what you'd take to be a helpless, squishy organ, but Mario,
probably with help from Bow, defeated it, sending it running back to Tubba
Blubba. Jumping into Tubba's mouth - yeah, because I'm sure that
works - heart and body were reunited. Mario exited the windmill and
entered into battle with Tubba... and the fight was a joke! With
just 10 HP, Tubba could be defeated before he even got a turn. Failing
that, his slam attacks only caused one damage anyway. Why that should
be, I don't know; he's a big guy, there should be some oomph behind his
attacks. But, there you have it. After the battle Tubba coughs
up all the Boos he ate and we find out he's really a pretty sensitive guy,
before he runs off.
