Clawdia hummed as she sewed up Roy's baseball uniform. She could remember the last year he'd worn it on field... Had it really been six years ago? Yes... Her four oldest sons were all grown up and Wendy was ready to leave... What would she do when Morton left? Larry? She didn't know, but she could tell that Bowser might not live as long as he expected with all this Princess capturing. He was only in his late thirties, middle aged for a Koopa, but she knew he was in the pain of some one twice his age. His back had been broken once or twice by all that stomping, and would never be quite right again. She sighed as she remembered in all her twenty-two years of marriage to Bowser Koopa, she had had many adventures, though none battling Mario. Bowser had kept his promise, life with him never had a dull moment. At first, it had been quaint, she remembered, not so exciting, but then Ludwig... Ludwig was such a smart baby from day one...
Clawdia smiled as her son, now able to walk and make use of his hands, examined the toys before him. An Earth toy called "Lincoln Logs" seemed to interest him, and he began to build something of a sort. Unfortunately, Bowser, not watching where he was going, kicked it into Ludwig's face. Ludwig looked stunned, but a look of determination soon replaced it as he rebuilt the strange paraphenelia.
That was not the last time one of Ludwig's invention blew up in his face, but they became fewer and fewer as he grew older, until one day, it stopped.
"Mother, I've done it!" Ludwig's face was smudged with oil and dirt, but he was still the lovable little Koopaling Clawdia had known for so many years, "My Temporary Temperment Reversal Machine has been completed!" That was the day Ludwig left...
Clawdia stopped sewing and sighed, remembering her little Lemmy, such a joker...
Lemmy's first steps were awkward, even for such a young Koopaling. Yet when he fell, he never cried, he smiled that "I've got a secret joke" smile, an irresistable smile that spread, making everyone who saw it smile. At a young age, he became the jester of the family, riding a ball to make up for his motor skills, which didn't progress well.
"Hey, Mom! Look at this!" Lemmy, using that smile once again, stood on one toe, balancing a plate on his nose. That was the last trick he preformed for Clawdia.
She looked down at her sewing and remembered her confused little boy of sports.
Roy was such a strange Koopaling. He could be so angelic at times.. But then he'd be a real devil. He was such a problem child. Yet Clawdia stll loved him. He was the son who just needed a push in the right direction.
"Hey! Mom! I picked you some flowers!" he'd handed her the fresh picked roses, his hand had been scratched rather badly getting them.
"Yo! Mom! You gonna be chillin with me for a while? I got some junk to say." That was the day he'd told her he was leaving.
"Hey, Mom!" Wendy smiled, "Is that Roy's old uniform? I remember that thing! He wouldn't take it off after he got it! You litterally had to pry it off him when it needed to be washed!" She laughed, remembering the days when her older brothers were around.
"Yes, Roy was a tad too fond of it," Clawdia agreed.
"Ok, Mom..." Wendy sat on the couch next to Clawdia, "I'm leaving the Keep now... I'm engaged and I have a place to stay..."
"I knew it... Before you even said it..." Clawdia sighed, another one of her Children grown up and gone. How she'd miss her only daughter! In this moment, she couldn't help but think of Iggy, and how no one missed him except her.
"Mommy!" the young Koopaling had jumped
into her arms, while his brother, Lemmy, stayed on the ground.
"Mom, don't cry," Iggy had assured
her as his Lakitu Cloud arrived, "I'll be back to visit some day..."
"What is it? It's... them... right? You're thinking of them," Wendy looked at her mother, who's face looked pained as a single tear fell.
"I miss them all, so much. And I'll miss you, too..." she looked at her daughter.
Wendy looked like she was thinking of something, then gave Clawdia a hug, "Mom, don't cry. I'll be back to visit some day..."
"You... You were there?"
"I came to see him off, too. But after I saw him say goodbye to you, I couldn't bear to..." Wendy admitted.
"No matter what you five do, you'll always be with me... Right here in my heart and mind... In memories of the early days with Bowser..." Clawdia smiled, "The memories I cherish more than any riches..."
