Chapter One: Double Dare
On one gloomy day in Dinosaur Land, Yoshi was walking and munching on berries down the meadow, happily singing. Then Yoshi saw the Koopa Kids and the Dino Kids playing kickball. One of the Koopa Kids walked up to Yoshi and said, "Would you like to join us for a game of kickball, Yoshi?"
"Hey! You're Wendy O. Koopa!" said Yoshi.
"Well duh," snapped Wendy.
The game lasted two hours and the Koopa Team was winning. The Dino Team was up to kick the ball. Yoshi was the third one to kick. There were two Dinos on the bases. It was Yoshi's turn. Lemmy Koopa rolled the ball toward Yoshi. Yoshi ran and kicked the ball at maximum speed. "You kicked a homerun!" the whole team shouted, cheering for Yoshi.
The Koopa Team ran after the ball. "It's heading for the old house!" yelled Iggy Koopa. The ball crashed into the old house window on the third floor.
"Oh no," said Lemmy Koopa. "That's my favorite ball!"
Yoshi ran to Lemmy and said, "What happen to the ball?"
"Look what you have done!" shouted Lemmy. "You lost my ball, it's all your fault!"
"All my fault?" said Yoshi. "It's not my fault that I kicked the ball in the old house. Besides, I made the homerun!"
"True," replied Lemmy. "You got a point there pal, but that doesn't matter, you still have to get my ball or you have to pay for it!"
"Oh yeah?" said Yoshi. "How much did it cost?"
"Ten-hundred koopabits," said Lemmy.
"That's insane!" yelled Yoshi.
"Natch!" sneered Ludwig von Koopa.
"I dare you to go into the old house and get my ball, or you'll buy me another one!" sneered Lemmy.
Yoshi knew if he got dared he must do
it even if it was not true. Yoshi stared into Lemmy's eyes and
said, "You're on! I'll show you that
I am not afraid to go in the old house."
Chapter Two: Yoshi Meets Boo
Yoshi crossed his fingers for luck to keep himself from getting scared as he entered the old house to find Lemmy's ball. "Good luck, Yoshi," said the Dino Team, who also had their fingers crossed.
Morton Koopa, Jr. walked up to Yoshi, putting his claw on his shoulder. "Have fun finding my brother's ball, loser!" he chuckled, pushing Yoshi into the doorway of the house.
Yoshi fell and hit the floor with a
loud THMPH! The kids laughed. Hours later, Yoshi got up from the floor.
"Whoa! I must have fallen asleep or something," he muttered. After awhile,
Yoshi remembered what
he was here for. As a matter of fact,
Yoshi wasn't afraid a bit, so he continued on his search. Yoshi noticed
some pictures on the wall that displayed some dragon warriors from a long
time ago. As Yoshi went upstairs, he heard footsteps coming from behind
him. He turned around and what he saw was a pair of shoes. Yoshi scratched
his head and said, "Oh, it's only a pair of shoes." Yoshi laughed. "For
a minute there, I thought that they were walking by themselves!" Suddenly,
the shoes begin to walk by themselves. Yoshi ran screaming for help, running
down the hall until he stopped at the corner of the hall. Yoshi was trapped!
He begged for mercy. "Please, don't hurt me! I'm just a civilized dinosaur,
looking for a purple star-colored ball!" Something appeared above the shoes.
It was a ghost wearing the shoes. Yoshi seemed to not be afraid of the
ghost. Yoshi looked at the ghost, puzzled. "I heard dinosaurs wear shoes,"
he said to himself. "But this is ridiculous!"
"Hi! My name is Boo. What's your name?" said the ghost.
"My name is Yoshi."
"Want to be friends?" asked the ghost.
"Sure," replied Yoshi. The two friends explored the old house until Yoshi thought of something. "I just remembered! I was looking for a purple star-colored ball," he said, looking at the ghost. "Have you seen it?"
"Of course," said Boo. "It's near the big clock." The ghost showed Yoshi where the clock was.
"There it is!" shouted Yoshi. "The ball! I found the ball!
Boo looked at Yoshi. "You came through this mess to get a ball?"
Yoshi looked ashamed, "Well... actually, Lemmy dared me to find his ball or I'd have to pay for it."
"He did, didn't he?" said the ghost, who had an idea. "Do you want to get even with him?" the ghost asked Yoshi.
"Oh yes, yes," replied Yoshi, jumping up and down.
"Okay Yoshi, grab that ball and meet me in the attic. I have a plan that would have you dare him back. This is what we do..."
Chapter Three: Yoshi Gets Even
"Hey, that's just crazy enough to work!" Yoshi said.
Boo nodded in agreement as he disappeared. "Don't forget our plan!"
"How does he do that?" Yoshi asked. He went down into the basement. There, he found some white paint, powder, chains, paint brushes, string, and some pencils. "Just what the doctor ordered," Yoshi smiled as he collected the stuff and placed them in an old wheelbarrow.
Yoshi had a tough time pulling the wheelbarrow up the stairways to the attic. "Oh ooga! I'm glad this house only has four stories," Yoshi grunted. "I'm almost there!"
Outside the haunted house, the Dino Kids and the Koopa Kids were waiting for Yoshi's return.
"Me think Yoshi is in trouble," said the blue Dino.
"Me think that too," agreed a red Dino.
"Who cares? He'd better get my ball outta there soon. I'm losing my patience!" Lemmy growled.
"Sheesh! Chill, Lemmy," said Iggy. "He'll find it."
Yoshi finally made it up to the attic with the supplies Boo needed. "Here you go," Yoshi said, breathing heavily.
"Thanks, you did a fine job getting the items," Boo complemented.
"Oh, you're welcome, Boo. It was no trouble at all," Yoshi said sarcastically.
Boo looked through the items. "Okay, now let's get down to business, shall we?" Yoshi nodded in agreement. Boo handed Yoshi the chains. "Hold these please!" Boo opened the can of white paint and dipped the paintbrush into it. "Now hold still while I cover you in this." Boo began to paint Yoshi.
"Oh, are you making me look like a White Yoshi?" asked Yoshi.
Boo stopped painting him. "Yeah, you could say that. I'm gonna change you into the Legendary White Yoshi! The White Yoshi protects its homeland from outsiders," explained Boo.
"Like the Koopas," Yoshi added.
"Exactly! We are gonna scare the Koopas' shells off!"
"Wow! What a plan!" Yoshi got excited.
Boo turned to his new friend, "You said it, now hold still!"
