Addiction to Video Games

By Max Jones

Lemmy and Iggy were playing video games in their room. Both were only a matter of centimetres away from the screen. It was a video game where tanks battled. Lemmy and Iggy were against each other.

“I’m gonna get you, Iggy!” shouted Lemmy.

“No you’re not!” shouted Iggy as he shot Lemmy’s tank. “I won, I won!” shouted Iggy.

“One more game,” said Lemmy.

“Feel like losing again?” asked Iggy, sarcastically.

Lemmy and Iggy started playing again. While they were playing, Bowser opened the door.

“Lemmy, Iggy, I want to have a chat with you two,” said Bowser, with an angry tone in his voice.

“After this game,” said Lemmy, without taking his eyes off the screen. Lemmy stood up on his ball and Iggy leaned in the direction that he wanted his tank to go in excitement. Bowser turned off the system.

“Hey, I was about to beat him!” shouted Lemmy.

“Don’t you talk to me like that!” shouted Bowser.

“Sorry, King Dad,” said Lemmy.

“Besides, I was about to beat you,” said Iggy.

“In your dreams,” said Lemmy.

“Silence! This is what I wanted to talk with your two about. You have been playing way too many video games, not that I mind that, but it’s taking your mind off of defeating the Mario Brothers. Your brothers and sister are doing fine when it comes to planning and taking action against the Mario Brothers, but you two just sit in your room and play video games,” said Bowser.

“We’ll try harder next time,” said Lemmy, as he reached to turn his game system back on. Bowser put his hand over the on switch, not allowing Lemmy to push it.

“What do you think I should do about your addiction?” asked Bowser.

“Maybe you could buy us games with Mario as the enemy and maybe that would
convince us to help more,” suggested Iggy.

“That is the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard,” said Bowser. Bowser stopped and thought for a while. “I know,” said Bowser as he unplugged the game system and took it with both hands.

“What are you doing?” asked Lemmy.

“You won’t be able to play this until you make a move against the Mario Brothers,” said Bowser.

Lemmy and Iggy started sputtering with big wet eyes as they stared at the game system. Bowser walked out of the room with the game system still in his hands. Lemmy and Iggy continued to sputter as they looked at each other with big wet eyes then looked back at the door.

After a series of sputtering, Lemmy said, “What do we do? We don’t have our game system anymore.”

“Well, all we have to do is do something to go against the Mario Brothers,” said Iggy.

“I know, but I’m too frightened of not playing video games anymore for my brain to think of a plan,” said Lemmy.

“Me too,” said Iggy.

“I know, let’s ask around to see if anyone will let us play theirs,” said Lemmy.

“Let’s hurry, my fingers are tingling,” said Iggy.

Lemmy and Iggy went to Larry’s door and knocked.

“Who is it?” asked Larry.

“Lemmy and Iggy,” said Lemmy. Larry opened the door.

“Larry, we need to play your video games,” said Lemmy.

“I don’t have any video games, but you guys can come and play with my toys if you want,” said Larry.

“Maybe later,” said Iggy as he and Lemmy started running for Morton’s room. Lemmy knocked rapidly on the door.

“Who is it?” asked Morton.

“Lemmy and Iggy. It’s a matter of great importance, please open up!” shouted Lemmy.

Morton opened the door. “Well hurry up, Wendy and I are in the middle of a game,” said Morton. Lemmy and Iggy saw that Wendy was waiting with a video game controller in her hands.

“Can we play, please?” asked Iggy.

“There are only two controllers,” said Morton.

“Out, Wendy,” said Lemmy.

“No, you guys out, Wendy and I are playing and you can’t!” shouted Morton as he shut the door.

“I don’t see them doing any more work then us, at least we’re walking and sweating,” said Lemmy.

“Let’s check Roy and Ludwig,” said Iggy.

“They’ll never let us play,” said Lemmy.

“We can try,” said Iggy. Lemmy glanced out the window to see Ludwig and Roy playing football with each other.

“They’re outside, let’s hurry!” shouted Lemmy.

Lemmy and Iggy ran into Ludwig and Roy’s room (they shared a room). Lemmy opened the door and they turned on the game system. Lemmy grabbed Ludwig’s controller and Iggy grabbed Roy’s. Ludwig’s controller was sticky from chocolate. Lemmy didn’t worry about it; he wanted to play video games too much.

Lemmy and Iggy played video games for fifteen minutes, and then Ludwig and Roy entered the room.

“Hey, what are you guys doing in our room?” shouted Roy. Ludwig turned off the game system.

“Sorry guys, but we needed some video games,” said Lemmy.

“Get out of our room!” shouted Ludwig.

“Okay, sorry about that,” said Iggy.

“Get out of here, four eyes,” said Roy.

“You know Roy, we both have problems with our vision, but I am the only one who will admit it to everyone who sees me. I don’t need sunglasses to cover up the fact that I need help with my vision, so next time you call me four eyes, think about how stupid it will sound first,” said Iggy.

Roy stomped over to Iggy while puffing out of his nose in anger. Lemmy got in the way. “Back off, Roy,” said Lemmy.

Roy sighed and went back by Ludwig.

“Thanks for the use of the game system,” said Iggy happily as he and Lemmy left.

“Well, that was enough to make my mind work again,” said Lemmy.

“Yeah, now let’s think of a plan to defeat the Mario Brothers,” said Iggy.

“It doesn’t even have to be a good plan. All we have to do is try, then Bowser will give us our video games back,” said Lemmy.

“Great, but if we defeat them, then maybe we’ll be able to play video games the rest of our lives and Bowser will never take them away again,” said Iggy.

“Well, at least he won’t for a couple of months,” said Lemmy.

“So let’s try to really get them,” said Iggy.

“I have a plan, you just follow along,” said Lemmy.

Lemmy and Iggy got on Lemmy’s doomship and flew to the Mushroom Kingdom.

“Did you bring your wand?” asked Lemmy.

“Yeah,” said Iggy.

“Okay, just do what I do and don’t talk unless it’s important,” said Lemmy.

“Okay,” said Iggy.

Lemmy froze the two Mushroom guards with the ice power in his wand. “Don’t be seen,” said Lemmy as he walked into the castle. Lemmy and Iggy snuck their way up to Mario and Luigi’s room. Lemmy knocked on the door.

“What are you doing?” whispered Iggy. Lemmy shushed Iggy.

“Who is it?” asked Mario.

“It’s Lemmy Koopa. I come in peace, so I’m not here to fight you,” said Lemmy. Mario opened the door.

“How’d you get in?” asked Mario.

“I told the guard what we were here for and it was nothing bad,” lied Lemmy.

“So, what do you want?” asked Luigi.

“Well, our dad took our video games away, and we need to defeat you or try to defeat you in order to get them back. But the problem is, we don’t want any trouble, so we were wondering if we could take a few pictures of you laying on the ground as though you were beat up for a second,” lied Lemmy, who really didn’t even have a camera.

Mario and Luigi looked at each other in confusion, then back at Lemmy.

“You’re not gonna try anything, right?” asked Mario.

“Of course not,” said Lemmy.

“Okay,” said Mario as he and Luigi lay on the ground, trying to look hurt.

“Say cheese,” said Lemmy as he froze Mario into an ice cube.

In the middle of moving his wand in the direction of Luigi, Luigi kicked the wand out of Lemmy’s hand and jumped to his feat. Iggy aimed his wand at Luigi and fired a row of yellow Os. Luigi was hit by an O and was electrocuted and knocked down. Luigi jumped back to his feet and saw Lemmy running at him. Luigi kicked Lemmy in the chest, sending Lemmy back into Iggy and causing Iggy to accidentally shoot himself in the face with a red beam from his wand. Iggy fell to the ground, unconscious.

Lemmy grabbed Iggy’s wand and hit Luigi in the side of the head with it. Then Lemmy ran to the side of Luigi and hit him in the chest. Luigi fell to the ground gasping for air. The blow to the chest knocked the wind out of him. Then Lemmy threw Iggy’s wand to the ground and grabbed his own. Then he froze Luigi into an ice cube.

Lemmy patted Iggy’s face to wake him up. Iggy woke up and Lemmy handed him his wand. “Let’s get these guys on the doomship and bring them to King Dad,” said
Lemmy.

“Okay, I’ll bring the doomship up to this window and you can load the Brothers,” said Iggy.

“Okay,” said Lemmy. Iggy snuck back outside and got in the doomship. He drove it up to the window.

Lemmy dropped the two Mario Brothers into the back. Then Lemmy jumped in the passenger seat. They started to drive back to the Koopa Kingdom.

While they were driving, Mario’s ice was slowly cracking without Lemmy or Iggy hearing it. Soon, Mario busted out of his ice and jumped to his feet. Lemmy and Iggy turned around in their chairs to see him. Mario took one of their wands that they set next to their seats and hit Lemmy and Iggy in the head, knocking them unconscious. Then he hit Luigi’s ice cube, breaking it and setting Luigi free.

“Let’s go, Luigi,” said Mario as they both jumped out of the doomship and started walking toward the Mushroom Kingdom.

Bowser looked out his window to see Lemmy’s doomship coming. He went outside to see why it looked like nobody was steering it. Bowser looked and saw that Lemmy and Iggy were unconscious.

Bowser jumped onto the side of the doomship and climbed to the front, then took the wheel. He parked it safely in its spot. Then he woke up Lemmy and Iggy.

“What happened here?” asked Bowser. Lemmy told Bowser the whole story. “Well boys, you got close, so now you get your game system back, but if it shows that you aren’t paying as much attention to your work, then I’ll take it away again,” said Bowser.

“Thank you, King Dad,” said Lemmy. Bowser plugged in the game system, back in Lemmy’s room. Lemmy and Iggy wrapped their arms around it and cried with happiness. And from then on, they always put business before pleasure.
