“Uh, better keep the key,” Ludwig says.
“Chances are, a key will be more helpful than a Frog Suit,
especially in a castle like this.”
He picks up the key, and the Frog Suit vanishes into thin air. “Strange,”
Larry says, as the Koopalings head back upstairs, hoping to run into those
pesky Mario
Brothers.
*The Koopas now have the key.*

Ludwig is grabbed by Mario. “Well, well, well,” Mario says. “If it isn’t the guy who got us into this mess.” Mario hands him to a bunch of Mushroom guards. As they grab him, all of his items pour out of his right pocket, where he kept them, but his coins, which are in his left pocket, are safe. Then he wrestles away and jumps out of the moat. The plumbers and guards are still stuck in the moat for the moment.
*The Koopas lose all of their items.*
Go to chapter 68.
Ludwig checks his pockets, but finds no key. “Well, we can’t catch them, I guess,” he sighs. The Koopalings try to think of some way to get into the door, when they hear a ton of marching. They turn around to find a large army of huge Mushroom guards. Even worse, Mario and Luigi suddenly appear, right behind the Koopalings. They had been made invisible by Lady Bow, the green ghost who partnered up with Mario in Paper Mario! Lady Bow slaps Ludwig and Lemmy, making Ludwig’s Hammer Brothers Suit and Lemmy’s Fire Flower disappear.
“Uh, guys,” says Iggy. “I have a feeling we’re in for a beating- one that even Roy couldn’t give us.”
*The Koopas lose the Hammer Brothers
suit and the Fire Flower.*
If the Koopas have the Starman, go

If the Koopas do not have the Starman,

“Um, let’s take the Frog Suit,” Ludwig
suggests. “Maybe we’ll find a pool to swim in.” As he picks up
the green suit, the key automatically
disappears.
“Let’s go upstairs!” Iggy says, and the Koopas do so, continuing on their hunt to find the Mario Brothers.
*The Koopas now have the Frog Suit.*
Go to chapter 65.
The Koopalings reach the top of the stairs and see two familar faces: Mario and Luigi! “We’ve been looking for you!” Iggy says.
“How pleasant of you two to show up!” says Wendy.
“Take this, Lemmy,” says Ludwig, as he tosses Lemmy the Fire Flower.
Mario looks at Ludwig with the Hammer Suit and Luigi sees Lemmy with firepower. “RUN!” they yell together, and they take off down the hall.
The Koopalings follow the Mario Brothers down the hall, where they open a door up quickly with a key, which leads to another hallway. In their hurry they leave the door open, letting the Koopas come running right after them, down another hall. The hallway comes to a bend, and the Mario Brothers go down to the left. But by the time the Koopalings make it there, they have disappeared, and there is only one door at the end of the hall. “They must have gone in there!” Susan says, and they run to the door.
“It’s locked, and there’s a keyhole here,” says Lemmy.
If the Koopas have the key, go to chapter
69.
If the Koopas do not have the key,
go to chapter 63.
The Mario Brothers take off down the hall with a few of the Mushroom guards, and they go outside, defeat Roy, and take back Princess Peach off him.
You want to know about the Koopalings? Well, I’ll just say these Mushroom guards aren’t that weak, and there are 500 of them.
GAME OVER!
Ludwig pulls out his Frog Suit and quickly puts it on. Since it is so slippery, Mario tries to grab him but his fingers slip off. Then Ludwig makes a big jump out from the moat using the suit’s jumping skills, leaving the Mushroom guards and Marios momentarily in the water.
Go to chapter 68.
Ludwig suddenly stops. “I’ve got to get those plumbers back with the princess or Bowser will be mad,” he says. He looks down at his watch, and sees that it is only six hours before the same time the day before when Bowser sent them out. “Yikes! It takes five hours to get back to Dark Land in that doomship! Now how will I get those plumbers out of there?” he asks of himself, seeing the Mushrooms and Marios trying to climb out.
If Ludwig has the fishing rod, and you
think he should use it, go to chapter 73.
If Ludwig has the fishing rod, but
you think it’s safer for him to run, go to chapter 72.
If Ludwig does not have the fishing
rod, go to chapter 71.
Ludwig pulls the key out of his pocket and puts it in the keyhole. Then he does the dramatic Luigi’s Mansion key-turning and slow turning of the doorknob. “Cut that out!” says Wendy, as Ludwig pulls the door open.
CRASH! The planet’s largest collection of empty Troopa shells comes crashing down on the Koopalings. To make matters worse, the shells start bouncing off the walls and hitting the Koopas over and over again. “Where are those plumbers?” whines Wendy.
The Mario Brothers appear suddenly, well behind the Koopalings. Lady Bow, the green ghost that helped out Mario in Paper Mario, had made them invisible! They laugh as the Koopalings are whacked constantly with the overflow of Troopa shells, then they take some Troopa shells outside with them to easily defeat Roy and recover Peach.
GAME OVER!
Ludwig reaches into his pocket, hoping to find some kind of emergency item. He pulls out a Starman. “Hey, Koopalings!” he says. “Everyone touch this Starman and we’ll be charged with invincibility.”
The Koopalings do so, and they realize
that their invincible time will end soon, within 20 seconds, in
fact. They make their way through the
guards easily and take off back down one of the original halls. The Mario
Brothers and the Mushroom guards chase after them as they scramble down
the stairs and to the front doors, with their invincibility finished.
Since the doors were opened earlier, they are able to run out of the palace, and they run across the bridge. “You guys go to the ship,” Ludwig says to them. “I’ve got an idea.” While the rest of the Koopalings run to the doomship, Ludwig stays on the bridge, waiting for the Mario Brothers and guards to get on the bridge. They do, and since there are so many guards on the bridge, the bridge weakens and snaps. Ludwig goes running for safe ground, as he is hoping to get them all stuck in the moat while keeping himself safe at the same time. If the bridge hadn't snapped he could've fished the Mario Brothers out, but as things stand his entire plan is foiled, giving him a splash into the water. The guards and Mario Bros. reach out to grab him.
If Ludwig has the Frog Suit, go to chapter

If Ludwig does not have the Frog Suit,

“I’ve got no way of getting that Mario out of there,” Ludwig says. “I’ll just have to bring back Peach alone.” He takes off for the doomship and tells the other Koopalings of his plans.
Go to chapter 74.
“I’ve got this fishing rod, so maybe
I should fish Mario and Luigi out,” Ludwig says. Then he sees the
plumbers and Mushroom guards angrily
climbing out of the moat. “Naaaaah!” he says, running to the doomship to
let his siblings know his plans.
Go to chapter 74.
Ludwig pulls out his fishing rod and quickly puts it together. “I’d better fish Mario and Luigi out of there,” he says. He casts out his line and gets it hooked on Luigi’s ear, who had just climbed out of the moat. As Ludwig is reeling Luigi in, Mario climbs out of the moat and runs after Ludwig, but ends up getting tangled up in the line. Ludwig carries the Mario Brothers over to the doomship, where the other Koopalings use their duct tape to wrap the Mario Brothers up. Then they take off for home.
Five hours later, the Koopalings bring Princess Peach, Mario, and Luigi to Bowser. “Wow! I’m amazed at you guys!” Bowser says, as he locks up the three “good guys” in the dungeon. “You actually did it! Here’s a big reward for you!” Bowser gives each Koopaling a sack of 500 platinum coins, as well as a grand feast. Princess Peach and the Mario Brothers have finally been defeated... for good! Or not...
*The Koopas collect 4,000 platinum coins.*
YOU WIN! GAME OVER!
Go to chapter 75.
The Koopalings go on their trip back to Dark Land and Castle Koopa, knowing that they can only give Bowser Princess Peach. They are a little disappointed, but they realize that they’ve got to be glad about what they’ve got.
Five hours later, they are in Bowser’s throne room. “WHAT?!” Bowser screams. “I told you to get Princess Peach AND the Mario Brothers, and you only get the princess? You’re lazy and took the cheap and easy route! I’d rather let Peach be free than you guys!” Bowser lets Peach go free in his anger and locks up the Koopalings.
I’ve never been in a dungeon, and never had to be on a diet of only bread and water, but I’m sure it’s not that fun, especially for an entire lifetime.
