The Koopas were full of joy and frustration, joy for beating Corrupt and frustration for having seen him get away in Spector. Spector was a massive airship like none other that the Koopas had ever seen before. It had a giant laser cannon in the front used for its primary weapon. It had countless lasers on the side and the airship itself was made to look like a giant black dragon.
Ludwig still couldn’t believe that a ship that size could be built in such a small amount of time. Corrupt had only been on the rampage for three days so there had to be a logical explanation.
“Ha! I’ve got it!” Ludwig yelled as he came running through the hallway towards Bowser’s throne room. “Hey King Dad! I’ve got it!”
Bowser looked up from the newspaper he was reading. “Got what?” Bowser asked.
Ludwig chuckled. “The Minyos must have already been building Spector before they met Corrupt. Probably they were going to use it themselves to take over the world.”
Ludwig went off to his lab while Bowser shook his head. “No, they did build it in three days, and Corrupt planned it.”
A dark shadow flew over the Koopa Kingdom and came to a halt over Koopa Castle. It was Spector, the ultimate destruction vesical, and inside Corrupt and Crank were discussing the main power of the weapon.
Corrupt looked at the Koopas’ home and laughed. “Gwa ha ha, excellent… Soon this pitiful excuse for an existance will be no more…”
Crank hissed menacingly. “Yesss, it will blow that good for nothing casssstle apart along with every thhhing insssside.”
Corrupt chuckled. “Very good Crank. Is my power suit ready yet?”
Crank nodded. “Yesss of courssse. I would never dissssspleasssse.”
Corrupt walked up to the control panel in the cockpit of Spector and pushed a black button. “Ok. Mega beam on full power.” There was a strange humming noise as the laser warmed up to fire at the Koopas.
Ludwig was in his lab hard at work drawing a picture of what Spector had looked like when he heard the humming of the laser. Ludwig walked to the window to see what the noise was and screamed in alarm. “ Everyone!!! Run!!! Spector is firing upon us!!!"
Corrupt laughed from his high perch above Koopa Castle as a high-powered beam fired from Spector’s main laser destroyed everyone and everything within a ten mile radius. Corrupt, done with his devious deed, flew off into the unknown.
For four days the Mushroom press was live in Dark Land, where countless Koopas lost their lives, to find details about the Koopa family, which was still unaccounted for. When the news got to Mario and friends they rushed over with medical crews and countless supplies for the homeless Koopas. They searched for days on end for Bowser and his kids until…
“Hey!!! Over here!!!” a worker yelled as emergency crews rushed over. It was Ludwig, barely alive and badly wounded.
“Here's another one,” cried another
worker. One after the other they found the Koopas in the
remains of a bomb shelter. Princess
Toadstool shuddered to think what could have left such a path of destruction.
A few days later the Koopas regained consciousness and Mario asked Bowser what had happened, but he could not answer because he was in shock and half of the other Koopas were too. Mario walked into Iggy and Lemmy’s room and asked them what happened, and he finally got a useful result. The Koopalings wept as they told Mario what happened. “Corrupt… Corrupt blew our castle down with his big ship.”
Mario starred at the two Koopalings. “You mean-a Spector?” The Koopaling’s nodded. “This is-a bad. I must tell the princess.”
Mario raced to the princess to tell her the bad news, and saw an object in the distance. Mario began to sprint in shock. Spector was coming for Mushroom Kingdom. He ran into Princess Toadstool's castle and to her room. “Princess Toadstool!!! Order an evacuation!!! Call the National Guard!!! Call the army!!! Corrupt is coming!!!”
Princess Toadstool shook her head. “Slowly Mario.”
Mario sighed. “Corrupt destroyed the Koopa Kingdom and is now on his way here!!!”
Princess Toadstool screamed, “Oh! This is terrible! We’ve got to do something!”
Just then, Ludwig came through the door on crutches. “I saw him coming too. We have little time but I’ve come up with a little plan to take down Corrupt, if you will take my help.”
Spector flew closer and closer to the Mushroom Kingdom. Inside, Corrupt and Crank were having a toast to their new machine. “Oh Crank, this is our finest hour!”
Crank laughed. “Yesss, it issss great! No one can sssstop usss!”
Corrupt nodded his head in agreement. “And once the princess and Mario are out of the way, NOTHING can stop us. Gwahaha.”
Back at Toadstool's castle, Ludwig had everyone get all the mirrors they could find and explained his plan. “Ok, this is what will happen,” Ludwig said firmly. “Corrupt will come and hover over the castle and fire directly upon it, so we’ll set up a shield of mirrors, layer upon layer. When Corrupt fires the primary weapon It will shatter most of the mirrors and hopefully… hopefully slow the magnitude of the blast and then reflect it back and cause a chain reaction within the primary weapon that will destroy the ship.”
Everyone got to work setting up the giant shield of mirrors as Spector leered closer and closer. They finished the shield just as Spector arrived. Corrupt looked at it and laughed. “Ha. What is that meant to be? Oh well. Crank, fire up the laser!” The laser warmed up and everyone ran inside the castle. Princess Toadstool was preying that the plan would work and Ludwig crossed his fingers as the Mario Brothers clenched their fists.
There was a loud screech as the laser fired and a series of crashes as the mirrors shattered, one after the other, layer after layer. Then the laser reflected back at Spector right when it hit the last layer of mirrors, and the primary weapon became red hot from the force of the power.
There was a slight rumble, then a massive explosion followed by a giant blue pulse wave as Spector’s weapon blew up. At first nothing else happened to Spector until smoke started blowing from all directions, and it began to lose altitude and fall towards Soda Lake where, with a long line of explosions, it fell in. Then a few seconds later a gigantic explosion occurred, lighting the whole sky.
Everyone jumped up and down with joy as the light dimmed. Spector was no more, and that night Princess Toadstool held a great party at her castle. The Koopas, though still recovering from the attack on their kingdom, came too. Although Spector was gone, Ludwig knew in his heart that Corrupt was still alive, and that thought worried him for he knew Corrupt would strike even harder next time.
