Magic Time!

By Purple Koopa

Everything had been going normally since Bowser's last defeat. Roy kept stomping on Larry's plants, Larry was spying on Wendy, Wendy was making herself pretty, Iggy was in the gym, Ludwig was working on another invention, Morton kept talking, and Lemmy was busy on his website. Everyone was behaving as usual, except Kamek. He had an idea.

Kamek stirred over his cauldron. He grinned evilly. The green liquid inside the cauldron bubbled like crazy. Kamek announced, "This spell will defeat the Mario Brothers, sire!"

Bowser glanced at Kamek. "What does it do?" he questioned.

The Magikoopa replied, "It shall defeat the Mario Bros. by getting rid of their powers! Then, we can take over the Mushroom Kingdom without having to worry about those plumbers!"

The oversized turtle grinned nastily. "Perfect. We can take over the Mushroom Kingdom now, and then all of Plit!

Kamek slowly asked, "Do I get a raise for this?"

Bowser smirk of evilness quickly turned into rage. "If this works, I'll consider a raise. If it doesn't, I'll throw you into the lava pits."

Kamek gulped. He went back to his hideout and worked on his spell some more.

Meanwhile, in Mario's Pad, Mario was wearing a magican's cloak and hat. "I'm going to-a do magic for Peach's birthday!" he happily exclaimed.

Luigi stopped reading the newspaper and looked at Mario with a puzzled look on his face. "What tricks are you-a doing?"

Mario pulled out a large birthday cake from his hat. "Peach will-a love it!"

Luigi, slightly bored, quietly replied, "Yeah, sure," and kept reading the paper.

The red plumber sighed. He really wanted to impress Peach badly, with something he hadn't tried before. Suddenly, black smoke fizzled over Bowser's Castle. Luigi, startled by the sound of the spray, quickly leaped in shock. Mario chuckled a bit at Luigi, then looked at Bowser's Castle. "I wonder what-a that could be?" Mario blurted out. Quickly he jolted into action, taking off the play coat and hat. That was as far he got, however, as a large green bolt shot at the plumbers from the castle at jet speed, hitting them both. The brothers, dazed from the blast, fainted.

A few hours later, Mario started to open his eyes. He was staring right at the sun though, so it hurt. He stood up, still feeling a bit dizzy, and somehow different. He glanced at Luigi. Mario's vision was a bit blurry. He ran over to his brother, but noticed he wasn't running as fast as usual. He shook Luigi. "Wake up, Luigi! Something has happened!"

Luigi trembled, then got up slowly. "Wha... what-a happened?" said the green plumber.

"I don't know. But I feel a bit-a dizzy... and different."

"Me too."

Mario thought to himself, placing his hand on his chin. Suddenly, he leaped. He noticed that he wasn't jumping as high as he normally would.

Luigi rubbed his chin. "There is something very wrong-a here."

Mario thought some more, then came up with an idea. "Bowser must-a have taken our powers somehow. I can-a use magic tricks to daze him! He's so-a unlucky, he'll give up!" Mario explained.

Luigi grinned. "It just may work. Let's-a give it a try."

A few minutes later, Mario was riding Yoshi to Bowser's Castle. "C'mon, Yoshi," Mario begged Yoshi when they reached the front door. Yoshi was afraid of castles and shook his head no. Mario sighed, then went inside.

He walked a few steps, then suddenly, heard someone else walk a few steps. "It must be an echo," he thought. He walked further and noticed five Goomba guards. They noticed him at the same time he did them. Mario tried to jump on the armored goombas, but without his jumping power the hit barely hurt them. They laughed, knowing Bowser would give them a raise once they'd defeated the plumber. Our hero did not give up though, and punched one in the face. The Goomba fell down on its back. Mario smirked, knowing that he could still defeat these foes, and weakly jumped on the enemy lying on the floor. This hit defeated it, even without his powers. The other Goombas gasped, but entered the battle. Our plumber managed to dodge a couple Goombas, then dazed them all by slapping them with his magician's cape.

Mario checked every nook and cranny, staying hidden from foes, but couldn't find Bowser or any of the Koopalings. He thought a moment and then went to Peach's castle, where he found Bowser, the Koopalings, and Kamek, with Peach and The King tied up.

Bowser laughed evilly. "So, you found out the secret, have you?"

"What secret?" Mario asked, puzzled.

Bowser kept laughing. "I'm not telling any plumber around here!" he laughed.

Mario had a smirk on his face. "Well, I've come to-a do a magic show!"

Peach gasped. "Mario! You wouldn't dare!" the scared princess shrieked. Mario gave the princess a wink. Peach caught the message. Mario spun the cloak around himself and vanished out of sight.

Ludwig looked around. "Don't vorry, Dad, I've brought a invention in a time like this!" He pulled it out and pulled the lever. Of course it blew up on him, knocking him out.

Roy started throwing punches around the room. "I'll hit him soon enough! It'll knock him out!" While Roy kept punching, Mario appeared behind Roy. The Koopaling was unaware of this, and Mario pulled out his magician's hat and pulled it over Roy. It magically grew over Roy, and he got stuck. Muffled yells came from the hat. Mario cast another magic trick and the giant hat vanished, along with Roy.

Morton hopped out and started singing (badly). Mario pulled out a deck of cards and shoved it in his mouth. Morton swallowed it, and choked.

Wendy gave it a try with her candy rings, but Mario threw a coin at her bow. Suddenly, the Koopaling's bow vanished and Wendy ran off, needing to get another one.

Larry came out with a shovel, trying to hit Mario on the head. The blow seemed to knock Mario out, but our plumber was only playing dead. He then hopped up and used a pinwheel to create a whirlwind. Larry was blown away (for real).

Iggy strolled in and started trying to push Mario into a wall. Mario vanished behind the Koopaling, then reappeared and weakly punched him. Iggy felt much pain from it that he stormed out.

Lemmy was the last one left and tried to use his Freeze Gun to stop our hero in his tracks. Mario pulled out another set of cards and threw them at the blast. The cards froze and Lemmy tried to fire again. However, he was out of fire (ice) power, so he ran off.

Bowser looked surprised and glared at Kamek. Kamek sighed and entered the battle, proudly declaring, "You may have defeated the Koopalings, but your magic is just a phony! I'll show you real magic!"

Unknown to Kamek, however, the spell he'd used earlier has just worn off. Mario felt a happy tingle in his spine and realized that his powers were back. Kamek tried to cast a spell, but Mario raced up at an unstoppable speed and deliver a powerful uppercut. Kamek fell off his broom, dazed.

Bowser, shocked and speechless, started to sneak away. However, Mario went up and threw him out of the castle.

A few days later, Peach's birthday party was ready. Mario and Luigi were invited, of course. Peach commented to Mario, "Well, that was a truly magic feat!"

Luigi sighed as Mario chuckled before adding, "Would that do as my magic show for you?"

Yoshi peeked through the window. "Yoshi know a trick!" the green dino cheered.

Mario looked around and noticed Yoshi. "What?" our red plumber asked.

Yoshi lashed out his tongue at the cake and ate it. "See? Yoshi make cake go away!"
