It is a bright sunny day in the Mushroom Kingdom. (Don’t all stories start like that?) Inside the castle, Princess Peach gets a wonderful and completely random idea.
Peach: Hey, I just thought of something. That last trip to Isle Delfino was a huge ripoff. We spent half the trip worrying about Mario polluting the island, and to make matters worse, Bowser and his obnoxious son kidnapped me.
Toadsworth hears the princess’ anguish and comes to see what’s the matter.
Toadsworth: Is something the matter, Princess? (Wait, didn’t I just say that?)
Peach: Yes, that trip we took to Isle Delfino STUNK! I want to take a completely private trip accompanied only by Mario!
Toadsworth: Then it wouldn’t really be private, would it?
Peach: Uh… Well… You know what I mean! TOAD! I need you!
Toad steps in, eager to help.
Toad: Yes, Princess?
Peach: Could you please summon Mario for me?
She writes a quick letter.
Peach: And could you send him this letter?
Toad: OK!!!
Toad runs over to Mario’s house, saying hello to all the Toads he passes by. He leaps into the pipe that leads to Mario’s house and knocks three times on the door.
Mario: Who is it?
Toad: It’s me! Toad!
Mario opens the door; he and Luigi are having a lunch of Nutty Cakes and Koopasta.
Mario: What brings you here, Toad?
Toad: I have a message for you from the princess.
Mario opens the letter and reads the princess’ lovely handwriting.
Dear Mario,
Please come over to the castle, I have some important matters to discuss with you.
Yours Truly,
Princess Toadstool (Peach)
Mario: Ah, I’ll be right over!
Mario and Toad walk over to the castle. Toad leads Mario to the princess’ private quarters.
Peach: Ah, Mario, so good to see you. I expect you’re wondering why I called you here. Do you remember that last trip we took to Isle Delfino?
Mario: Yeah, I saved you from Bowser with the help of that water pump FLUDD.
Peach: Yes, though the end of that trip was fun, we only spent half of our vacation having fun. We didn’t really live that trip out to the fullest. I want to go again. Just you and I this time.
Mario: I’d love to go! Oh. But what about the castle?
Peach: Toadsworth and Toad will watch it for me. I’ll get my jet ready.
Mario: The pink one?
Peach: Yes, the pink one. Let’s throw a going away party before we leave!
Mario: That’s a great idea! I’ll start sending the invitations!
So Mario and Peach start setting up. The day of the party finally arrives. People from the Shiver Region, Dry Dry Desert, Lavalava Island, Nimbus Land, and even Daisy from Sarasaland have come to Peach’s party. She begins her speech (like she does at every party).
Peach: Thank you all for coming to this goodbye party. As most of you may know, Mario and I will be taking another trip to the wonderful Isle Delfino. Though we may be gone for a while, the castle will not be empty nor will the kingdom lack a government. I am pleased to announce that while I am gone, the castle will be in command of my steward Toadsworth and my loyal servant Toad.
Toadsworth and Toad take a bow. The guests give them a huge cheer.
Peach: With that said, let the party begin!
The guests all clap for a final time and then help themselves to the festivities and desserts. Toad comes down from the staircase to join in on a chat between Luigi and Daisy.
Toad: Hi! How are you guys doing?
Luigi: Hi Toad! Is this what that letter was all about?
Toad: It sure is.
Daisy: It’s good to see you, Toad. Are you exited about being the boss of things while Peach is gone?
Toad: Yeah! Peach said she’d give me a raise if I did a good job.
Toad notices Mallow by the stairs.
Toad: Hey, Mallow, over here!
Mallow: Hi Toad! I haven’t seen you in quite a while now. Who are you guys?
Luigi: Hi! I’m Luigi! Mario’s brother!
Mallow: Oh, Mario told me about you. And who are you?
Daisy: Hi, I’m Daisy! Peach’s sister and Princess of Sarasaland!
Mallow: Wow, I’ve been to Sarasaland. It’s beautiful! It’s an honor to meet you all!
They talk for awhile, mostly about recent adventures they have been on. Twenty minutes later...
Toad: Hey, after things start to settle down, want to come back for a little get together before you all have to go home?
Daisy: Great idea, I have to go back to Sarasaland sometime, so I might as well stop by while I’m still in town.
The party ends and everyone goes to the airstrip to say goodbye as Peach and Mario takeoff. A bit later, Luigi, Daisy, and Mallow come by the castle as they promised. Toad greets them and takes them to his room. They enjoy a nice pot of Koopa Tea with Yoshi Cookies (yes it’s basically a tea party).
Mallow: This tea is great! Where did you say it’s from?
Toad: Koopa Village! Freshly brewed by Tayce T. with real Koopa Leaves.
They continue eating when all of a sudden…
BOOM!
Luigi: What was that?!
Daisy: It came from Peach’s private quarters!
Toad: Oh no! That’s where Toadsworth was cleaning up. We have to go see if he’s ok!
They sneak into the room where the noise was heard. They see Toadsworth in ropes. And something they never expected...
Mallow: It’s Bowser and his Koopalings!!!
Luigi: And that’s Cackletta and Fawful.
Daisy: They joined forces?
Bowser: Hey, we were here first!
Cackletta: No you weren’t! We were! It was our idea anyway!
Bowser: No it wasn’t! Taking over Peach’s Castle while she and Mario were away was my idea!
As they continue arguing...
Toad: Ok, I guess they haven’t joined forces.
Mallow: We have to stop them!
Daisy: They haven’t seen us yet. We should take this time to get our items for battle.
They run off silently in search of items. Luigi heads home to get his hammer and his best jumping shoes. Daisy goes off to get recovery items. Mallow goes to retrieve his new and improved Froggie Stick and to get items from Tayce T. Toad goes into his room to get his bombs (from Wario’s Woods) and a tape recorder. He goes off to meet Toadette (from Mario Kart: Double Dash).
Toad: Toadette, I wanted to tell you that I may not come back from this mission.
Toadette: Please be careful!
Toad: I want to tell you a joke before I leave. What happened to the Mushroomer who parked in front of a fire hydrant?
Toadette: I give up.
Toad: He got his car "Toad".
Toadette: HAHOOHOOHAHAHOOHEE!!! That’s a good one, Toad!
With that being done, Toad meets his comrades at the castle gates. They check to see if everyone is ready and they dash into the private quarters. Bowser and Cackletta are still arguing.
Daisy: Alright you villains! You have ten seconds to free Toadsworth and exit this castle! I don’t want things to have to get ugly!
Bowser: Hey, I have an idea! First team to destroy these four losers will be the new rulers of Mushroom Kingdom!
Cackletta: Hmm. That sounds fun! Fawful! Take them out!
Fawful: Hahahahahahahahahaha! Now is when I take you all down with one fell swoop fink rats!
Toad: And just who are you supposed to be?
Fawful: I am Cackletta’s most loyal subject! Who is named Fawful!
Toad: Ah, put a sock in it! Take this!
Toad knocks Fawful with a bomb. He falls limply to the ground.
Bowser: Koopalings, ATTACK!!!
The seven Koopalings run out at them.
Luigi: Taste my hammer!
He successfully knocks back Larry and Roy, but takes a scratch from Lemmy, who got him from behind.
Daisy: EAT THIS!!!
She pummels Wendy and Lemmy (for hitting Luigi).
Morton: You will pay, for hitting, striking, attacking my sister, brother, siblings and you will suffe-
Daisy shut his mouth with duct tape that she brought just for the occasion.
Daisy: Ha! I knew that duct tape would come in handy.
Mallow: Go away you monsters!
Mallow summons a Star Rain attack, which knocks the remaining Koopalings out.
Bowser: What?! The Koopalings lost?! Oh well. I came prepared, you see. GET THE CANNONS!!!
Luigi, Daisy, Toad, and Mallow fall into trap doors leading to cannons. They are blasted out of Mushroom Kingdom.
Luigi: AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!
Daisy: AAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEE!!!
Toad: OW OW OW OW OW OW OW OW OW!!!
Mallow: WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!
Bowser: (as the team vanishes from sight) I guess I won, huh?
Cackletta: AAA! This isn’t over yet!!!
The next day...
Luigi: Unn. What happened? *he observes his surroundings* DAISY, TOAD, MALLOW!!!
Luigi rushes to his unconscious friends.
Mallow: Oh, am I alive?
Luigi: Mallow! You’re ok!
Mallow: Yeah! I am. Look! Toad is waking up!
Toad: Did I make it through?
Luigi: You sure did! But… what about… DAISY?! NOOOOOO!!!!!!
Daisy: What? I’m fine. You don’t have to yell.
Toad: But, how did we survive?
Mallow: It must be because of this strangely soft yellow ground.
Daisy: Wait, yellow ground? Woah! It’s bright yellow.
Luigi is standing on the edge of the yellow ground.
Luigi: Uh… I think I know why it’s yellow. WE’RE STANDING ON A GIANT SLEEPING WIGGLER!!!
The Wiggler starts to grumble and wake up from Luigi’s yelling. The four heroes jump off the worm.
Daisy: Great going, Luigi!
Mallow: Don’t worry, I’ll knock it out with one of my Shocker attacks.
The sky turns dark. A huge bolt of yellow lightning splits the clouds, landing on the Wiggler’s noggin. Its HP drops from 100 down to 0. It falls down paralyzed.
Toad: Woah! That was awesome, Mallow!
Mallow: Ain’t it the truth?
Luigi: I know this place, there is a bridge to Mushroom Kingdom a few miles from here.
Daisy: Well, let’s get going.
They travel far into the dense forest ahead. Meanwhile, back at Peach’s Castle...
Fawful: Cackletta! The Wiggler that we have sent has been defeated by the Mallow that I hate.
Bowser: Ha! My turn now! Kammy Koopa, you’re on!
Kammy Koopa: Yes, your wretchedness. They will never elude the next trap.
Back in the forest, Toad attempts to explain the situation to Mallow.
Mallow: Alright, could you run that past me again Toad?
Toad: Ok, I’ll tell you yet again. We have to somehow manage to defeat Bowser and Cackletta’s forces, rescue Toadsworth, save all of Plit, and one way or another complete all this before Peach and Mario return. Capish?
Mallow: When are they going to return?
Toad: In approximately two weeks, give or take.
Daisy: We are so doomed.
Luigi: Aw, don’t be so nervous. The bridge is right up ahead!
As they near the bridge, Kammy Koopa flies into view.
Luigi: Hey! It’s Kammy Koopa!
Kammy Koopa: Hee hee hee! Here’s a little gift from King Bowser!
She raises her wand and a 20-ton rock falls in front of the bridge.
Kammy Koopa: Ha! That bridge is the only way back to Mushroom Kingdom! See ya!
She flies away. Well, ok, she didn’t really fly away. She is actually hiding in a nearby tree to see if it all goes according to plans.
Mallow: Stand back, everyone! Let me take care of this!
Mallow summons up another Shocker attack (so the sky turns dark, clouds open up, etc). The bolt strikes the boulder. When the clouds and sparks clear away, they realize that the attack had no effect whatsoever. Kammy Koopa silently giggles to herself and the rest of the team throws awkward glances at Mallow.
Mallow: … I don’t know why I thought that would work…
Toad steps forward. Mallow sits up against a tree. His face is bright red.
Toad: Well, if Mallow is finished, then I guess I’ll just smash this rock with one of my straight arm punches.
He steps back, winds up, and…
Toad: OW!!! OW MY HAND!!! OW OW OW OW OW!!!
Daisy: (to Luigi) Great! Now Toad’s in pain, Mallow’s embarrassed, AND WE HAVE NO WAY TO BREAK THIS THING!!!
All of a sudden, a sound is heard from Toad’s backpack. RIIIIING!!! RIIIIING!!!
Toad: (recovering from his pain) Oh, that’s for me!
Toad turns on his cellphone. Peach is on the other end.
Toad: Hello?
Peach: Hi Toad! Just wanted to check up on my best servant! It’s so weird, I tried calling at the castle, but I kept on hearing this voice that said my line has been disconnected!
Toad: Haha. I wonder how that could have happened.
Peach: Well anyway, I’m having a blast with Mario! We relaxed in Gelato Beach and went to Pinna Park! Then I got a Super Pianta Massage in the Plaza! We are going to visit Bianco Hills and Noki Bay tomorrow.
Toad: Wow! That’s great! Well, I have to go now. Bye!
His friends are staring at him, mouths agape...
Toad: What’s with you guys? It was just Peach.
Luigi: You had a cellphone all along? And you never even told us?
Toad: Why bother? What use would a cellphone be now? What do you want me to do? Call and order a giant pulley?
Daisy: Hmm… He’s got a point.
Mallow: Give me that!
Mallow swipes the phone away and dials his home phone number.
Mallow: Mom? Hi, it’s Mallow. Can we get a lift from the Royal Bus?
Queen Nimbus: We? What do you mean we?
Mallow: Me, Toad, Luigi, and Daisy were having a little get together after the party and Bowser and Cackletta took over the castle and rocketed us out of Mushroom Kingdom and we were about to cross the bridge when Kammy Koopa blocked the path and we need a lift across.
Queen Nimbus: Sure! I’ll send the bus right over! Oh, and Mallow? Please remember to take breaks next time you have a long sentence. You’re starting to sound like Morton Koopa! Bye!
Mallow: This is great! The Royal Bus will be here in about an hour!
As they wait, they do some things to pass time like picking fruits and vegetables for the trip (they didn’t bring many rations) and criticizing Mallow for his attempt to destroy the boulder. Finally, the bus arrives. Kammy Koopa flies off to report her failure to Bowser.
Mallow: About time you got here!
Lakitu Conductor: Sorry for the inconvenience, Prince Mallow. Now it will take about four days to reach Nimbus Land. Don’t worry, we’ll provide meals and I can expand the size of the bus for when you need to sleep.
Daisy: Wait a minute, four days?! It only took you an hour to get here!
Lakitu Conductor: Did you see how fast I was just going? If I went that fast, you’d all fall off! I’m sorry, but it will have to be no less than four days.
Luigi: (to himself) Some Royal Bus!
Meanwhile, back at Peach’s castle, Kammy Koopa returns to tell Bowser what happened.
Kammy Koopa: Your Filthiness, those weaklings couldn’t break the rock, but they got the Royal Bus to take them to Nimbus Land. They are almost there!
Cackletta: Hee hee hee hee hee! My turn again! Fawful! Come here!
Fawful: What is the wish that you would like me to fulfill?
Cackletta: Assemble your finest troops and destroy those fools!
After many days of boredom and wishing the darn bus would go faster, eventually, the bus arrives in Nimbus Land. They arrive on the night of the third day, giving them a chance to try out Nimbus Land’s Dream Cushions. They wake up the next day feeling fully refreshed.
Toad: Ah. I feel fully refreshed. (You saw that coming, didn’t you?) My dream was about me eating all kinds of tasty sweets and cookies made exclusively by Tayce T. and Chef Torte.
Mallow: I dreamt that I was as light as a cloud. Until I found out that I am one.
Luigi: I saw Mario and Peach coming home to see the disaster that has happened.
Daisy: Wow, that’s weird, because my dream was that a whole bunch of Cackletta’s forces came to destroy us. And we all had to fight them back. And the really strange part is that I feel this is going to happen in just a few minutes.
A few minutes later, the screams from all the residents of Nimbus Land are heard.
Nimbus Land Residents: AAAAAAAAAH!!! INTRUDERS!!!
The team runs outside to see what’s the matter. Daisy’s dream had come true.
Luigi: It’s Fawful!!! And there’s Popple with Birdo!!! And, oh my gosh… Cackletta has revived Trunkle!!! (If you don’t remember him, he was a boss in Mario and Luigi who tried to attack Peach in Teehee Valley.)
Daisy: Déjà vu! Luigi! You take Popple! Mallow! You go for Trunkle! Toad! You take Fawful! And I’ll join Luigi and fight Birdo! Everybody, CHARGE!!!
Fawful: ATTACK!!!
Ok, now the teams are going to battle. Each fighter has 100 HP. Though all these events occur simultaneously, I will describe each battle one at a time.
Luigi and Daisy versus Popple and Birdo!
Luigi: Popple? What are you doing working for Cackletta? And why are you with Birdo?
Popple: Cackletta said I would get half the coins in Peach’s treasury if I was successful. And, well, you know Birdo. But anyway, on to the stealing!
Popple runs over and steals Luigi’s
hammer. Then he runs back around and knocks Luigi on the head with it!
Luigi: 85 HP
Luigi: Ouch! Why you little…
Luigi beats up Popple good, but fails
to get his hammer back when Popple retreats.
Popple: 80 HP
Daisy: Alright Birdo, taste my fury!
Daisy goes all Kung-Fu style on Birdo,
doing massive damage.
Birdo: 60 HP
The pink dino retaliates by spitting
eggs at Daisy like a machine gun.
Daisy: 80 HP
Luigi: You better be ready to eat my
nasty green… OUCH!!!! Toad! Why did you throw that at me?!
Luigi: 80 HP
Toad: Sorry, my aim was a little off!
Luigi: I’ll say it was!
When Luigi is talking, Popple walks
up and thrashes Daisy with Luigi’s hammer while Birdo cheers him on.
Daisy: 30 HP
Daisy: Ow! Luigi! Ow! A little help please! Ow!
Luigi: Here I come, Daisy!
Luigi beats down Popple mercilessly
and recovers his hammer. Daisy wakes up and starts beating down on Birdo.
LUIGI AND DAISY WIN!!!
Luigi: Are you alright Daisy?
Daisy: I’m ok, I’ll just have this Ultra Shroom and I’ll be all better.
Mallow versus Trunkle!
Mallow: What was Daisy thinking? I can’t beat this thing. Hey you! Why are you with Cackletta? Don’t you have any common sense?
Trunkle: ROOOOOOOOAAAAR!!!
Mallow: I asked for common sense when it didn’t even have a brain. Alright! Eat this! *starts to summon a Shocker attack* Oh wait, maybe I shouldn’t use Shocker. Remember the last time I tried to use Shocker on a rock. Oh well, I can just do this instead.
Mallow brandishes his Froggie Stick and strikes Trunkle. The attack bounces off.
Mallow: Uh oh… Bad idea… Really bad idea.
Trunkle lets out a huge roar and lifts
up Mallow with one of his giant fists. He waves Mallow around and throws
him against a castle wall.
Mallow: 5 HP
Mallow: Ow! I… can’t… give up… And I’m not gonna cry. Wait, the tree on his head, it might be a weakness. That’s it!!!
Mallow leaps up onto Trunkle’s head.
(Wow, Mallow must have been practicing his jumping.) He ruthlessly pounds
on the tree with his Froggie Stick. Trunkle wails in pain and collapses
to the ground.
MALLOW WINS!!!
Mallow: Wow, that ended quickly.
Toad versus Fawful
Fawful: Ah! You are Toad! Now is when I get my revenge on you.
Toad: Oh, shut up! Take this you foul creature! VEGETABLE ATTACK!!!
Toad pulls up multiple veggies from
the ground and hurls them at Fawful.
Fawful: 70 HP
One of those vegetables was a bit off
target and hit Luigi in the head. (Remember, from before.)
Luigi: OUCH!!! Toad! Why did you throw that at me?
Toad: Sorry, my aim was a little off.
Fawful: OW! OW! OUCHNESS!!! I have fury! Now you will eat this Fink Rat!!!
Fawful unleashes a wave of blasts from his headgear, knocking Toad down.
Toad: Do you really think you can take me down with a few cheap shots? Time for a little melee action!
Toad jump kicks Fawful and the two battle
with a series of punches, kicks, and headbutts (well, actually Fawful was
the only one who headbutted). Toad is much stronger than Fawful and beats
him up with ease. Toad: 80 HP
Fawful: 5 HP
Toad: Getting tired? Why don’t I finish this with one of my little explosive friends?
Toad pulls out one of his bombs, Fawful reacts in an unexpected way.
Fawful: Hahahahahahahahahaha! Now is when I use my headgear to absorb your energy. Then I will be placing you in a new body. A body that is very different from your own.
Fawful’s machine goes into vacuum mode. The nozzle is pointed directly at Toad.
Toad: NOOOOOOOO!!! HEEEELP MEEEEEEEEE!!!
Toad has been completely absorbed by Fawful’s headgear. Before Toad is completely absorbed, he throws his backpack so that his friends can find it.
Fawful: Now that you are immobile, I will continue the battle by knocking you out of your consciousness!
Fawful rams his headgear against a wall.
Toad: 0 HP
Toad: Ow! Oooooh… everything… growing… fuzzy…
Fawful: Now is when I, Fawful, claim victory over the Toad that I hate.
Fawful silently flies away without gaining the attention of the other heroes. As he flies above Mushroom Kingdom, Fawful diligently searches for a body to place the Mushroom Retainer inside of. After a while, he finds a match.
Fawful: This body has perfectness. Now I will place this Fink Rat inside of it.
Fawful releases Toad’s unconscious self into the new body. He flies away laughing his evil high-pitched laugh. Meanwhile, back in Nimbus Land, the other three have defeated their opponents.
Mallow: Don’t mess with me or you're sure to get zapped!
Daisy: OH YEAH!!! I RULE!!! I RULE!!!
Luigi: Hey you guys, where’s Toad? Wasn’t he fighting Fawful?
Daisy: I don’t know. Where did they go?
Mallow: Let’s look around Nimbus Land for some clues.
Back at Peach’s Castle...
Fawful: Cackletta! I have just defeated the Toad that I hate and placed him in a different body.
Cackletta: Hahaha! I guess I win then! Get lost, Bowser!
Bowser: Uh, no you didn’t! The goal was to defeat all of them. You only beat one. Actually, you didn’t beat him either, you just placed him in a new body.
Cackletta: Well you got me there. But I can still win! Fawful! Finish them! My turn is not over yet.
Fawful flies away to Nimbus Land. Meanwhile, the group is still looking for clues.
Luigi: Look everyone! It’s Toad’s backpack!
They look in and find all his bombs. Then Daisy finds something strange.
Daisy: Wait a minute, is that a tape recorder?
She presses "Play" and out comes the most annoying laugh on all of Plit.
Toadette’s Voice: HAHOOHOOHAHAHOOHEE!!!
Luigi, Daisy, and Mallow: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!! NOOOOOOOOOOO!!! IT’S TOO ANNOYING TO BEAR!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
Fawful flies behind them. Daisy grabs his left foot as she sees him.
Daisy: Aha! Gotcha! Thought you could escape, huh?
Fawful: Ouch! Ouch!!! Ouchness!!!
They all tie him to a post and interrogate him.
Mallow: You and Toad were battling last time we saw him. You both disappeared. What did you do to Toad?!
Luigi: Tell us NOW!!!
Fawful: Never will I be telling you!
Daisy: Ok then. I guess I’ll have to implement other methods of persuasion.
She pulls out Toad’s tape recorder.
Fawful: A tape recorder?
Daisy: Yes, now tell us where Toad is OR ELSE!
Fawful: Or else what?
Daisy pushes "Play" and out comes Toadette’s horribly annoying laughter.
Toadette’s Voice: HAHOOHOOHAHAHOOHEE!!!
Fawful: AAAAAAH!!! Do your worstness.
Daisy pushes the button numerous times. Finally, Fawful gives in.
Fawful: Ok, you win, I will be telling you what happened to Toad. We were battling, and Toad was going to claim himself victorious over myself. Before he was winning the fight, I sucked him up with my most wonderful headgear. He became defeated and I had been placing him in a new body. Now I will be running away from you.
Fawful runs away leaving his headgear behind.
Mallow: Well, he’s gone. But he left his headgear behind. Let’s examine it!
After some close inspection, Luigi finds something.
Luigi: Hey! That’s the Gadd Science Logo. This was made by Professor E. Gadd!!! Give me that cellphone.
He calls the number for Gadd Science Inc. A familiar voice is heard on the other line.
Voice: Hello, and welcome to Gadd Science Inc.
Luigi: Wait, I heard that voice before. You’re FLUDD!!!
FLUDD: Correct. I am FLUDD. The Flash Liquidizing Ultra Dousing Device.
Luigi: Please put Gadd on, will you?
FLUDD transfers his call and Gadd picks up.
Luigi: Gadd! It’s Luigi! How do you use that headgear of yours? And how did that lunatic Fawful get his hands on it?
Gadd: I gave it to him. I really ought to stop giving away my weapons to shady characters. But anyway, how to use my Suck n’ Blast 6000! One of my finest creations. To blast, press the yellow button, sucking is the red button. When you’ve absorbed something, press the yellow button to release it. And to fly, press the blue button.
Luigi: Thanks! Bye now! Well, now we know how to use it. Let’s go look for Toad!
They leave Nimbus Land and head towards Peach’s Castle. Meanwhile, in a strange place...
Toad: Ooooogh… unnnnn… Where am I? … What happened? … Where’s Fawful?
Toad finds himself in a strange room on a bed. The room has many bright colors on the walls and a few green balls with one single yellow star on each of them. He jumps out and goes over to a nearby mirror. His mouth gaoes open.
Toad: I’VE BECOME LEMMY KOOPA!!!
Toad faints for several hours. Later that day.
Toad: Ah, that was a good faint. Oh no, my voice is the same! If I’m caught, they’ll know I’m Toad. I know, I’ll jump out the window. No, that’s a bad idea. I’ll just walk out quietly and- Uh oh.
As he opens the door, he sees all the Koopalings sitting down for lunch.
Ludwig: Wow, you sure slept late.
Wendy: About time you woke up.
Larry: What kept you? You slept through breakfast.
Toad: (in his best Lemmy impersonation) Uh… Insomnia… I think…
Iggy: Well that’s good enough for me.
Roy: Say Lemmy, you sound a little strange. You feeling ok? Want me to punch it out?
Toad: Uh… Your ears must be clogged because I feel fine!
Morton: I, me, myself cannot believe, think, wonder why our brother, sibling Lemmy has slept, napped, slumbered through the breakfast, meal that I have cooked, prepared, made for him. I mean if...
Toad: AAAAAARGH!!! I CAN’T TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!!
Toad bolts out the door and exits the castle. Morton is still talking.
Toad: How can Lemmy LIVE with HIM as a BROTHER?! Darn it! I KNEW I should have tried the window!
He runs towards Peach’s castle. When he gets to the entrance of Toad Town, he sees his friends there as well.
Luigi: Look! It’s Lemmy Koopa! Take him down, Mallow!
Toad speaks up before Mallow can zap him.
Toad: Wait you guys! It’s me! Toad!
Daisy: Go away Lemmy, you can’t fool us!
Mallow: No wait, his voice, it is Toad! How did you get stuck in Lemmy’s body?
Toad: It’s all because of that Fink Rat, uh, I mean Rat Fink Fawful. But without his headgear, I’ll never be myself again.
Luigi explains that he has the headgear and they use it to take Toad out of Lemmy’s body. Lemmy lays asleep on the ground.
Toad: Ah! It feels so good to be me again! Thanks everyone. Now let’s go save Plit!
Inside Peach’s castle...
Fawful: I apologize for my failureness. They just got Toad back.
Bowser: Koopalings! Did you round up all the Toads?
Lemmy had been transported to the rest of them with Kammy Koopa’s help.
Wendy: We kept on looking, but there is one Toad we can’t find.
Ludwig: We believe that it is the daughter of the eccentric Toad from the radio show. (Remember in Paper Mario when that one guy on the radio would ask for an item and give you a better one in return if you found him within five minutes? That’s him.)
Bowser: Ah, it’s alright, we got most of them. But wait a minute, who is the daughter?
Meanwhile, our heroes take a step into Toad Town and see that it is completely deserted.
Toad: Bowser must have kidnapped the Toads. Wait a second, did you hear something just now?
A rustling in the bushes was what they heard. Soon, Toadette runs from out of the bush when she sees Toad.
Toadette: Toad!
Toad: Toadette! What are you doing here? Where are the others? Tell all.
Toadette: Bowser ordered the Koopalings to storm Toad Town and kidnap all the Toads. My dad told me to hide in Forever Forest until it was safe.
Daisy: Who’s your dad?
Toadette: The Toad from the radio show!
Luigi: Wow, why didn’t I realize that before? You have the same mushroom on your head, the same clothes. Hey, if you’re his daughter, does that mean you can teleport?
Toadette: I’ve practiced, but I can’t do it yet. Anyway, I went into the forest, I used a rope to find my way back. Then a group of Forest Fuzzies bit the rope and dragged me all over the forest. I was left in front of Boo’s Mansion. I used the pipe into Toad Town Tunnels. I saw all the Toads locked up in a cage. The Koopalings were inside the Tunnels so I ran towards the exit. Then I ran and hid in a bush. So, here I am now.
Toad: Thanks Toadette, we have to save Plit now. Don’t worry, your dad will be back soon!
Toadette: Let me help!
Toad: No! It’s too dangerous!
Toadette: I understand. Go save the Toads!
With that, the four dash into the castle where they face off with Bowser and Cackletta’s forces.
Bowser: Ah, so good of you all to come. Now I will destroy you all.
Cackletta: No, I will defeat them!
Larry: Wait, why don’t you both destroy them and then destroy each other afterwards?
Cackletta: Hmm… Good point.
Bowser: Here we come!
Luigi, Daisy, Toad, and Mallow: BRING IT ON!!!
Here comes another battle sequence. Once again, I will describe them one at a time even though they are occurring simultaneously. Although the battles may be hard to follow, I ask you to try your best. These battles will be much more action-packed than the previous ones.
Toad and Mallow versus Cackletta’s Team
Toad: Fawful! You will pay for turning me into Lemmy! Take this!
Toad launches a bomb at the headgearless Fawful. Fawful kicks it away from himself.
Fawful: I have been practicing for the time when you would come for revenge and that time is now.
Mallow blasts Cackletta with his lightning
attacks and then smacks her with the Froggie Stick. Cackletta attacks by
turning herself into a swarm of poison bats. Mallow is weak and Cackletta
fires many lightning bolts to finish him off.
Mallow: 20 HP
Mallow: Oog… You won’t be winning so easily, you fiend!
Mallow eats one of Tayce T.’s Deluxe
Feasts and is fully recovered. He retaliates with a Snowy attack.
Cackletta: 50 HP
Fawful takes back his headgear without Luigi noticing and fires a giant blast at Toad.
Toad: AAAAAAAAAHHH!!! Well, if I know you, your probably still a weakling. IT’S CLOBBERING TIME!!! (That quote was from the Fantastic Four.)
Toad rushes in and beats up Fawful again.
He is too close up for Fawful to retaliate with a blast from his headgear.
Toad pulls out a bomb and blows it up right in front of Fawful. Both take
severe damage.
Toad and Fawful: 30 HP
Cackletta recovers from the Snowy attack
and drops Mallow in a pit, making him heavier. Mallow strikes back with
a rapid attack from his Froggie Stick. His now sluggish movements make
him miss a few times.
Cackletta: 25 HP
Cackletta: Ahh! How dare you?! Take this you fluffy little brat!
She claws him harshly.
Mallow: 50 HP
Mallow: OW! That’s it! You’re going down!
Mallow slams a hard hit with his Froggie Stick. Cackletta falls down defeated. Toad and Fawful get up. They are weary from the blast.
Fawful: Now is when I will be absorbing your energy with my headge-
Toad threw a vegetable in Fawful’s mouth
and then trashes his headgear by slamming it against the ground. Then Toad
pummels him one last time.
TOAD AND MALLOW WIN!!!
Toad: Mallow, are you alright?
Mallow: I was going to ask you the same thing. I guess we won.
Toad: Wow, we did… OH YEAH!!!
Luigi and Daisy versus Bowser’s Team
Luigi: Bowser! Let the Toads go now!
Bowser: Never! Hahaha!
Daisy: You monster! Eat fist!
Daisy smacks him in the head. She hit him good, but it wasn’t really good enough to do much damage. Bowser: 90 HP
Bowser: Hahaha! Koopalings! Destroy them!
The Koopalings rush out. Luigi smashes them with his hammer, but they recover quickly. Daisy continues the fight by duct taping Morton’s mouth shut.
Daisy: I am so glad I brought that duct tape! Now let’s see how they like some Kung-Fu Princess Style.
She smashes the Koopalings and they all fall down.
Luigi: We beat your Koopalings, Bowser! What have you got now?
Bowser: AAAH! I’ll take you on myself!
Bowser breathes fire on them. They take
serious damage.
Luigi and Daisy: 45 HP
Daisy: Woah! I forgot he could do that!
Luigi: We have to fight him at the same time! You hit him high!
Daisy: And you hit him low!
They do as they said, getting their
revenge on Bowser for burning them.
Bowser: 50 HP
Bowser then retaliates by doing a hip drop on them.
Luigi and Daisy: NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Luigi and Daisy: 5 HP
They are completely flattened when all of a sudden...
Toad and Mallow: Get off of my friends!!!
They smash Bowser until he rolls off Luigi and Daisy. Then all four defeat him!
Daisy: WOOOHOOOO!!!! WE RULE!!!
After Luigi and Daisy thank their friends, they use Bowser’s cannons to launch them all back to where they came from. They free all the Toads from their prison and peace returns to Mushroom Kingdom. Soon, the day comes when Peach and Mario return home. The invasion will remain a secret for now. They throw another party and Peach begins her speech.
Peach: Thank you all for welcoming us so warmly. I would like to thank Toad and Toadsworth for guarding my castle so well and I am pleased to announce that I will give them both a very generous raise!
The crowd goes wild. As the crowd starts to settle down, Toad steps in on a conversation between Luigi, Daisy, and Mallow.
Toad: Hi guys!
Mallow: Hi Toad!
Luigi: Those last few weeks were pretty crazy.
Daisy: They sure were. I hope that never happens again.
Toad: I’ll bet none of us do
They continue talking. All of Mushroom Kingdom is now at peace. Or at least until a few days later.
BOOM!
