Act 1: The Attempted Murder...

On one particular, normal day, Daisy is visiting Peach at her castle. They have just finished having lunch and are about ready to go on the stroll they always take together whenever Daisy is visiting.

Peach: Well, you ready to go for a stroll?

Daisy: You bet!

Peach opens the castle doors and they walk out. Just as they get outside, an unfamiliar car drives by. The driver rolls the tinted window down, pulls a gun out, and aims at Daisy. Peach notices the gun, but unfortunately, Daisy wasn't even paying attention. Peach shrieks at the sight of the gun, but before Daisy looks toward the same direction, the gun is fired and Daisy is shot in the side. She collapses as the driver just drives off. Peach nervously pulls out her cell phone and calls Mario and Luigi. We cut to E. Gadd, who is talking to Peach, Mario, and Luigi, who's in a detective outfit.

Peach: Well? What happened? Is she still alive? Is she gonna live?!

Gadd: Woah, slow down, Peach... She's asleep right now.

Mario: Any other serious injuries besides a bullet being inside her?

Gadd: Well, the bullet hit and broke one of her ribs. She's in awful pain right now, so we'll have to wait at least five days before I try to take the bullet out. The reason we have to wait so long is because she might die if I try to take the bullet out now...

Peach sits down. Luigi has a look in his eyes that shows he wants revenge. Then, he looks to Peach.

Luigi: Peach, did you see who did this?

Peach: (shaking nervously) I don't know... it all happened so fast... I didn't even think of looking at the licence plate... cuz I was so nervous... But I did pay attention to which direction the car was going; it was going to the right side of the castle, with the driver's seat was facing me and Daisy.

Luigi: ... I'm gonna find out who did this.

Luigi starts to walk out the door when Peach stops him.

Peach: Luigi, don't! Daisy's still alive, but if you go out there he might kill you... Please don't go out there.

Luigi: Peach, I'm a proven detective... I won't let Daisy down...

Mario: He's right, you know... I believe Luigi can do it...

Peach sighs.

Mario: And don't worry, I've got his back.

Luigi: Mario! ... I've got to do this on my own...

Mario: Luigi, don't argue. I'm going with you.

Peach: Please, Luigi... Do it for Daisy. She would want you to have backup.

Luigi pauses for a minute.

Luigi: ... Okay...

Peach sits back down.

Luigi: C'mon, Mario.

Luigi and Mario head out the door.

Gadd: Don't worry, Peach. They both are proven heroes.

Peach: Yes, I know... but for some reason I have a really bad feeling...

E. Gadd looks through the window at Daisy, who's still asleep. His reflection can be seen in the glass.

Gadd: … So do I, Peach ... So do I...

Act 2: Luigi's New Case

Luigi and Mario are looking for clues around the castle when Luigi finds something.

Luigi: Mario...

Mario goes over to Luigi.

Luigi: Look... I found some bullet shells...

Mario looks at them as Luigi looks around some more. Luigi finds tire tracks on the grass.

Luigi: (talking to himself) I have a feeling that this is gonna take a long time...

Later, Mario and Luigi have returned to the Mushroom Kingdom Hospital after a long day of looking for clues. Peach stands up.

Peach: Anything?

Luigi: Well, we found these.

Luigi shows Peach the shells.

Mario: ... And this...

Mario holds up a gun, using his other gloved hand to cover it.

Luigi: We found that gun in the dumpster uptown. Thankfully, we got the gun right before the dump truck left.

Peach: You going to see whose fingerprints are on it?

Luigi: We were just about to do that.

Fade to 30 minutes later, back at the hospital.

Peach: Whose fingerprints?!

Mario: A guy named Mark Kooperson, son of old man Kooperson.

Luigi: We're gonna try to find him tomorrow...

Act 3: The Suspect... Found

The camera shows Mario and Luigi knocking on someone’s door. The door opens after a few knocks.

Person: Yeah...?

Mario: Mark Kooperson?

Mark: Yeah, it's me.

Luigi: I hate to say this... but, you're under arrest.

Mark: What?! What the-

Mario handcuffs Mark.

Mario: C'mon!

Later at the police station...

Luigi: We know we found your fingerprints on that gun!

Mark: It's my gun, but I didn't go out and shoot Daisy!

Mario: Can you prove it?

Mark: Well, no, but you gotta believe me!

Policeman: You guys go ahead. I'll handle the rest.

Mario: Thanks.

Mario and Luigi leave after that, and the policeman locks up Mark. Mario and Luigi stop by the next day. They get the policeman and go to the cell to ask Mark some questions. However, Mark won't answer to anything. That night, a mysterious person sneaks into the jail. They quietly sneak to Mark's cell, and saw the bars off. Mark wakes up and sees them doing so. After the bars are completely sawed off, the person grabs Mark's arm and they both run off. The next day, Mario, Luigi and the policeman go back to ask Mark more questions and get him to answer. But when they get to his cell, they see the bars are sawed off, with Mark nowhere in sight.

Policeman: Well, he outsmarted us...

The policeman picks up a dull knife that was on the floor.

Luigi: We'll look for him. First stop: his house.

Mario, Luigi and the policeman all go to Mark's house. They find Mark laying on his couch with blood on his chest and a gun in his right hand.

Mario: Suicide?

Luigi: Looks like it...

Policeman: Well, he must've really wanted to keep quiet.

Just then, a lady comes into the living room, where Mario, Luigi, and the policeman are. The lady gasps loudly at the sight of Mark's body.

Mario: ... Who are you?

Lady: I'm... I'm Mark's girlfriend, Jessie... What happened to him?!

Luigi: Looks like suicide...

Jessie just stares at Mark's body with a scared look on her face.

Act 4: A Puzzle Appears...

The next day, Mario and Luigi are looking in Mark's car for evidence. They find nothing.

Mario: Doesn't look like any evidence.

Luigi: Hmm. Wait...

Mario: ... What is it?

Luigi: Remember the gun shells we found in front of the castle?

Mario: ... Yeah...

Luigi: And Peach said the driver's seat was facing the castle... Well, if he was right-handed, he would've had to put his arm in front of him, which puts the gun in the  position where the shells would've fallen into the car... Well, we didn't find anything in the car, so he had to have been left-handed.

Mario: You're right.

Luigi: And normally, whenever someone commits suicide, don't they shoot themselves in the head, and not the chest?

Mario: Yeah...

Luigi: Then... that means...

Fade out.

Act 5: The Puzzle Finally Put Together

Later the next day, Luigi, Mario, the policeman, Peach, and Jessie are all gathered in Mark's living room.

Luigi: Okay, you're all gathered here for one reason, and one reason only. Me and Mario are going to tell you what we've been through and what we've found out.

Mario: We've been doing some work, and now we've come up with the answer by connecting the dots... a lot of dots.

Luigi: To start off, we found Mark's fingerprints on the gun that was used to shoot Daisy. We found him and brought him to jail. We tried to ask questions, but he insisted that he was innocent. Then, a few days after we locked him up, we found out that he had sawed the bars off his cell and gone back to his house. Now, my question is, why would he head for his house, when he would have known that that was gonna be the first place we'd look?

Mario: Also, there's another thing... We found him on his couch, and with a gun in his right hand. The puzzle is, when he drove by to shoot Daisy, the driver's side was faced towards the castle. If he had been right-handed, we would've found gun shells in his car...but no, we found the shells on the ground. Meaning, he used his left hand.

Luigi: And to add to the excitement, we had Peach look closely at the gun we found in the dumpster, just to make sure it was the same gun. Peach looked at the gun, then noticed something: the gun used on Daisy had a brown handle; the gun we found, had a black handle.

Mario: Which means someone used their own gun, then, switched their gun with Mark's gun. The way I figured it happened, was that the person grabbed the gun barrel with a piece of cloth, so they could leave Mark's fingerprints on his gun...

Luigi: And the culprit is...

Luigi points to Jessie.

Jessie: What? Why would I try to kill Daisy?! And even kill my own boyfriend?!

Mario: (grinning) Who said he was dead?

Jessie: ... What...? Hold on, what's going on?!

Just then, Mark comes in with a huge bandage over his chest.

Jessie: Mark?! What-

Luigi: At first, we thought he was dead...but he wasn't. Now, Mark, am I right or wrong, by saying that Jessie shot you?

Mark: She did it, alright...

Jessie: But-

Luigi: You put the gun in Mark's hand after you shot him, making it look like suicide.

Mario: We also found this, hidden under the bed...

Mario holds a up a gun with a brown handle.

Mario: ... And it had your fingerprints on it.

Peach: That was the gun I saw.

Mario: Also, we decided to look at whose fingerprints were on the knife that was used to saw the bars off Mark's cell. And yours are on it also. You broke him out of jail, and then brought him home and killed him, just to keep him quiet.

Luigi: Why did you do it all?

Jessie: Well, Daisy... and I were friends once... We went to high school together... then, when we both turned 18, we entered a beauty contest. Before doing that, we had to say our farewells, however. It was a surprise to see her at the same contest... Then, after looking at 65 other ladies, the judges chose me as second place, and Daisy won, becoming the most beautiful lady in Sarasaland for the next seven years. I couldn't understand why... I was much richer than her... and I was a better model. But she still won. For the past four years, I've been living an angry life since Daisy took that opportunity from me. So, I just thought that I would teach her a lesson... I didn't mean to kill her, I really didn't. I just wanted her to know I was mad.

Policeman: Well, I've heard enough. C'mon with me, Jessie.

Jessie then unexpectedly turns around and swats the policeman in the chin with her elbow, knocking him down.

Jessie: You can't take me away! You never will!

Jessie runs to the back door and outside, behind the house. Luigi and Mario chase after her. It's dark and gloomy outside. Luigi and Mario get outside, but don't see Jessie anywhere. Luigi looks around on one side of the yard, while Mario look on the other side. Then, Jessie comes up behind Luigi with an axe in her hand, although Luigi doesn' t know it. Mario, however, is looking at Luigi direction, just as Jessie is about to slice Luigi in half.

Mario: Luigi!!!

Luigi looks behind him, just as Jessie swings the axe. Luigi ducks and the axe hits a tree. Mario then runs up and jumps on Jessie. After a struggle, Mario gets Jessie onto the ground. Mario pulls some handcuffs out of his pocket and handcuffs her. Mario and Luigi bring her back in the house. The policeman takes her arm.

Jessie: I'll never forget this, Mark... NEVER.

The policeman takes Jessie out the door.

Mark: Thanks, guys, for trusting me.

Luigi: You had a pretty good plan.

Mario: Yeah. Jessie sure didn't see all this coming.

Mark: Thanks again. You know we were a pretty good team!

Luigi: Yeah!

Later, Mario, Luigi have a celebration. Mark, Peach, E. Gadd, and Daisy are the ones there.

Gadd: Daisy was really lucky. I finally got the bullet out without a problem.

Luigi: You can say that again... She sure was lucky...

Gadd: It'll take awhile for her rib to heal. In the meantime, she'll be alright.

Mario comes up to Luigi and puts his hand on Luigi's shoulder.

Mario: And the culprit hadn't have been caught if it weren't for Sherlock Luigi!

Luigi walks over to Daisy, who is sitting on the couch.

Daisy: Thanks, Luigi, for finding the person who tried to kill me.

Luigi: No problem... It's just my job.

Daisy kisses Luigi on the cheek. Luigi and Daisy smile at each other as the celebration continues for another hour.
