Part One: The Beginning
After the battle against good and evil, Mario and the gang returned the Seven Stars to the Star Road. Smithy and all evil had left, for now. After so many adventures, Mario had finally come back from Rogueport. He went to his pad in the Mushroom Kingdom to rest and relax. But, somewhere, there was trouble.
Star Haven...
Eldstar: Well, Mario has done it again.
Mamar: I still can't believe he defeated the Shadow Queen.
Skolar: You should never doubt Mario.
Muskular: Mario seems to be getting stronger.
Misstar: No one has defeated Mario in a while.
Kalmar: What's wrong, Klevar? You've been quiet lately.
Klevar: It's strange how no one has even come to bother us in a while.
Eldstar: Yes. Everyone in Star Haven has been quiet.
Klevar: I'm going to take a walk.
Klevar leaves the Shrine.
Misstar: Well, I'm bored. Nothing has happened in a-
A scream can be heard from outside.
Skolar: Huh?
Klevar is thrown back into the Shrine.
Klevar: He... has... returned...
Mamar: Who?
???: Missed me?
Muskular: No!!! It... It... It can't be!
???: Gahhhhhh! I've come to take revenge!
Eldstar: No!!!
???: Now I'll take the Star Rod!
??? takes the Star Rod.
???: Hmmm. How do you use this thing?
??? tries to use it, but fails.
???: Wait! I have an idea! This Star Rod thing... What can it do?
Eldstar: Uhhh...
???: Tell me, you Star Sprits!
Eldstar: Ummm... Should I tell him, guys?
Mamar: Yes.
Eldstar: What?
Skolar: No! We are the Star Sprits! We are powerful ever since we got the Star Rod back.
???: I said tell me!
Eldstar: All right...
Mario's House...
Mario is relaxing (like I said before) at his pad.
Mario: (Gee, I really need to take a rest.)
Star Road...
Eldstar: ...And that's how you do it.
???: I shall now rule the world!
(??? takes the power of the Star Rod. Then, the Star Rod breaks into seven parts.)
???: Now that you don't need that any more, I shall be making sure that... Huh?
The seven parts fly off in different directions.
???: Oh well, I wasn't really expecting that. But now for a start, I will take over Star Haven! And you seven shall not stop me!
Klevar: Oh no! He's more powerful than before!
???: That's ten TIMES as powerful than I was before!
Well, it looks like that this mystery figure is more powerful then before. Will Mario be able to save Star Haven and retrieve the Seven parts of the Star Rod? And who is "???" supposed to be?

Toad goes into the house.
Toad: Toadsworth wanted me to tell you that Princess Peach wants to see you in Toad Town.

After going through a warp pipe, Mario and Toad go to the castle.

(A Goomba with strong wings and feet comes out of the new dojo that the Mushroom Kingdom built.)

Toad: Hey, Mario, he seems to be holding the- OH MY GOSH!
????: What's wrong? ... Hey! You're that Mario guy! I'm Goom. And I challenge you!
Toad: Oh no! I've heard of this guy. Can you beat this guy?
Mario: Yes.

Toad: Star Rod Pieces? They sound like the Seven Star Peices.
Peach: Mario, I guess you must go and find them. Eldstar really wants you to get... Hey, there's a note.

It's me, Eldstar. The Star Rod Pieces are more powerful and more important then the Star Pieces. You must go to the Starlight Kingdom to begin your journey.

Toad: Here, I'll give you something, Mario and Mallow.
*Toad gave the Starlight Pass to Mario and Mallow*
Toad: I found it when that guy vanished with Peach. So, good luck.

Mallow: I have no clue, but our adventure is now on.

Mario: Here we are!

Air Toad: Uh... Get on the plane, please.
Mario and Mellow get on the plane.

X-1: One of them was short and wore pants and was all white, and the other looked like a plumber and wore red and had blue overalls with a red cap that had the letter M.

The plane takes off. After three hours, Mario and Mallow finally arive at Starlight Town at night.

Mario and Mallow go over to the mayor, who is being attacked by four Paraspinies, three Paraclefts, and... Goom?
Goom: You again?
Mario: Goom!
Mallow: Goom?
Goom: Yes, Goom!
Mallow: I've seen a Cleft and a Spiny, but not Paras.
Goom: Neither have I. Oh well, ATTACK!
