Chapter Seven: The Third Key, Part One
Mario had rested in his house because of the injuries from his last battle with Mew Koopa. Why did that hybrid save me? he thought over and over. It is DEFINITELY not like a villain to do this. He took two Keys out of his pocket. The Water Key had many shades of blue with a sapphire to where the hole in the key was. The lower part, which is supposed to have many little shapes, was only a circle. It was the same with the Earth Key. Though it had the same lower part as its counterpart, the Earth Key was brown with a few leaves decorated around the rim and had an emerald where the keyhole was supposed to be. Mario now put together two facts: all the Elemental Keys had a circle for the lock opener anda jewel where the keyhole was.
"Hm... What's the secret to these keys...?" he said to himself. He couldn't figure it out.
E. Gadd, who Mario had come to see, had a prototype Lock of Thzaiko, the real Elemental Keys, and their fake counterparts.
"All right, Mario," the scientist said to the plumbe,r who was standing a few inches away from him, "let's try it out." Gadd placed the real Keys' circles to the slots, which were color-coordinated. They glowed on and off. Then he put the fake Keys to the slots. Nothing.
"So it seems that giving them fake Keys won't do the trick. They need magic to open them, and it's magic like I've never even heard of!" Gadd exclaimed, as the real Keys stopped glowing.
"Hmph, and Lash's 'friends' will just tell her that the Keys are fake before we get it to her. They always inform her that the Key was taken from them," Mario explained with a stern face. "If fake Keys won't work, what will?"
Gadd said to Mario, giving him a map, "This map has the pinpointed locations of the other Keys that you need. Don't let it fall into the wrong-"
"Don't say it!" Mario shouted. "If you do, you'll jinx it and it'll happen!"
"Oh."
He walked to the village and found the Pipe House, which had a few pipes going to where they need to go. He jumped into a red pipe and ended up in the Felis Village. The villagers were walking around and there were a few stands that had lots of jewelry and other things.
"Excuse me, ma'am," he said to a passing female Felis, "but what's going on here?"
"It's the Great Yukato Festival!" she said happily. "This is the festival where we celebrate the rainy season!"
"Oh." Mario ran towards the crater that was the giant center of the Felis Village. In it was a small hole and a sign. Mario skidded towards the sign, as it read:
"CAUTION! Lava lake below hole. Enter at risk. --Queen Kimali."
"Whatever you say," he sighed, as he jumped into the hole.
Mario landed in a hot pool of water near a VERY hot lava lake with Starman-shaped platforms made of steel floating on the lava. A sign was on the first platform pointing towards the next set of platforms, as the lava bubbled and brewed. Mario carefully jumped on each one, making sure not to tip over. He had wasted all of his power-ups on his last battle, and took out his Water Key. It pulsated faster every time he went farther towards the platforms.
I wish this lava could be dried up, he thought. Soon, the Water Key shot a burst of water covering a 20-yard radius. With widened eyes, Mario quickly ran across the dried lava and got on the other side of the lava lake. He found the Fire Key, covered in ash and soot, with a ruby in it. Suddenly, Rose Koopa came into view. She was in a bathing suit in a hot spring.
"Aaaaaah," she said in peace.
Mario immediately covered his eyes and shouted, "It blinds us! It blinds us!"
"So I need to burn a few calories, got a problem with that?" she said, annoyed. "Ugh. I need to enjoy this while I can, ya know. If you beat my three Fire Bros. in a game of Dance Dance Revolution, I'll give you the Key."
Mario sweatdropped, but agreed.
Three Fire Bros. came in, dragging in a plasma screen TV with a battery, two DDR dance pads, a GameCube, and a box for Dance Dance Revolution Mario Mix. The Fire Bros. connected everything and turned on the GameCube. After the set up and all, one of the Fire Bros. got on Dance Pad 2.
"Bring it!" said the Fire Bro in a ghetto accent.
Mario and the Fire Bro, known as Gary, danced in the Easy Level (of the song that's playing right now), and pressed all the arrows. Gary was perfect, as he had practiced with Rose many times. Mario, however, stunk worse than a ferret without a bath for two weeks. And that, my friend, REEKS. Left, right, up, up, left, down, right, and on and on... confusing, yes. Hard, maybe. Noob material, no way in the underworld. After the song was finished, the results were in.
"Mario," said the game announcer, "LOSER!" Mario snapped his fingers.
"Player GARY," said the game announcer, "PERFECT! NEW RECORD!" Gary started breakdancing.
"Oh yeah, baby! Who's yo daddy?! Who's yo daddy?! I am!" Gary shouted. The other Fire Bros, Jeremiah and Leslie, chuckled. Rose giggled like a schoolgirl.
"Look's like you got two left feet, plumber," she said to him. "Go back to fixing pipes."
"Ooh, dissed!" said Gary, Jeremiah, and Leslie all together. They all laughed.
"You win this time, Rose," Mario said,
offended by the acts of rudeness portrayed by the threesome. He left the
hot spring (somehow) and went back to the Yukato Festival. He needed to
find a way to beat the three Fire Bros. and get the key.
Chapter Eight: The Fire Key, Part 2
Mario looked gloomy as the Felis partied like it was 1999. Kids ran round with bouncy antennae (the foam orbs on the wire were furry); women chatted and gossiped; men drank and laughed, telling jokes and embarrassing stories; the elders looked at the younger Felis, and one of them laughed at a 17-year-old get dumped with glacier water and shivered for a few minutes after that. A teenage Felis with short blue hair and hazel eyes wearing a Mexican outfit (even the cute poncho) looked at Mario.
"What is wrong, human from the Land of Mushrooms?" she asked Mario, oddly sounding like a certain cartoon character.* "This is a time of celebration and joy! Not gloominess and sorrow. Please tell me what is wrong." She sat next to Mario.
(*Cartoon character=That would be Starfire's way of talking. Hope it rung a bell.)
"I lost to a Fire Bro. in a video game," Mario said, humiliated to the max.
"Was it the revolution of dancing with you in it?"
"Wha...?"
"How do you say... Dance Dance Revolution Mario Mix?"
"Yeah." He sighed.
"Oh. By a Fire Bro, correct?"
"Yes, already."
"... Fire Bros. are natural dancers," she said, sweatdropping. "But I can help you. I beat Fire Bros. when I don't have work."
"I can't dance, game or not."
"But... you can send me to wherever you need help. I go with you and defeat your foe!"
"Are you sure?"
"Positive."
"All right then. Follow me." Mario got up, and as the girl followed him to the hole, he stopped and asked, "What's your name, anyway? I'm Mario."
"Chica."
"... Original." Mario jumped in the hole and Chica followed.
Mario was sweating because the ash that dried on the lava had sunk and burned. Chica. however, despite all the clothes, did not perspire.
"I think we should not be here, Mario," Chica said, worried.
"This is the place where-" A Fire Bro, this one Leslie, jumped in front of the two.
"I should've known that you would come back for another can o' butt whoop!" she said, gloating about Mario's defeat.
"But Mario has me!" Chica said aloud, stepping up.
"GYAH! It's Chica the Legendary!" Leslie jumped across screaming, "SHE has arrived! SHE has arrived!"
As the two got to Rose, she was now on a beach chair (fully dressed, mind you), napping.
"What's this about HER? It's not like-" When she opened her eyes and saw Chica, all she said now was, "Oh, shark."
Gary walked in drinking a slurpee and saw Chica. He smirked. "So we finally meet da one an' only Chica. Let's dance." He threw the slurpee into the lava. It burned and sank, whichever came first.
How do you say... bring that on!"
"It's 'bring it on’, Chica," Mario said dully, slapping his forehead in embarrassment.
<<Koopa Bros>>
Chica suggested the hard level of the first song, so Gary chose that. They started dancing. It was so fast, it was practically a blur. It went on for 50.76 seconds, then the winners were announced.
"Player GARY, your time was 56.90." Gary smirked again. "Chica, your time was 34.21. NEW RECORD! The winner is Chica!"
Chica danced in victory, and Gary and the others surrounded her. Rose screamed, "ENOUGH! Let Mario have the Key. Wait... Chica won, so she gets the Key."
Gary, Jeremiah, Leslie, and Mario screeched all together, "WHAT?!"
"Rules are rules. Winner gets Key, loser gets jack."
Chica and Mario left. At the surface, Chica presented the Fire Key to Mario. "I do not need such a device. I know you need it more."
"Thank you, Chica." Mario left the Felis Village and slid down the mountainside.
Chapter Nine: The Fourth Key, Part 1
Mario had just arrived at the Grand Staircase after retrieving the Fire Key as a gift from his new ally, Chica, the Mexican Felis. He then noticed a small white picket fence, separating a grassy area from a dark red sandy/rocky area. Techincally, it was the physical border between the Mushroom Kingdom's and the Koopa Kingdom's lands. He simply went over the fence and pulled out one last power-up: a spare P-Wing. He equipped it and flew towards the place where the map pinpointed the last Key: in a kingdom in the sky. He flew towards the sky kingdom and broke through the wall of the castle. He crashed in front of the throne.
"What the...?" said Roy, who was sitting around, playing his Gameboy Advance SP for the first time in history. "INTRUDER! Mario has broken in!"
"Where's the Air Key?!" Mario screamed, pointing at Roy.
"What Key? I was not informed of any Key at all."
"... Dang you, Prof. E. Gadd!" He flew out of the castle through the newly made "window".
"... Wacko." He continued playing his SP.
As Mario flew into the sky, he pulled out his three Keys. They pulsated faster as he got near Mt. Majesty. He flew back to the village. He found it in ruins.
"What happened here?!" he said aloud. Chica was on the floor, scratches all over her. A Koopa spike was in her stomach, her eyes were completely blank, and she was drooling crimson blood.
"Chica, no..." he said, crouching down to pick her body up. "Who did this to you? Who did this to your village...?"
Chica's eyes started to regain their yellow pupils, and she said, "It... the attacker... looked like a... Pokémon..."
"Mew Koopa. I should've known," he scowled. He took out the spike and gave her a 1-Up Mushroom. Chica's eyes fully regained her pupils, and the wound in her stomach healed.
"I thank you for your kindness, Mario," she said, bowing, "and I wish to join you to stop this mutated Pokémon from taking over my peaceful third-world kingdom... if you can let me."
"Of course. After all, you helped me get the Fire Key." He nodded. "Where's your kingdom?"
"Up in the cloud a few miles above the village. Go around the crater..." Chica pointed towards a bridge made of rainbows, "...and go up our man-made Rainbow Road. I suggest you take a Goombule, made by the Koopaharian Taint before she turned evil." She then pointed at a few large, gray Goombas with mule ears, tail, and buck teeth. Two of them were fighting for the last carrot, so they also had the mule's temper by the looks of it.
"Oh, my God," he gasped. He just stared at the Goombule for a few seconds, and then said, "if I jump on to ride 'im, then wouldn't I kill them?"
"No. They're part mule, so they can't be killed that easily." She shook her head. She jumped on a Goombule and grabbed the reigns. Nothing happened. Mario did it, too. The Goombule bucked a bit. They rode off into the crater, past the hole, and onto the Rainbow Road, up and up and up... it went on for a few minutes or so, until they reached the Felis Castle Town and Castle. The town, however, was in pieces, and the castle had walls broken and roofs unshingled.
"Oh, no!" Chica said, crying and voice broken. "It's too late! I thought the guards had taken care of the mutated Pokémon!" She fell on her knees. "Go on, Mario. I will look for survivors."
"Fine." Mario ran towards the castle.
Chapter Ten: The Final Battle with Mew
Mario, enraged at the damage to the Castle Town, had been ganged up by soldiers hypnotized with hypnosis. Their eyes were blank, and their skin was pale. Mario fought them, punching, kicking, and throwing fireballs. He then ran to the gate and burned it down. There, Mew Koopa held the Air Key. Its handle looked like a cloud, and a moonstone was in the keyhole. It was light blue with puffs of white on it.
"Ah, yes, the final battle with yours truly," she said, petting the key gently, "but I'll make the battle last!" She threw the crown into the air and broke it with Psychic. She charged at Mario, but was caught by the head and thrown around Bowser style. Mew continously hit the walls and ceiling, and she countered by throwing objects at him. Mario had no time to block, so he was continously hit as well.
After hours of fighting, both fighters were tired. "*pant... pant*... This is *pant...* it. Now *pant...* I *pant* finish *pant, pant...* YOU!" she said with her last breath. Mew put her small paws in the air and formed a Shadow Ball. "Time to *pant* meet your *pant* DEMISE!" She threw it, but Mario dodged. It bounced and hit him. His back sizzled. He was dead.
"YES! I finally won!" Mew did a victory dance. She took her tail collar and spoke into it. "This is Mew, over. The pigeon has been shot, I repeat, the pigeon has been shot."
This was it, he thought when he looked around. I'm dead. There were coulds everywhere and souls wandered around: victims of Bowser's cruelty. In a spotlight, there was a pedastal with a small sword in it. He walked up to it and it read:
"Those who fight for the Justice of
Plit are destined to wield Mushra, Sword of Peace.
--Queen Ann Toadstool"
He looked at the sword, which had a bright red hilt and the insignia of the Mushroom Kingdom on a spot above the hilt in gold. He pulled it out, and it had a large curve in the blade, like an Arabian sword. A spirit appeared in front of Mario now. Well, two, to be exact. One looked like Peach, but with red hair and blue eyes, wearing the traditional Mushroom Kingdom royal dress (but white), and her crown was white as well. The other was a woman wearing a long, blue dress who had brown hair and blue eyes as well. Her nose was slightly bigger than that of the other woman.
"Hello, son," said the woman in the blue dress.
"Who are you both?" Mario asked them.
"I," the girl with the blue dress said, "am your mother, Mario."
Mario gaped at her and looked at the other woman. "Then you must be..."
"Yes, Mario." The other woman bowed. "I am Queen Annette Toadstool, mother of Princess Peach Toadstool."
Mario looked at them both, and said, "What are you both doing here?"
"You see, son," Mrs. Mario started, "I died because of a horrible disease, and so did your father."
"However," Ann stated, "I was murdered by Bowser himself in order to 'destroy the Mushroom Kingdom'. You were destined to come to Plit, Mario. You were destined to protect Peach."
Mario was dumbfounded and shocked. He cried a bit.
"Don't cry, sweetie," Mrs. Mario said to the hero. "Whenever you need to see me again, just remember: I'm always with you. And tell your brother I also said hello."
"And please tell Peach," Ann said to Mario now, "that she has a picklock somewhere on the side of her crown to get out of the cage she's in."
"How do you know that Peach was kidnapped?"
"Well, we see everything on Plit, since we're technically above it."
"Oh, and the cage Peach is locked in..."
"Yes?"
"It can't be picked. It needs magic."
"Oh, shoot." Ann snaped her fingers. "Well, here." Ann placed a gold barrier around Mario. "This should send you back to Plit with Mushra in your hand."
"Thank you, Queen Toadstool."
"Call me Ann."
Mario fell through the clouds and hit rock bottom, in his own body again.
Mario got up and felt the hilt of Mushra in his hand. The sword gleamed brightly. Mew, meanwhile, was shocked.
"LASH!!!" Mew shouted in her tail collar. "The pigeon is now a zombie, I repeat, the pigeon is now a BLOODY ZOMBIE!"
Mario charged towards Mew and slit Mew's throat. Nothing.
"FOOL!" Mew shouted. "Mushra can't cut flesh of any kind!"
Mario then got an idea. He wall jumped
to the ceiling and cut the entire ceiling open. It fell on Mew. The Air
Key fell in front of Mew. Mario jumped down and grabbed it.
Chapter Eleven: The Trio Is MAD! Mario vs. The Chaos Siblings
Mario ran out of the castle and towards Chica, who was treating some Felis survivors of the attack with herbs.
"Chica!" Mario shouted. "Chica! I got the final Key!"
"Excellent, Mario," she replied. "Now you need to face Lashamaru the Deviant. She has the Wooden Key, and Peach. Her lair is in the mountainside. Hurry now!" And so, Mario ran off, starting the final chapter of his adventure.
Mario slid down the mountainside to a cave behind him. He stepped in, finding the walls, floor and ceiling to be made of rock. He then saw a door, and stepped through. There, Peach was in a cage, locked up. All four Keys that Mario had emanated, and a glow was in the shadows, too. Lash stepped out.
"So..." Lash said, intrigued. "You finally got the four Keys and arrived here. I'm impressed. Now, then..." She looked to her left and right. Mew and Rose stepped out.
"We were waiting for this moment, since..." Rose started.
"...we were saving our powers. Our FULL potential will be unleashed..." Mew continued.
Lash topped it off. "...ON YOU!" Lash glowed red; Mew glowed blue; and Rose glowed green. Immediately, Rose's shell started to get rough, her horns got bigger, her nails got longer, her eyes got red veins in them, her spikes got sharper, and her teeth got bigger. She was... GIGA ROSE!
"That's just wrong," Mario mumbled, eyes wide open. Then Mew started her transformation... or should I say... evolution!
Mew evolved into a Mewtwo-like creature, but the fingers had claws and the spikes on the studded collars and bands got bigger, and her eyes were more vicious. She was Mewtwo Koopa!
"And that's just worse," he said in a slightly louder voice, his eyes open even wider now.
"Then you're gonna be surprised at mine!" Lash's claws turned red, and her frame got bigger. An exoskeleton frame grew over the top of her skin, and her fangs got bigger, like that of a saber-tooth. Her eyes were now slit, and her ears got bigger, her tail even longer, and her arms and legs like that of a gorrila. She was Thzaiko, in Beast form.
"Oh, my God..." he said in a normal voice, completely shocked. "You're not human!"
"No duh, Sherlock! We are..." Then they all said together, "The Choas Trio!"
Mario took out a Fire Flower and tried to scorch Mewtwo Koopa (we'll keep it at Mew), but she used Light Barrier. Rose then breathed blue fire and Mario got burned. Then he remembered Mushra. He pulled it out and cut off Mew's claws. They only grew back. After many hours of battling, they were all in a standoff. Mario was greatly bruised; the Trio were still standing. They turned back to normal. Mew and Rose stepped back, and Mario got up, still holding Mushra.
"Oh, you want a swordfight huh?" Lash asked him in a growl. "Let's dance!" She pulled out Koopus, a jagged-blade sword the size of Mushra. It could cut any kind of flesh alive or not. But when they clashed, they neutralized each other.
"How did you get Mushra?!" she said to Mario.
"In Star Haven!"
"Tell me the truth!"
"IN STAR HAVEN!" Mario slashed Lash's throat. It actually cut her throat, and she choked blood, then fell to the floor, half-dead. All five Keys floated to the lock and opened the door. Peach got out and hugged Mario tightly.
"Mario!" she said, crying. "You're all right! I was so... worried."
"It's okay, Peach," he replied. "Lash is gone. For good."
They left together back to the Castle.
The End... or is it?
Lash's slit throat healed immediately as Mew put a hand over her throat. Lash got up.
"I will have my revenge, Mario," she said. "I will be back."
