Level 7: Mountain Tower
Nick enters the tower. He is on Level 1. Shy Ranger talks to him trough the communicator.
Shy Ranger: I heard there is a teleport pad at the top of the tower.
Nick: (sarcastically) Great, at the top.
Nick walks forward and spots stairs. Nick climbs the stairs to Level 2. Nick stands in front of a pad with an M on the floor and a closed door.
Shy Ranger: This would be a good time to talk about your meters. In this game, you have a health and magic meter. You loose health when you take damage. If your health meter runs out, it’s Game Over. Your magic meter shows how much magic you have. There are two magic attacks you can do, and each Koopaling has different ones.
MAGIC STRIKE: Can hit one enemy with more a powerful set of attacks than a physical strike.
MAGIC WAVE: Uses more magic and can only be done on M Pads. Attacks all enemies in the room.
ELEMENT: Each Koopaling has an element of magic. Depending on the enemy, you can do more or no damage. Each element is critical, or does a lot more damage, to another element and does not damage enemies of the same element.
Shy Ranger: Here are your Magic Stats.
Your MAGIC STRIKE: DARK SWORD-Attack repeatedly with a black sword.
Your MAGIC WAVE: DARKNESS-Makes the entire room completely dark.
ELEMENT: DARK
CRITICAL TO: LIGHT
Nick: Got it.
Nick stands on the M Pad.
Nick: DARKNESS!
The room fills with darkness and the closed door opens. Nick goes through the door, up the stairs, and into Level 3, a room with a white block.
Shy Ranger: Some blocks, like this, can only be destroyed by a MAGIC STRIKE.
Nick: Okay. DARK SWORD!
Nick hits the block repeatedly with a black sword. The block vanishes, revealing a ladder. Nick climbs up the stairs to Level 4. Nick stands in front of hearts, jars, and coins.
Shy Ranger: If you haven’t noticed, this tower is a tutorial. Hearts heal a small portion of your health meter. Jars do the same for your magic meter. Collect coins on the ground, in chests, and by defeating enemies. Collect coins to buy items.
Nick collects all the items, and then goes up the stairs to Level 5. There is a bottomless pit, and a pair of wings.
Shy Ranger: Remember, if it look dangerous, it is. If you fall into lava or a bottomless pit, you will re-emerge, taking damage. Those wings are Paratroopa Wings, or P Wings. Touch them, and you will fly until you get hit, or land.
Nick uses the P Wings to fly over the pit, then goes up the stairs to Level 6, where there are Thwomps, Podoboos, moving spikes, spikes on the ground, and a Star.
Shy Ranger: Traps such as these cannot be destroyed, but can be avoided. The Star makes you unable to get hurt, or fall.
Nick uses the Star to get through the room, andgoes up the stairs to Level 7, where there is a Thwomp.
Shy Ranger: Think strategically in rooms like this. Sometimes, engaging traps can help.
Nick stands below the Thwomp, then gets out of the way. The Thwomp falls and makes the wall behind him collapse. Nick goes up the stairs to Level 8, where there is a Fire Flower, Mushroom, vegetables, and pots.
Shy Ranger: Okay, some items, like the Fire Flower, can be engaged by attacking them. This causes them to help you in some way. Other items, like the Mushroom and vegetables, can be thrown. Breaking pots can reveal items, like hearts, jars, and coins.
Nick: Wow, there’s a lot to remember.
Nick attacks the Fire Flower, causing it to burn the wall behind it. Nick climbs the stairs to Level 9, with a treasure chest, a big treasure chest, and a big, red, locked door.
Shy Ranger: All right, almost done. Tall tower, huh? Some castle and fortresses have Boss Keys hidden inside treasure chests. You need this to open the big, red doors, known as Boss Doors. These lead to the boss. Also, Boss Keys open big treasure chests. These have valuable items. Also, remember when fighting enemies and bosses, you can use your weapons instead of physical attacks. I wouldn’t recommend it for this boss, but for the next fortress.
Nick opens the treasure chests.
“You got the Boss Key.”
Nick opens the big treasure chest, revealing a net.
“You got the Item Net. Use this to collect items, like P Wings, and use them later.”
Nick opens the Boss Door, and goes up the stairs to Level 10. Nick stands in front of a big Wiggler.
Shy Ranger: This is your first Boss Battle. I will help you. Find the glowing section of his body, and use your MAGIC STRIKE.
Boss: Giant Wiggler
Nick notices the glowing section in the back.
Nick: DARK SWORD!
Nick attacks the glowing section repeatedly. Wiggler turns red and goes on a rampage. Nick avoids him and attacks again with DARK SWORD. Wiggler then vanishes. A big treasure chest appears. Nick opens the chest and finds a scroll.
“You got the Tutorial Scroll. This has everything from the tutorial. Now, you can show this to the other Koopalings so you don’t have to come here again.”
Nick: Wow! That is useful.
Stairs appear and Nick climbs them to the roof and see a pad with a T.
Shy Ranger: This is a Teleport, or T, Pad. It will send you on a one-way trip somewhere.
Nick stands on the T Pad and disappears.
Level 8: Boom Boom’s Fortress
Nick reappears on the Koopa Mountain Summit.
Shy Ranger: You are about to enter a Boss Level, where the whole level is a Boss Battle. Sometimes, though, the boss will leave and take a break in the action.
Nick enters the fortress and faces Boom Boom.
Boom Boom: You DARE enter my fortress? What makes you thinks you can just PASS through here?
Nick: I heard there is a Teleport Pad in this fortress.
Boom Boom: There is, but you can’t use it.
Nick gets out his Dark Sword weapon.
Nick: Then I guess I’ll have to fight you.
Boom Boom: FINE BY ME!
Boss 1: Boom Boom
Boom Boom starts punching, but Nick hides in his Dark Shell. Nick starts hitting Boom Boom with his Dark Sword. Boom Boom then jumps up through the ceiling. Nick goes up the stairs. Boom Boom appears with a Spiked Shell. Nick avoids the spikes and jumps on him three times. Boom Boom jumps up to the next floor. Nick goes up the stairs, and sees Boom Boom with wings.
Boss 2: Flying Boom Boom
Nick grabs the nearby P Wings. Nick and Boom Boom start fighting in the air, until they both take enough damage. They both fall to the ground. Boom Boom jumps up another level. Before moving on, Nick grabs hearts, refilling his health, and then goes up the stairs. Boom Boom now has wings and a sword. Nick waits for Boom Boom to swoop, avoids the sword, and jumps on Boom Boom three times. Boom Boom falls to the ground.
Boom Boom: I still have one more tactic.
Boom Boom enters the closest room. Nick follows him into a room with two Thwomps. Boom Boom has plated armor, a helmet, and spiked gloves.
Boom Boom: TIME TO END THIS!
Boss 3: Armor Boom Boom
Nick tries punching, sword slashing, and using magic to destroy the armor, but can’t. Nick then calls Shy Ranger.
Shy Ranger: What’s wrong?
Nick: How do you destroy armor?
Shy Ranger: Well, the best way to destroy armor is to hire a Thwomp.
Nick: Hire a- THAT’S IT!
Nick pushes Boom Boom under one of the Thwomps. The Thwomp pounds it, but nothing happens.
Boom Boom: HA HA HA- WAIT! WHAT’S HAPPENING?
Boom Boom’s armor cracks and breaks. Nick starts punching Boom Boom. Boom Boom then vanishes. A T Pad appears. Nick stands on the T Pad and disappears.
Level 9: Badlands Temple
Nick reappears in the clouds in front of a white temple. Four Whirlwinds appear.
Whirlwind 1: By order of The Evil Three-
Whirlwind 2: You may not enter the temple.
Nick: Well I’m going to.
Whirlwind 3: Then we have no choice-
Whirlwind 4: But to defeat you.
The Whirlwind swoop at Nick. Nick jumps, and the Whirlwind hit each other and disappear. Nick enters the Badlands Temple. Shy Ranger calls Nick.
Shy Ranger: It seems The Evil Three have taken over the temple. I also got a message from Blackitu that The Evil Three have taken over Grass Land. Nick, you must quickly rescue the Koopa, get the Dark Stone, and move on.
Nick: I will.
Nick approaches the first room, where fireballs are shot at him. Nick runs forward, avoiding the fireballs, and notices a Cannon Mole, Monty Mole in a cannon. The Mole throws Bob-ombs at Nick, but Nick throws them back. After three hits, the Mole begs for mercy.
Cannon Mole: Please, don’t hurt me. If you don’t, I’ll help you.
Nick: All right.
The Mole hops out of his cannon.
Cannon Mole: This cannon is also a warp pipe.
Nick hops into the cannon, and is warped.
Cannon Mole: I sure hope Boss Dopple can defeat him.
Nick enters a graveyard-like room, and opens a treasure chest.
“You got the Boss Key.”
Shy Ranger: I forgot to tell you something. You can always find a Boss Key in the last level of each world, but not always in a big treasure chest.
Nick continues through the room. He stands in front of a pit of spikes, notices a P Wing, flies over the pit, and stands on an M Pad.
Nick: DARKNESS!
Darkness fills the room, revealing a Star, and many Boos. Nick grabs the Star. All of the Boos charge at Nick, but since he has a Star, they all get defeated. A wall disappears, and Nick continues. Nick runs to a dead end. A Thwomp appears, but Nick gets out of the way. The Thwomp pounds the ground and breaks the wall, revealing a warp pipe. Nick goes through the pipe, and enters a room with four Big Boos.
Shy Ranger: Big Boos can only be defeated by light. Be on the lookout for switches.
Nick finds a switch, hits it, and light appears and the Big Boos vanish. A Shadow and Dopple appear.
Shy Ranger: Shadows and Dopples can be defeated by sending their magic back at them, but remember that a Dopple is a LIGHT enemy, and your element is DARK.
Nick: DARK SWORD.
Nick uses his DARK SWORD attack on Dopple. Then, using his Dark Sword weapon, he sends Shadow’s Shadow Ball back at him. They both disappear, and a warp pipe appears. Nick goes down the pipe and faces a giant Dopple.
Boss Dopple: I am Boss Dopple, leader of Shadows and Dopple and master of this temple. If you have any idea of saving Larry Koopa, you are wrong. As minion of The Evil Three, I will enjoy defeating you.
Boss: Boss Dopple
Nick: You know, your nickname should be BD. Not “Boss Dopple”, but “Better Dead”.
Boss Dopple, BD, stretches his arms at Nick. Nick tries physical attacks, but nothing work.
Nick: WAIT! It’s a LIGHT enemy. DARK SWORD.
Nick uses his DARK SWORD, which really hurts BD. BD then disappears, and Dopples appear. Nick defeats them, grabs the jars, refills his magic, and BD appears. Nick repeats this process two more times. BD becomes tired and a M Pad appears, and Nick stands on it.
Nick: Time to end this. DARKNESS!
Boss Dopple: NOOOOOOOO!
Darkness fills the room. BD turns black, then vanishes.
A T Pad appears. Nick stands on it, and is teleported to the room where Larry Koopa, the Dark Stone, and a small warp pipe are in a cage. Nick breaks the cage with his Dark Sword weapon.
Larry: Thank you for freeing me. Now then, WHAT’S GOING ON?!
Nick’s communicator rings.
Nick: Hello?
Ludwig: Nick.
Larry: LUDWIG, I SHOULD FEED YOU TO MY PLANT!
Nick: Larry, I’ll handle this.
Nick hands Larry the Tutorial Scroll.
Nick: Read this.
Ludwig: Now then, it seems someone has put a virus in my game.
Nick: Why didn’t you do a virus check?
Ludwig: Well… uh… I didn’t think… anything would go wrong.
Nick: Oh great, now we are stuck here.
Ludwig: Don’t worry, I found out that the virus maker is in Evil Castle, so we must beat the game to get out of here.
Nick: Okay, what do we do next?
Ludwig: Well first of all, yell WARP STONE.
Larry: WARP STONE!
Nick falls into the small pipe.
Ludwig: That small pipe is called the Warp Stone. There can only be one Koopaling playing at a time, until we get to Nine Pipes Island. Use the stone to switch. Also, use it to warp you to Grass Land, where the Grass Stone and Morton are held.
Larry: Nick deserves a break. I’ll save Grass Land. Now then, WARP STONE, WARP ME TO GRASS LAND!
Larry disappears with two stones and the communicator.
The scene switches to the Evil Castle prison cells.
Bowser: Great, we are stuck here.
Clawdia: What will we do now?
Grodus enters the cell.
Grodus: Now, we can set you and your kids free, if you sign your kingdom to The Evil Three.
Bowser: NEVER!
Clawdia: Bowser, think about the kids.
Bowser: Well…
Cackletta appears.
Cackletta: Grodus, a Dopple has told me that Larry has escaped and is heading to Grass Land.
Grodus: What?
Cackletta: That’s right. We must make Bowser sign over to us quickly.
Grodus: No!
Cackletta: What?!
Grodus: Instead, have the minions increase their guard in Grass Land.
Cackletta: Good idea.
Grodus and Cackletta leave.
Bowser: Perfect! Now we can wait until the Kooplings are all saved.
Clawdia: Good plan.
Meanwhile, in the throne room...
Grodus: (talking on the intercom) Attention all minions, please go and increase guard in Grass Land.
Cackletta: Don’t be so sure of yourself, Larry. We will stop you, no matter what.
