Prologue: Legend of the Time Circuit
There was once a great track. It had portals that went through many periods of Earth and Plitian time, such as the Great War, the Stone Age, the Medieval Times, and more. This track, however, disappeared like Atlantis: it was never found. Only a piece of a portal was found where the whole kaboodle started. Kolorado discovered this after being led by a few Mushroomers who thought it was the real deal.
Kolorado looked at it carefully with a magnifying glass at all angles. It had line marks made of a goldish-metal material. "This is... WONDERFUL! NEVER have I seen something so... mythical." The Mushroomers went back, and the Koopa Troopas started digging near the site. They found part of a track. They kept digging, and found another part of a track. It was a miracle!
Descendants of out heroes and villains of Plit, long ago, raced on this track, using specially designed cars, going to many eras and decades, millennia, and even eons. They say only a few racers will race in the Space Track, just a few years after the Big Bang, according to science. Many space-like obstacles stand in the way of the finish and the ultimate prize: the representative for the next dominant species. Don't get it? Here's an example: if Toad wins, the Mushroom race becomes top notch. No wonder the Koopas are the "superior species"...
As the Koopa Troopas dug further and further, they found more of the track, finding ancient cars and the starting line, as well as the rest of the portal. The stretch of the modern-age Plit track, alone, must have been at least 25 miles long, so Kolorado called for heavy artillery diggers.
Racing through the Medieval times means going past dragons, sea monsters, and other mythical creatures. The Stone Age provides dinosaurs, and a glimpse of what REALLY killed the dinosaurs. The time of the Egyptians meant facing against the gods' wrath, too.
(*Dust devils: Small tornados that lastonly a few seconds, dis- and re-appearing, on and off constantly.)
The time of the Civil War provided much needed dodging of bullets, cannonballs, and flying Confederates. The time of the war between the Indians and Cowboys... again, bullets, but arrows, too. And tomahawks. These and many other courses reveal the racer that uses speed, agility, stamina, and brains correctly. We know that won't be Bowser. ^^U
Lash now had a small TV, a bed, and a table in her house, which was stone on the inside and had a door leading to her HQ. She was watching the Mushroom TV News, Channel 3. Yes, Mt. Majesty gets both Koopa and Mushroom channels.
"This just in: Kolorado, the archeologist who was recently looking in Dry, Dry Desert, has discovered a hidden track and part of what seems to be..." The reporter looked at his paper, then at the camera. "...part of a racing time portal."
She turned off the TV.
"I'm sure I'd get quite a treat for retrieving such a purrrrrrrr-fect treasure," she said, intrigued. In a thought bubble was fried tuna with a side of carrots and sour cream. "Mmm..."
The prize of this legendary Time Circuit is said to ultimate power of unknown... stuff. It mostly involves altering time, which, by the way, comes in handy for a villain. The losers are eliminated from the race and never remember even racing, due to fear that they would spill the location of the Time Circuit. In order to even participate, they must have raced in the Preliminary Race Tracks, taking place in four elemental areas: in the lava lake of Mt. Majesty; around the floating shipwreck of the Mushroom Sea; into the abandoned mine in Dark Land; and around the Felis Village and Kingdom. Four jewels are given to the winner to open the gates and race in the Track itself.
"I have always wanted to race in such kinds of circuits. Perhaps I can participate," she said to herself. "Just because I'm a villainess doesn't mean I can't have some clean fun..." She walked into her HQ and looked at the scrolls taped up on the wall. One of them had a picture and full diagram of the exact same Time Portal, in all its glory. She studied it carefully, and went to her Mechanics Room. She grabbed an engine and some other car stuff, and started building...
Chapter One: Ludwig's New Kart
Bowser was in his castle once more, building a model ship. He had taken some counseling after Clawdia said all the outbursts and tantrums could affect his health. So far, he was in a good mood. Yes, out of character, but hey. It's my Fun Fiction, and it's original.
The Koopalings avoided Bowser's model ship at all costs, since that was the only thing keeping Bowser under control, especially Roy, who had a horrible temptation to destroy the ship. One side said yes, the other said no. Roy was in quite a pickle. But let's go elsewhere while Bully resolves his problem.
In the lab of Ludwig von Koopa, he had been working on a device that discombobulated the atoms of anything and anyone, and fused it with something or someone else. If I succeed, Ludwig thought, I can fuse that blasted plumber Mario with a tree trunk, and no one will stop King Dad from taking the Mushroom Kingdom. And perhaps I can make Karma into a full Koopa by defusing her Yoshi DNA from her Koopa DNA. Risky, but it might get rid of her.
As he was giving it the finishing touches and tested it on an apple with a fly in the same jar, they fused. So far, it didn't blow up in his face. He kept it in maximum security, fearing that the others might screw it up. He then went to his already finished project: a Koopa Kart, equipped with rockets, rocket launchers, grappling hook, and other useful devices. It had the insignia of the Koopa Klan on the front and a number seven on the sides. After all, he was the seventh Koopaling in the family. It had a driver's seat, with controls only he can operate, and a passenger's seat in the back to handle the weapons. The controls on the passenger side, however, were much simpler to understand.
"I should take this for a test drive," he said to himself, proud. But he needed a passenger to test the weapons, so he asked Larry first. He said he was busy with the gardening, since new species of plants were growing, and he needed to study them.
Morton said he needed to practice his speech; Wendy had to fix her makeup (for about the millionth time); Iggy said he was carving potatoes so he could enter a Potato Scupture Contest; Lemmy said he was checking updates for his websites; Roy was... well, he was in the throne room, so Ludwig didn't bother; and then... there was Susan. Yes, he was desperate, but there was no one else.
"Sorry, busy," she said to Ludwig. Susan was packing spy stuff for DAD-knows-what. He went to Karma, his only hope.
Karma said, shrugging, "Eh, sure. Got
nothin' else t'do, anyways." She followed Ludwig to the Garage, which had
the Koopa Kart in it. Karma hopped in the back, and Ludwig in the front.
Why did he make this kart, you ask? He also saw the report about the Time
Portal and Time Circuit discovery, so he drove off into the Dry, Dry Desert.
Chapter Two: Gathering of the Racers, Part 1
With Bowser and Bowser Jr. in the Throne Room...
"See, Son?" he said to Bowser Jr, who was staring at the model Battleship, almost as big as hig leg. And that's big. "If you put all your time and hard work on something, you can get it accomplished!" He smiled at him, then said, "But the ironic thing is that I do all that junk with Mario, and it never works!"
"Maybe you put too much stress on yourself," he said. Bowser Jr. was much bigger, sort of like a teenager. But not because of natural growth, oh no. See, this is what happened...
***
Bowser Jr. was standing in a pod for an aging machine made by Ludwig. The idea was to age Mario and Luigi so much that they would be wrinkly prunes and couldn't fight. Bowser kidnaps Peach, takes the Mushroom Kingdom, and he wins.
"Pull the lever, Ludwig!" he said.
"Does this look like The Emperor's New Groove to you?!" he screamed, pulling the wrong lever.
ZAAAAAAAAAAP! BOOOOOOOOOM! Bowser Jr. now looked like a TV. It turned on and showed Bowser Jr's face. What did he reply? You guessed it:
'Wrong lever, Ludwig!"
"Yeesh, sorry." He pulled the right lever, and turned into a teen, not an old guy. Bowser Jr. looked at himself: he had longer hair, his shell was much of a darker green, and his spikes on the collars, wrist and ankle bands, and shell had grown to be a little sharper. If only his brain had that effect, too... Okay, sorry for the bad pun.
"Hey," he said, smiling, "not only did it work, but I like this body!" He gave him a thumbs up. Ludwig sighed.
***
"You might be right, Son..." Bowser thought about it... then Larry ran up to Bowser.
"King Dad! King Dad!" he cried. "Have you seen Ludwig?!"
"Nope," they both said, shaking their heads.
"I heard they were going to Dry, Dry Desert to race!"
"They? What do you mean by they?!"
"Um..." he trembled. "Ludwig and K-K-Karma..." He swallowed his pride and ran off.
"WHAT?!" The ship fell off, but Bowser Jr. caught it. He sighed and placed it back.
"What a tramp!" Bowser Jr. whispered. Again, sorry for the Disney pun... Now, then...
Both ran off into the Koopa Garage and the Koopa King turned on the light. There was the same kart, the Koopa King, from Double series, but he now had an ATV-Monster truck hybrid. Bowser handed his teenage son the keys. "You deserve it."
Bowser Jr. nodded and jumped into the driver's seat, and Bowser into the back. He turned on the ignition and drove off to Dry, Dry Desert.
With Mario and Peach...
Mario was at Peach's Castle, and both were in the TV room watching a movie. Then, the news came on, explaining the Time Circuit. Then this happened...
"This just in!" said Joe the reporter. "It seems that two reckless drivers are racing in part of the Time Circuit, clashing against each other!"
"That's my cue, Peach."
He ran off, when Peach followed. "Wait!" she cried.
"Yes?"
"Let me go with you. I want to relive my Double Dash Grand Prix days again! At least let me be in the back!"
"Okay, then, Peach!" He pulled out a key from a key ring with a plastic Mushroom as the decoration. They went to the Courtyard and saw the Red Fire, a DD Kart for those who played the game. Mario hopped in, and Peach as well.
