Prologue: The Reconstruction of Smithy
"Where am I?" asked a deep voice.
A single light shone in the center of a dark room, the only thing lit by it being a large, round table. On this table lay a metal creature with a white beard wearing a crown. Its hands were large and it had no feet. This was Smithy. He was a robotic tyrant from another dimension who tried to takeover the Mushroom Kingdom. He had been destroyed by Mario, Princess Peach, Bowser, Mallow, and Geno.
"This is strange," said Smithy, sitting up and getting off of the table. "The last thing I remember is those foolish Plitians attacking me."
"Ah, so you're finally awake," said a voice from behind Smithy.
Smithy turned around and saw a figure wearing purple armor. The being had glowing, green lines all over his armor. There were also two visors on the helmet, one underneath the other.
"Who are you?" asked Smithy.
"You may call me Obsession," replied
the figure. "I am the one who rebuilt you. And now, we have much to discuss."
Chapter 1: Panic in the Sky
"How long is this going to take?" asked Popple.
"Not much longer, sir," replied a Mouser who was wearing a dark blue mask.
Popple and his newest Rookie, a Mouser, had just stolen a gray blimp and were flying over the Mushroom Kingdom. The Mouser was driving the blimp while Popple was standing at a table with some sort of map on it behind the Mouser.
"We should have been at Star Haven a while ago, see!" said Popple, looking down at the map. "We have to get that Star Rod thing I've heard about!"
"Well," said the Mouser, "maybe if you gave me that map instead of hogging it for yourself, we could have been there by now!"
Popple was just about to reply when a sound went through the air.
"SKREEEEEEEEEEE!"
"What was that?" asked Popple.
Suddenly, the top of the blimp above the duo ripped open and there, flying above the blimp, was a gigantic pterodactyl.
"SKREEEEEEEEEE!" screamed the pterodactyl.
"A pterodactyl?" questioned the Mouser. "But how...?"
Suddenly, the pterodactyl swooped down at the Mouser and ate him. It then flew back into the air above the blimp and spit the Mouser into the sky.
"Hey!" said Popple. "That was MY Rookie!"
The pterodactyl stared at Popple before swooping down at him.
"YIKES!" shouted Popple.
The shadow thief then rolled out of the way before the pterodactyl got to him. Popple quickly got back up and ran to a white bag in a corner.
"Take this, ya lousy bird!" shouted Popple.
Popple pulled a Bob-omb out of the bag and threw it at the pterodactyl. The Bob-omb exploded in its face.
"SKREEEEEEEEEE!" screamed the pterodactyl once more.
The pterodactyl then tumbled around for a little bit before crashing onto the blimp's controls. Witi its roof been ripped off, the controls smashed, and no driver, the blimp started a nosedive.
"Well, this stinks!" shouted Popple.
The pterodactyl finally came back to its senses and flew through the hole in the roof again. The blimp then crashed somewhere in the Mushroom Kingdom and blew up in a fiery explosion.
"SKREEEEEEEEEEE!" screamed the pterodactyl yet again.
To some, it would have looked like the pterodactyl was laughing triumphantly. It then flew off, not noticing that Popple was holding onto its tail while carrying his white bag.
"No one gets rid of Popple, the great shadow thief, that easily," mumbled Popple.
Elsewhere, on the surface of the Mushroom Kingdom, Mario and Luigi, the famed superstars, were outside of their house, staring at the night sky.
"Doesn't it look awesome out here at nightime, Luigi?" Mario asked his brother.
"Sure does," replied Luigi, noticing something in the sky heading downwards. "Hey, what's that?"
Mario squinted at the object in the sky.
"It looks like a shooting star," he said, "but something doesn't seem right about it."
"Maybe we should check it out?" asked Luigi.
"Good idea," replied Mario.
The Mario Brothers then ran through the forest that surrounded their house, heading to the place where the object would have landed, and saw a large crater. And in that crater was...
"TWINK!" shouted both Mario and Luigi at the same time.
