Mario's Party Peril

Chapter Six: The Strike of the Scope

About an hour passed and Roy had gotten ready to leave. Toadee put out a map on the table.

"Now for the next part of the plan."

"What?!" Larry said. "I thought Roy attacking the blimp was the whole plan. Don't tell us we have to get in those rotten balloons too."

"Nope," Clyde said. He looked at the other Toads, and they nodded at him to give the plan. "Okay, so we're going to take Bowser's Koopa Clown Copter to the parade and disguise it as a Yoshi float. Once we see the Mario Gang, we blast them with Super Scopes!"

"Finally, a real sentence," Wendy said.

"Riiight," Clyde replied. Wendy rolled her eyes.

"Um," Bowser said, "I'm not quite sure how many people my Koopa Clown Copter is built to h-"

"OH MY DAD, THAT'S HOT!"

Bowser looked down at the lava pool and saw the Toadalings. They were screaming for help (with no success, obviously) and were about ten feet above the lava.

"C'mon, King Dad! Help us!" Iggy cried.

"HA!" Bowser laughed. "Calling me 'King Dad' and mocking Iggy's ridiculous girly voice won't fool me! Say goodbye, fungus brains!"

"Well, Iggy, it's been nice... um... crushing Mario with you."

"Whattya mean? We were always at least two worlds apart!" Iggy looked down at the lava, then noticed something happening to his feet. They had resorted back to their original, orange state. "Wait a minute, Lemmy! The paint is melting off!" He turned to Lemmy, whose head and the top half of his body were back to their normal color.

"Mmm, uh, I dunno, Bro. This stuff is awfully good-tasting for paint." Lemmy continued licking the food coloring on the back of his shell.

"That's it!" Iggy cried. He started licking his entire head, as the bottom half of his body melted to normal. By the time he finished, Lemmy's body was back to normal, too. "Oh, King Daaaaaaad!"

"For the last time, I am not falling for thaaaAAAAAAIIIGGGHHHH!" Bowser saw his kids in the lava and immediately started pulling the rope back up. "Phew!" the Koopa King said. "Well, I guess there's a good and bad side to this."

"Really?"

"Yes. The good side? I saved my two kids from death. Which... would've been caused by me in the first place. The bad side? Now I have two more people to cram into my Koopa Clown Copter!" The Koopalings sighed.

Peach, who thought she had taken care of the "meddlesome" Toads, had finally boarded the blimp, and they took off. About a half hour into the trip, they saw the island. "Wow," Mario said. "I think I can already see some of the floats!"

"And... There's a hot-air balloon to welcome us!" Luigi pointed at a filthy balloon, with many patches.

"W-w-w-w-w-welcome balloon...?!" Peach thought for a moment. She hadn't planned that.

"Hmm..." Daisy said. "That creature doesn't look like a Yoshi at all."

"I'll use my Gaddscope to get a better look." The professor took out a telescope and saw that Roy was in it. Gadd didn’t recognize him until the Gaddscope analyzed him.

NAME: Koopa, Roy
AGE: 10 yrs.
SPECIES: Koopaling; Spiny
PARENTS: King Bowser Koopa

"Ooh... uh... Mario?" the professor whispered to Mario.

"Dang it! Why now?!" Mario whispered to the princess.

"EAAAARRRRGGGHHHH!" Peach screamed. "TOADS! You still know that emergency defensive maneuver?"

"You mean number 8.5?" one of the Toads asked.

"Yeah. You need to use it on that balloon over there." She pointed to Roy's hot-air balloon. The Toads nodded, and stood on each other's heads. The second to highest Toad grabbed the feet of the one on top of him, and with careful precision, threw him towards the balloon. From a pocket in the back of his vest, the Toad pulled out a Bob-omb and wound it up. He landed on top of the balloon, ripped off the patch, quickly threw the Bob-omb back in, put the patch back on, and jumped off. He then fell on top of a Jugem's Cloud and slowly floated back to the balloon.

"Mission accomplished," he exclaimed. The crowd on the blimp (except piloting DK and Diddy, who had to keep their eyes on the sky) watched the balloon, waiting for the big kaboom.

"Hmm," Roy said curiously. He noticed that Mario, along with everybody else on the blimp he was supposed to shoot down, was staring at him. "I think I’d better phone King Dad." Roy picked up his walkie-talkie and pressed a button that read "King Dad".

"Yes?" Bowser answered. He sounded like he was quite angry, and he was. The Toads were suiting him up in a pink Yoshi costume (the only one that was left at the costume shop) for the parade. "This better be good, Roy... 'cause my mood's NOT!" When Bowser said this, it seemed more directed to Clyde, who was putting the head of the costume on him, than Roy.

"Done!" Clyde exclaimed. He finished scribbling black pupils on the eyes of Bowser's costume, and he was immediately swiped off by Bowser. He landed near Toady and Toadie. Simultaneously, Morton landed after Wendy had caber-tossed him (for being a "whiny doofus-face").

"Oh, hey guys," Toadie said. She was reading a newspaper with Toady. "This Mushroom Daily says that some foreign creature has been detected in the Mushroom Kingdom, and it's a supernatural being. I can't believe this nonsense made it in the paper."

"Yeah, and it's not even a tabloid," Toady said.

Clyde and Morton looked at the paper, wide-eyed. "Wow wow wow," said Morton. "I can't believe this! Are they sure it's a foreign thing and not some normal undead thing like a Boo? Speaking of which, why do they call it 'undead'? Just because they're a ghosty doesn't mean they're not dead, like 'undead' would literally mean NOT dead, ri-"

Bowser then ran up to the four in his Yoshi costume. "Hey Toads! I think something happened to Roy!"

"What are you saying, Pinky?!" Toady demanded.

"Well, I was talking to Roy over the walkie-talkie, and then I just heard an explosion and static... and that was it!"

"Help!" Clyde exclaimed. The Toads gathered the group to discuss Roy's presumable fall.
