Chapter One: A Meeting

As you remember, in Part One, Castle Koopa in Dark Land was destroyed, and Bowser started to build a new castle elsewhere. Now the work is almost done, and Bowser and the Koopalings just moved in to oversee the final touches, including the ceiling.

“The dungeon’s almost done, King Dad,” Larry reported.

“The ramparts will soon be adequately completed, Monarch Father,” Ludwig said as he entered the room.

“Ludwig says the wall’s almost done,” Lemmy said, entering the room right behind Ludwig, “And the castle defenses are too. Speaking of which, why did that Exar guy attack us? I can understand taking over the world, but he seemed to have a personal grudge against you.”

Bowser sighed, “I knew you would be asking that soon.  Bring it up at the next family meeting, and I’ll tell you the story.  Tell everyone else too, so they’ll know what I’m talking about.”

That night at the family meeting, all the kids had heard and were sharing their opinions of the reasons of the attack. Lemmy, Wendy and, Morton thought Exar used to be Bowser’s second-in-command.  Ludwig and Iggy thought Bowser defeated Exar in a long past war.  Morton and Roy thought Bowser had kicked Exar out of Plit a long time ago and he was just returning.

Bowser started the meeting by breathing fire on the torch in the center of the table.  After a traditional prayer to DAD, they got down to the business at hand.

“Okay, you’ve probably all heard that tonight I will tell you about Exar. It all started when I was still in school and DAD was the teacher…

“Hey!” Larry shouted, “I thought you said DAD conquered Dark Land 3000 years ago!”

“He did, but did you think HE died right after HE conquered it?” Bowser retorted, “Besides, your father is older than you think.”

Chapter Two: Flashback

Note: From now on, when I do a flashback it will be in script form.

DAD: Evil Villain School will come to order!  Exar?

Exar: Here!D

AD: DeDeDe?

DeDeDe: Here!

DAD: Ganon?

Ganon: Here!

DAD: M. Brain?

M. Brain: Here!

DAD: Giovanni?

Giovanni: Here!

DAD: Andross?

Andross: Here!

DAD: That completes the roll call.  Now, we have a new student here today. His name is Bowser.

Bowser enters. He is sporting a few bruises from his recent encounters with the Yoshis.

DAD: Hello Bowser, I see you have already tried out a few evil schemes. Here you will learn how to make even better evil schemes and defeat your enemies.

Bowser: Good, I can’t wait.

Exar: (To himself) Phew, for a second there I was worried that this new kid would be a threat to my position in this class as best student.

Two years later…

DAD: …and that covers that chapter.  Now remember, next week there will be a test over all we discussed these past three years. After you take it, you will be assigned to a world that will be easy to conquer with your abilities. Also, the one who scores lowest on the test will be expelled.

Exar: (To himself) That Bowser is a bigger threat to me than I thought.  I’ll have to make sure he scores the lowest.

One week later…

DAD: Today is your final exam. I hope you studied.

Exar: OH NO! I forgot to study! Rrrrrr… I hate Bowser!

Chapter Three: Ambush!

“So that’s why Exar hated us,” murmured Lemmy after Bowser finished his story.

“Yes,” said Bowser, “Exar was expelled, and I got the highest score on the test, so I was assigned to stay here.”

“So, what happened to DAD?”

“The day after I graduated, HE made up the last of life’s lessons, and died.”

“Wow.”

“Okay, meeting’s over.  Remember, tonight we’ll fix up the ceiling and finish the castle.”

That night, they finished the ceiling.  They were eating dinner under it when an ominous rumbling began to fill the castle.  The rumbling soon turned to a roar.  Suddenly, a bomb careened through the ceiling and exploded just inches above the table.

Looking up at the ceiling, they saw Exar above the castle in a huge flying machine. “That was just a warning shot,” he called down, “now, surrender your castle, before I reduce it to rubble!”

“Iggy! Lemmy! Ludwig! Roy! Larry! Morton! Wendy!” Bowser shouted, “Destroy that machine!”

They pointed their wands at it, but they were ripped out of their hands by a magnet at the bottom of the machine. Meanwhile, Exar shot Bowser with a weapon on his machine. A white light engulfed Bowser, and when it dissipated, Bowser was gone!  Laughing madly, Exar flew away.

Chapter Four: Exar’s Life

Bowser awoke with a splitting headache.  He was in chains over some kind of lava pit.  Some kind of hovercraft was in front of him. Exar was inside it.

“So, the prisoner awakes,” Exar said, “How did you like the welcoming committee?”

“They were very… thorough,” Bowser murmured.  After he had been transported to Exar’s castle, he had been set upon by Sledge Brothers, and beaten into unconsciousness. “Now, where are my Kids?”

“Oh, them,” Exar laughed,“I left them in your castle. It will be entertaining to watch them struggle through without you until they are crushed by the rebellion I started among your troops.” Bowser was silent “I suppose you want to know what I did while I was away,” Exar whispered, leaning close, “No? Well, I’ll tell you anyway.”

Exar: I hate him.  I HATE him.  I HATE HIM!

Mysterious Voice: Who do you hate?

Exar: Bowser!

Mysterious Voice: Bowser from this world?

Exar: Yes!

Mysterious Voice: Come with me then, I may be able to help you.

They go into an alley and into a portal. As they are being transferred, the figure removes his cloak to reveal…Smithy!

Exar: Who are you?

Smithy: My name is Smithy.  If you want revenge against Bowser, I will give you the chance to kill him.

Exar: (Narration) Smithy took me to his factory and started teaching me to be a warrior.

Smithy: No, not like that, like this!

Exar: (swinging a hammer) Like this?

Smithy: Exactly.

Exar: (Narration) When Smithy attacked your world, he sent me to pilot Exor, the sword.

Exar: Oh no!  The eyes are offline. I’m unprotected. The mouth is gone. I can’t hurt them. And everything is going wrong up here!

Computer Voice: Portal opened. Self-destruct in 3…2…1…

Exar dives out of the cockpit and into Exor’s mouth After a long run, Exar arrives in Smithy’s lair.

Exar: Smithy sir, Mario’s on his way here!

Smithy: YOU MEAN YOU LET HIM GET PAST YOU!?!

Exar: Well, sir…

Smithy: YOU IDOIT!

Smithy hits Exar with his hammer.  Exar goes flying.

Exar: Wait, sirrrrrrrr…

Exar: (Narration) After you defeated him, I discovered his hammer had great power, so I stole it.  That brings us to today.

“Well, that’s my life,” Exar said, “Now say goodbye!” He began to smash Smithy’s hammer against the chain on Bowser’s right claw. Bowser struggled, but Exar glared at him and he was paralyzed. “Happy landings, Bowser!” Exar laughed.

Suddenly the castle wall exploded, and through the hole came…The Koopalings!

Chapter 5: The Final Battle

 “HA HA HA!” Exar laughed, “So the wimps are back for more!”

“We're not wimps!” Wendy screamed.

They all took out a boomerang and threw it. Exar threw up a shield, but the boomerangs weren’t aimed for him, they were aimed for their wands! Exar dived for them, but he was too slow. By the time he made it to the
pile of wands, it was gone! “Aim,” Ludwig shouted, “Fire!”

As magic was shot at him, Exar began to glow red. Then, some kind of shield around him shattered, and one more blast knocked Smithy’s hammer out of his hands.  It fell into the lava pit, and broke Bowser’s chain on his right arm on the way down.  With his right arm free, he began to struggle free and climb up.

“NO!” Exar screamed.  He gestured like throwing something, and seven knives flew out of his hand.  There were seven screams as the knives struck home, and the Koopalings sank to the floor.

Then Bowser climbed out of the pit.  Exar came to him and threw him a sword. “Now just you and me Bowser, like it was always meant to be.  En guarde!”

They dueled up and down the floor, left hand and claw spread to grab or punch.  Exar locked hilts with Bowser above their heads, a move that brought their faces close to each other. “You know what I’m going to do after I kill you, Bowser?  I’m going to revive your kids and brainwash them.  They will serve me!” He spat the words in Bowser’s face.

That broke any semblance of calm Bowser had left.  He screamed, “NO!” and charged at Exar.

That was what Exar had been waiting for.  He dodged Bowser’s blows until he saw his chance. He struck a particularly vicious blow that sheared Bowser’s sword in half.  Bowser was in too fierce a rage to notice.  He jammed his broken sword half into Exar.  The sword hilt sank into Exar’s chest and came
out the other side.  Exar slumped to the floor, dead!

Bowser stood in triumph until he saw the scene.  The Koopalings were all on the floor, almost dead.  The only one who showed any sign of life was Lemmy. Bowser ran over to him, and took his claw in his much larger one. “Lemmy.”

“King Dad, I’m dying.”

“Lemmy, you must live.”

“I can’t.”

“Lemmy!”

“It’s okay, we will be in a… better… place.” And with that, he died.

Bowser buried his head in his claws and cried.

Chapter 5: The Ending

The Koopalings were floating upwards on clouds. They came to a gate of white. As they looked at it, a Koopa that looked remarkably like Bowser came up to them. “Hello, I am known as DAD. I see you are Iggy, Lemmy, Roy, Morton, Ludwig, Larry, and Wendy.”

“DAD?” Roy whispered, “Does that mean we’re…”

“Dead? I’m afraid so, but you won’t be for long. Although I would love to keep you here, there is someone down there who needs you a lot more than I do up here. I will give you a choice though.  If you want to stay here, I will let you, but if you want to live again, I will sent you back down.”

“I’m going back, Dad might kill himself without us.”

“I concur.”

“I want to leave too because if Dad is miserable he might not beat the Mario Brothers and they might take over Dark Land and capture him and torture…”

DAD rolled his eyes and gestured. Morton kept talking, but no sound came out of his mouth. “Are we in agreement then?”

“Yes. DAD, we want to go home.”

As Bowser turned to leave the room, a light appeared behind him.  Startled, he turned around.  His Koopaling’s bodies were bathed in light.  It seemed like they were being hung up by a string, like a rag doll.  As the light began to infuse their bodies, their eyes started to open and their wounds healed.  Suddenly, a bright flash lit up the area.  When it was gone, the Koopalings were standing in the room, good as new.

“Larry! Roy! Wendy! Morton! Ludwig! Iggy! Lemmy! You’re alive!”

Later that day, back in New Castle Koopa, Bowser called another meeting. “Okay, now I have a question to ask you. How did you weaken Exar enough for me to kill him?”

“Simple, (Well, not really) we remembered that both times Exar attacked us, he stole our wands.  We asked ourselves, why would he steal our wands unless he could only be harmed by magic? Either way, it worked.  Exar’s shield was broken, and you killed him.”

“One more thing, Exar said that he had started a rebellion among our troops.  Is that true?”

“Yes, but as you know, they think we’re gods.  We threatened to use our “divine” powers on them.”

“I should have known that,” Bowser laughed as the sun set behind the castle.
