Exar’s dead body lay on the floor in his castle. Strangely, his body did not rot. It began to shrink into a smaller shape. After two weeks, it had condensed into a jet-black gem on a gold chain.
Bowser had started looting Exar’s castle two days after he had returned to his own castle. He ordered that Exar’s body be left there to rot. When Bowser went there on the last day to inspect the castle, he saw the gem. He thought some one had stolen the body, but he decided to take the necklace along.
Later, the Koopas battled the Mario Brothers again. They were beaten, but they were closer this time then ever before. Iggy was especially valiant in this attempt, so Bowser decided to reward him. “Iggy!”
“Yes, King Dad?”
“Since you fought the Mario Brothers well last time, I will give you this gem as a reward.”
“Wow, thanks, King Dad!”
Later that day, Roy broke Iggy’s glasses by purposefully stepping on them. He was sent to the dungeon, but Iggy wanted a personal revenge. To help him think of it, he held the gem in his hand. When he held it, a voice whispered in his head. “You want revenge?”
“Yes, of course I do!”
“I will help you. Put the necklace on.”
Iggy put on the necklace. He saw a black figure in his head.
“You must allow me control of your body.” Iggy did so.
Iggy went down to the dungeon, and into Roy’s cell. Roy pounced on him and said, “I’m going to beat you up for this!”
Iggy, or more specifically, the being, grabbed Roy by the throat, and held him up with strength far beyond that of any Koopaling. He said, “No, I am going to kill you!”
Roy struggled, but Iggy’s hand began to glow red, and so did Roy. When he let go, Roy slumped to the floor, drained of all life.
Iggy’s right arm turned black. “Ahhhhh! Energy!” sighed the being.
“Okay now, give me back my body,” Iggy said.
“Why should I?” the thing said, “I now have enough energy to destroy the entire Koopa family!”
Suddenly, Iggy appeared inside his own head! He was standing behind the figure of black, and shackled, claw and foot. Outside, his eyes turned red.
The next thing he did was lock Lemmy in his room. Then he transformed into an image of Lemmy, and went into Wendy’s room. “Hello, Wendy,” he said, “Right now I’ve just figured out what I feel about you.” He grabbed her and gave her a passionate kiss. She only resisted for a few seconds, and then submitted gladly. Iggy reached his hand up to the back of her neck. His hand started glowing. When they broke the kiss, Wendy sunk to the floor, lifeless.
When Iggy left the room, (in his own form) both of his arms were black.
He next went to the Koopa Lounge, where he saw Ludwig watching the end of a science show. “Hello Ludwig,” said Iggy, “Do you have any new inventions?”
“Yes, I do,” Ludwig said, “Do you want to see them?”
“Yes.” Iggy said.
They walked to Ludwig’s lab. Iggy was looking over Ludwig’s shoulder, and he put a hand on it… Iggy left Ludwig’s lab with a black right leg.
He went to the Koopa Auditorium. As usual, Morton was there, finishing a speech. Iggy went up and shook hands with him, “Nice job, Morton…”
When Iggy left, both his legs were black.
The being couldn’t think of a way to trick Larry, so he just snuck up behind him and grabbed his arms…
When Iggy left Larry’s room, the back of his shell was black.
Iggy smashed open the door to the throne room. Bowser was inside, thinking of a new plan to defeat the Mario Brothers. “Iggy! What are you doing!?!”
“I’m not Iggy!”
Iggy pointed at Bowser. Lightning lanced out of it toward Bowser. It hit him square in the middle of his shell. Bowser was thrown backward several feet.
“You may call me…Exar!” Iggy’s voice
suddenly changed! It went from his usually high male soprano
to a harsh bass.
More lightning shot from Iggy’s claws. It pierced Bowser’s chest and impacted on the wall. Exar moved Iggy’s hands up, and Bowser came up with them.
“Don’t worry, you won’t die from this!”
Exar stopped the lightning. Bowser crashed to the floor. He walked up and placed a hand on Bowser’s head.
The last words he heard were, “You might from this, though.”
Iggy was now all black, except for his head.
Lemmy had just discovered that he had been locked in his room. He was trying to break out. He threw his ball at the door. This made a crack just large enough for him to slip through. Unfortunately, he couldn’t squeeze his ball through. He stumbled along the halls until he came to a large central room. Iggy stepped out from behind the opposite door that Lemmy came in.
“Ah, the main course is finished, time for dessert!” he said menacingly.
“Iggy! What have you done?”
“I have had my revenge!” Iggy’s eyes glew an even brighter red.
Lemmy took out his wand and sent a shot at Iggy. Iggy retaliated with lightning. It dissipated Lemmy’s shot and hit him in the chest. It flipped Lemmy head over tail. Iggy strode over and picked Lemmy up by the back of his shell.
“Where do you get the gall to challenge me? ME? I’m going to enjoy this…” His hand started glowing.
“Iggy! Brother! Don’t!” Lemmy cried in desperation.
Inside Iggy’s head, the real Iggy heard Lemmy’s cries. He was filled with such a hatred for that black figure that he suddenly was endowed with super-Koopaling strength. He snapped his manacles and his shackles like they were made of paper. With a roar, the Koopaling launched himself at the black figure.
Lemmy had given himself up for lost.
Suddenly, something unexpected happened. Iggy’s right arm began to fade
back to its original color. It let him go and started to try to rip the
necklace off. As he did, his left arm, which was still black, grasped his
right arm and began to pull his right arm away. Unexpectedly, his entire
body began to fade from black to white, and everything in between. Iggy
went into seizures. He fell to the floor, wracked with muscle spasms. It
seemed his body wanted to rip itself up from the inside. Lemmy saw his
chance. He grabbed the necklace and broke the chain, making it fall to
the
floor. He then crushed it underfoot.
Three things happened at once: Iggy gasped, the gem flashed, throwing Iggy and Lemmy against the opposite walls, and six points of light glowed, flying down separate hallways. Smoke floated up from the crushed gem. Gradually, the smoke took form. The form was a lean, muscular man.“Exar!” Lemmy gasped.
“You will die for this, Lemmy Koopa!” Exar hissed, “Slowly, and in great pain.”
Exar hurled a bolt at Lemmy. Lemmy tried to dodge but couldn’t. The bolt caught him in the shoulder and knocked him onto his back. Exar hurled another bolt. He aimed it at the point where his neck went into his shell, a very sensitive spot on Koopas. Lemmy screamed in pain as the bolt slammed into him. Exar hurled bolt after bolt, each time aiming where the bolt would hurt the most, but holding back on the killing bolts. When Exar was finished, Lemmy was burned in many places, and smoke was rising from his body.
“And now,” Exar laughed triumphantly, “You will die!” A smile spread across his face, a smile that could of held all the evil and menace in the world.
Exar gathered a huge ball of energy and sent an awesome bolt of power at Lemmy. Lemmy was too weak to even try to dodge. Suddenly, Iggy was between them! He swung his wand in a blazing arc, intercepting the lightning bolt, absorbing half of it and sending the other half straight back at Exar. The energy was still so intense that Iggy was still thrown back a few feet.
While Exar was still stunned by his own bolt, Lemmy staggered to his feet. He held out his wand. “Iggy, focus all your energy on this wand!”
Exar just recovered from his own bolt. He saw Iggy and Lemmy and laughed scornfully. They fired their bolt. Exar noticed it at the last second. He sent lightning surging to intercept it, but he was too late. It blew up in his face. He screamed, and his body began to shrink. It shrank into another gem, but this gem was flashing. It slowed flashing and then exploded.
Lemmy and Iggy dove to the floor. When the explosion was over, they were both badly battered. Iggy had a long jagged slash on one arm from a piece of shrapnel. Koopalings were made to be tough, but this was too much. They fainted clean away.
When Bowser found them, their breathing
was shallow, and their hearts were fluttering, but they were alive!
Iggy and Lemmy are now recovering.
They both had extensive injuries. Lemmy was covered in burns and bruises,
and had a broken arm and leg. Iggy was in somewhat better shape with a
few burns, some deep bruises, and a slash on one arm. They are still in
critical care, but they will be okay, knowing that Exar is finally gone.
