Chapter One

One cloudy day, two plumbers, Mario Mario and Luigi Mario, got a call from a lady to fix the drain in her bathtub. The brothers quickly started off for her house with all their plumbing supplies. They arrived at the house after a short drive though Brooklyn traffic and knocked on the door. "Mario Bros. Plumbing-No clog too big!" called Mario.

"No job too small!" Luigi continued.

"Come in, here is the clogged drain," the lady told them.

"We'll get right on it, ma'am," said Mario.

The two plumbers worked on the drain for a few minutes and Luigi found the clog. "Gimme a hand, will ya Mario?"

"Sure thing Luigi!" Mario responded.

The plumbers started to pull up the clog when all of a sudden they were pulled down the drain! They fell for a very long time and finally came out of the pipe and landed in a strange place."Hey Mario, I don't think we're in Brooklyn anymore. Look, walking mushrooms!" Luigi pointed out.

Mario and Luigi watched the Mushrooms running in their direction. Mario caught one of them and started to ask some questions. "Hi, I'm Mario and this is my brother Luigi. Where is this place?"

"You're in the Mushroom Kingdom! Hurry, run!"

"Run from what?" Luigi asked the Mushroomer.

"Goombas! They're after us! My name is Toad and I have to find someone to save the Princess, she's been kidnaped by King Koopa."

Mario asked, "Who's King Koopa and who's this Princess?"

Toad replied, "King Koopa is the leader of the Koopa Troop, a band of reptiles that are trying to take over our world. Princess Toadstool was the leader of the Mushroom Kingdom and Koopa has her locked up in his castle and has sent out all of his troops to attack us."

Mario thought things through for a few seconds and then said, "Luigi, we should do something about this, let’s go talk to that Koopa guy and see if we can get him to listen to us."

"I don't know Mario, this all seems pretty weird to me..."

"Well, if we can get to his castle and save the Princess, then maybe she can find a way for us to get back to the real world," Mario reasoned.

"Since you put it that way, then I guess we should."

"You'll have to get rid of those Goombas first, they're coming this way, jump on them!" said Toad.

Mario and Luigi did some Goomba tromping and came back to Toad.

"Piece O' cake!" grinned Mario.

Luigi agreed, "Yeah, no sweat."

"You guys are SUPER!” said Toad, wide-eyed. “But there are a few things you should know about before you go off to pay Koopa a visit. You see that block up there? Well jump up and smash it.”

Mario jumped up and smashed the block and a Mushroom came out of it.

Toad explained, "If you touch a Mushroom, it will give you more power so that you'll have the strength to beat Koopa. Now jump and smash that block, Mario."

Mario jumped again and a flower came out of the block.

Toad continued, "If you get a flower you can shoot fire from your finger. Try it Mario!"

Mario fried a Goomba that was hiding behind a tree. "Wow! This is great!" he laughed.

"This is great and all, but what about me?" Luigi pouted.

Toad complied, "Ok, Luigi, you bash that block way up there."

Luigi bashed a block and a flashing star came out.

Toad explained, "Touch the Star Man and you will be invincible for a short period of time."

"This is awesome!" shouted Luigi.

"Now you're ready to begin your quest,” concluded Toad. “There are Mushroomers thathave been captured and are being held by Koopa look-alikes that arereally servents. Oh and one other thing, some blocks have coins in them.If you bash them be sure to take the coins with you, you can use them tobuy things in mushroom stores.Good luck!"

"Thank you Toad!" Mario and Luigi called.

And so the Mario Brothers embarked on their quest to save Princess Toadstool, rescue the captured Mushroomers, and defeat the Koopa army.

Meanwhile at Koopa Castle...

"Let me go, you repulsive creep!" Princess Toadstool screamed.

"Not yet, my dear, at least not until after the wedding," replied King Koopa.

"What wedding?" the Princess asked.

King Koopa laughed, "Why ours, of course! Mwa ha ha ha!"

"I thought you were already married," observed the Princess.King Koopa:

"Only so I'll have evil Koopa Kids to rule the Mushroom Kingdom after me. Ludwig! Lemmy! Come and meet your new mom-to-be!"

Ludwig and Lemmy called, "Coming King Dad!"

"I'd like you to meet my two great Koopalings, Ludwig and Lemmy Koopa!" King Koopa introduced.

"So nice to meet you mommy dear, it will be nice to have someone to test my latest experiments on instead of Lemmy," smiled Ludwig.

"And I can teach you how to ride a ball around all day!” laughed Lemmy. “Then you can clean my room and feed my pet..."

King Koopa stopped him. "Don't get too ahead of yourselves kids, you can tell your mother what she has to do for you after the wedding."

Lemmy sighed. “Come on Ludwig, let’s go play video games."

Ludwig agreed, "Great idea Lemmy!"

"I'm not going to be their mother!" snapped Princess Toadstool.

King Koopa pretended to look shocked, "Well of course you will, you’re gonna be my wife, so that makes you their mother."

"I'm not going to be your wife either, creep!" the Princess yelled.

"We'll just see about that. It's not like anyone can help you," King Koopa waved off the subject.

King Koopa exited the room, humming the wedding tune.
