Chapter 4: The Problem in Gritzy Desert
Mario has been at home for days, having Luigi take command of the Bro Brigade. Vivian then visits him.
Vivian: Hi Mario.
Mario: Hey Vivian. How's the Bro Brigade?
Vivian: Um... Well... Actually...
Then Goombario bursts in, laughing.
Goombario: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! You should see the news, Mario! Channel 3!
Mario gets up and turns on the TV and changes the channel.
Toad: This has been a bad day. The Shy Guys have taken over Gritzy Desert, and the Bro Brigade can't pull themselves together under the command of... Green Guy. Luckily, the Bro Brigade members have been able to record everything! Let's watch.
It goes to the video, showing the Koopasium.
Snifaros are standing guard. But then a huge cloud of dust appears, as
a nearby statue is revealed to be a Tanoomba. While the Snifaros are surprised,
the Tanoomba flies into the air and transforms into a Thwomp. Only one
Snifaro dodges this attack and knocks over the Thwomp Tanoomba. But then
Gritty Goombas in mechs along with the Goomba King come
out of the sand.
Goomba King: Attack!
More Snifaros comes out of the Koopasium and begin shooting at the Gritty Goombas, knocking some of them out. Then a huge sandstorm appears, covering everything. Then Luigi's face comes onto the screen.
Luigi: We'll have to get closer.
He is seen getting onto a kart and driving toward the Koopasium along with other Bro Brigade members. Luigi climbs through a window, only to fall through. Everyone else sighs and follows Luigi.
???: We must protect the Sniflets in Gritzy Caverns!
It shows General Guy entering in with his tank. A war wages between Shy Guys and Snifaros against the Gritty Goombas and Tanoombas. Meanwhile as he is watching, Goombario starts eating popcorn. Mario and Vivian stare at him.
Goombario: Oh. Sorry. I didn't think you would want any popcorn.
The video continues. Snifaros are zooming around the place, shooting at the Goombas. The Tanoombas cleverly disguise themselves as Shy Guys and take out some of them. The Gritty Goombas also use sandstorms to cover the troops. But the Shy Guys are smart enough to see through this deception, as two Shy Guys start attacking another Shy Guy.
Attacked Shy Guy: Hey! For the last time, I'm not a Tanoomba!
Attacking Shy Guy: A likely story!
But then something happens that catches Mario's attention. Luigi is climbing up General Guy's tank, unnoticed.
Mario: What the? Is he crazy?!
Vivian: Shh... Keep watching.
General Guy fires a Bullet Bill, but then Luigi jumps on it, taming it.
Luigi: Let's-a go!
He is redirecting the Bullet Bill toward a group of fighting Goombas and Shy Guys. But then a Shy Guy with a tennis racket whacks the Bullet Bill into a different direction... toward the Bro Brigade and the camera.
Koopa: Oh butter biscuits.
Then everything blows up and the camera goes out. Goombario begins laughing.
Goombario: Whahahaha!!! And that started just because of a tennis racket!
News Toad: Later on, the Bro Brigade went back to Gritzy Desert to see the damage.
Then it shows a picture of the Koopasium, except every statue of a shell has been replaced by a statue of a Shy Guy, and a Shy Guy flag has risen from the top of the building. Mario, seeing this, is quiet for a moment... until he decides to talk.
Mario: Vivian, you're now the leader of the Bro Brigade. Oh, and please set Luigi on fire for me.
Vivian: Can do, Mario!
