This was a time of peace for Plit. The Mushroom and Koopa Kingdoms had finally set all their fighting aside for a long-awaited truce. Everyone was overjoyed by the unexpected truce. No one was tied to a single kingdom and all seemed perfect. But all that happiness was just a play that was about to get the final curtain…
Prologue: A Jester’s Evil Return…
“There is an old tale of a dank cave in the farthest corner of Sarasaland, where dimensions are distorted. It is said to be the entrance to a world where an ancient, powerful item sleeps…” a dark figure said to himself as he stepped into a dank cave.
The figure walked deeper and deeper into the cave, the rocks of the walls seemingly becoming distorted the farther in he went. Soon, the darkness was replaced by an almost blinding light, the light coming from a small red gem sitting on a pedestal.
“It can give its holder unmatched power…” the figure said, slowly stepping up to the gem.
Slowly taking the gem, the figure stepped away from the altar. They stopped as the world began to shake, soon fading in and out of sight. With a snap, the figure and gem were gone, leaving the dimension to fade into nonexistence.
No one in the
new peace-ruled Plit suspected the new evil that was about to throw their
world into chaos…
Chapter 1: Fall of an Evil King
The sun was shining brightly in Toad Town, townspeople running about, doing their own business. Lemmy and Iggy were out for a walk in their old enemy town, enjoying the warmth of the sun.
“I never thought I would say this, but a truce is just what we needed,” said Lemmy as he rolled on his green star ball.
“I’m just happy that we don’t have to be punished for losing to the Mario Bros. anymore,” Iggy replied, looking around the shops. His gaze stopped on what seemed to be a street performer dressed in a purple and yellow jester costume, complete with a smiling mask. “Hey Lemmy, look, magic tricks.”
Lemmy spied the jester, noticing something odd about him. “He looks like someone I’ve seen before…” he said, eying him suspiciously.
“It’s probably just in your head; let’s go see what kind of magic he’s doing.”
The Joopa brothers walked, and rolled, over to the performer, only to be greeted with a happy cheer.
“Want to see a cool little trick of mine?” the jester asked them, holding up what seemed to be a small, brown ball.
“Sure, what are you going to do?” Lemmy asked.
“Well, first I need one of you,” he replied, quickly pulling Iggy over to him and balancing the ball on his head. “Now I do this…” He hit the ball down, seemingly into Iggy’s skull. When he lifted his hand up, the ball was gone. “And it disappears.”
Iggy rubbed his head, the impact of the trick leaving him a bit sore. Lemmy just clapped at it. Lemmy dropped a few coins into a jar the jester had in front of him, resulting in a “Thank you.”
As the two Koopas departed, the jester quietly cackled to himself, watching them leave. “Step one complete…” he said, snapping his fingers and disappearing into this air. “No one can stop the great Dimentio…”
Later that night in Koopa Keep, everything was going on as usual, except one little thing was different. Iggy had been locked in his room ever since he and Lemmy got back from their tour of Toad Town.
“Yes Master, I will take care of him at once…” Iggy said to a shadowy figure that was in the room with him. He slowly, almost dizzily, left the room and entered the halls of the Keep.
Downstairs in the Keep’s lounge, the other Koopalings were about their own business, mostly watching TV or talking.
“What do you guys think is up with Iggy?” Lemmy asked as he practiced his newest ball trick. “He was fine earlier.”
“He’s probably just scared of the beating I have planned for him,” Roy answered, punching a bag with a picture of Iggy on it.
“Or maybe that invention that Ludwig said he was going to test on him.” Larry snickered when a metal box Ludwig was working on fell apart.
Their attention was quickly moved to the door as it was slammed open, Iggy standing in the doorway. “Not in here either…” he grumbled.
“Who are you looking for?” Lemmy asked, falling off his ball after a failed attempt at his trick. “And what’s that on your head?”
There was a small stalk of some sort with leaves on top resting on his head.
“Nerd boy’s trying to be a Pikmin,” Roy said, cracking his knuckles. “You’re late for your daily beating.”
Roy approached his slightly younger brother, a large smirk on his face. He threw a hard punch at Iggy, who, to everyone’s surprise, caught Roy’s fist, bending his wrist backward.
“Since when could you do that?” Roy growled. “You won’t be able to do that twice though!” He threw a punch with his other hand, only to have it caught as well.
Iggy lifted up one foot and kicked Roy in the stomach, forcing the large Koopaling crashing to the floor. Iggy picked up Roy by the throat and managed to lift him up into the air.
“You will not interfere with my mission…” Iggy said, tightening his grip on his brother’s throat.
“Iggy, let him go!” Wendy commanded.
“I know he’s beaten you countless times, but that doesn’t mean you can kill him!” Ludwig called.
All the pleas from his siblings were ignored as Roy’s face slowly changed into a dark purple as he struggled. The others tried to stop Iggy, but were just pushed away. Roy soon stopped struggling and fell limp, Iggy dropping him to the floor. Iggy just left the room without a word as everyone else huddled around the motionless Roy.
“Not exactly what I had in mind, but now I know that my upgraded Floro Sprout is a success…” Dimentio laughed to himself as he floated outside a nearby window. “It’s only a matter of time until this world is the stage for my play of success…”
