Super Mario Revelations II: The Lunar Flower

By Mario & Luigi

Hi! Mario & Luigi here, and welcome to Super Mario Revelations II: The Lunar Flower, my official sequel to part one. If you read my story and liked it, then you should (I'm not saying you will) surely praise SMR II. I hope you have a lot of free time because this story is going to be longer than my previous story. You can bring some snacks to eat while reading this story, but before we go on, let's take a recap of part one.

After another adventure, Mario decided to take a break by walking around Mushroom City. When he encountered an elderly but wise Toad, he was given a special coin that may become of use sometime when Mario would have another adventure.. When the stroll was over, Mario took a rest. However, his rest wasn't comfortable due to the fact that Mario had a nightmare that shook him a bit. The next day, a surprise attack befell the Mushroom Kingdom. When Mario came to the scene of the attack, he found out that it was Bowser who was leading it (obviously). But things were different this time, as Bowser has gotten six of Mario's old foes to make an alliance with him. They kidnapped Peach and several other princesses (the Princesses of Heart) and stole the Sacred Stars to unlock the Halo of Dreams. Mario received a book left behind by Bowser, and headed to Star Sanctum. When he got there, he met up with Koops and, together, they made their way to Sub-con.

When they got to Sub-con, they fought their way through many of Wart's generals. When they reached Triclyde, they challenged him for the red Sacred Star. After a long battle Mario and Koops eliminated Triclyde and got the red Sacred Star. On their way to Wart's castle, they encountered Amy, one of the 4 magicians secretly watching over Mario, but she had been captured (and thrown out the window) by Wart. With Amy, Mario and Koops reached and took down Wart and saved Princess Shokora. Later, Ludwig and Roy, under Bowser's orders, invaded Toad Town, but were taken down by Mario, Koops, and, near the end of the battle, Luigi, who joined the party. The Mario Bros. and Koops traveled the same route Mario took when Mario tried to restore his castle, but X-Nauts were plaguing the path. After facing many obstacles and freeing Alison, Amy's sister, Mario and Co reached the Wario Bros, eliminated them, freed Daisy, and took the orange Sacred Star.

When the group went to Toad Town to take a break, Mario was plagued by a serious nightmare. The voice in his dream said that Bowser wasn't behind the incident. After waking up and freeing Emily, another one of Amy's sisters, she gave Mario info about how to get to the X-Naut base. Mario, alongside Luigi and Koops, took different routes to find the Flight Star pieces. At the funeral home, Mario encountered lore about the Mecha Angels. Luigi, at Mushroom City, fought Iggy alone. Koops, in the Toad Town sewers, encountered a note from Rosemary, Amy's youngest sister, and fought a giant Blooper along the way. After uniting the pieces of the Flight Star, Mario and Co. reached the X-Naut base, rescued Rosemary (an adolescent female Toad/Human/Mecha Angel hybrid), and saved Éclair, one of the Princesses of Heart. They also defeated Crump and Grodus, even the Magnus von Grapple 3.0, and got the yellow Sacred Star. Afterwards, Éclair was taken back home and Rosemary joined the party. Then Wendy attacked Mario and Co. at Mario's Pad. She was, however, brought down by the quartet. Later, Mario and Co. set off to Count Bleck's castle. Along the way, Rosemary revealed the reason why the Light Mecha Angel pieces were installed into her body. After passing through many dimensions as well as receiving the green Sacred Star from Goomboss with the help of Kirby (a puffball from Dream Land), Mario and Co. fought Count Bleck, who was actually Dimentio in disguise, and rescued Princess Sapphire of the Rainbow Kingdom.

After the heroes suffered nightmares, Mario and Co. went to Cackletta's castle. Along the way, Yoshi joined the group. Unfortunately, the six heroes were blasted away by a blue shell. They did, however, reach the Beanbean Kingdom. Completing the challenge the Border Bros. offered, Mario and Co. progressed into the kingdom. Fawful and Morton attacked the kingdom, but they were downed by Mario and Co. Later they went into Woohoo Hooniversity, which was damaged. A Luma went into the Hooniversity and informed Mario and Co. that his mother, Rosalina, who was also one of the Princesses of Heart, was captured by Cackletta. When Mario and Co. reached Joke's End, they split up to take different paths. Each path had its own hazards but also held a piece of a blue star. After the six heroes got the pieces, a girl named Elizabeth told them that it was the pieces of the blue Sacred Star. After uniting the pieces, Mario and Co. found out that the kingdom was under attack (again) by a swarm of Cackletta's followers. However, they cleared off the enemies and reached the castle. When they got there, Rosalina became possessed by the Shadow Queen. After a long fight, Mario used the Sacred Stars to separate Rosalina from the Shadow Queen after a plea from the same Luma who Mario saw back at the Hooneversity. However, this resulted in Cackletta fusing with the Shadow Queen and she nearly killed Mario and Co. However, the Sacred Stars healed them and they eliminated Cackletta and the Shadow Queen. After they took Rosalina and the Luma home, Mario and Co. set off for Smithy's Factory. At Rose Way, the six heroes saw Shysters and Aeros invading the route. Mack was on the path as well, but he was defeated and the Shysters surrendered. However, the Aeros were coming from Bowyer. Another battle started, but in the end, Geno eliminated Bowyer and joined Mario's party. With all seven of the heroes united, they continued to the Factory, fighting Larry and taking the purple Sacred Star along the way. After reaching the Factory, the group fought Smithy and destroyed him, rescuing Cherryblossum afterwards.

When Mario slept at Peach's castle, he suffered from yet another nightmare. This one, however, showed several figures attaching the Dark Mecha Angel pieces to another figure. Later, Bowser commenced an attack on the Mushroom Kingdom. However, Mario and Co. repelled the attack and set off for Bowser's castle. After facing traps, Mario and Co. reached Bowser and fought him. Near the end of the battle, Bowser used the Halo of Dreams to severely damage Mario and his allies. However, the Sacred Stars healed Mario and Co. and took Bowser down. After Bowser was forced to escort Mario and Co. to Peach, they found out that Peach was missing. Then Smithy, who had  survived Mario's blow, came out of nowhere and knocked out Bowser. It turned out that Peach had been  kidnapped by Smithy and he had his minions install the Dark Mecha Angel pieces and a microchip into her body. A long fight resulted. Halfway through, Smithy merged with Peach, which made him invincible, and he nearly killed Mario and Co. Just as he was about to finish them off, the Sacred Stars revived Peach's spirit and she gave the last of her power to the Sacred Stars. The Sacred Stars then fused with Mario and Co. With this new power, Mario and Co. finally finished off Smithy once and for all. However, they used so much energy that when the Sacred Stars went back into Mario's pocket, they felt weak. Eventually, they passed out. A group of Toads found the heroes plus Bowser and Peach. Peach was taken to the hospital, where the doctors removed the microchip and the Dark pieces from her body. Bowser was thrown into prison, and Mario and Co. were taken to the Toad Town Hotel. After visiting Peach, the group split up to go back to their homeplaces.

Everything was peace and quiet for a long time.

....

But, a new plague is about to set foot in the Mushroom Kingdom...

Prelude 2.0

Mario stood outside his pad. It had been really long since he defeated Bowser and prevented him from using the Halo of Dreams to create an outbreak of nightmares. Now, after another victory over Bowser and his legion of Koopas, he wondered what to do next…

"Hm… I defeated Bowser, but I wonder what I should do next?" sighed Mario. Mario looked around and saw that it was a nice day to take a walk in the Mushroom Kingdom. "Well-a, I should go take a walk."

Mario spent most of the day walking around the Mushroom Kingdom. Along the way he visited Peach, who was still in the hospital, traveled into Mushroom City, and visited Toad Town. In Toad Town he encountered something strange. "Huh?" muttered Mario, looking confused. "What is this?"

It was a flower. But, this was no ordinary flower. This flower had a mysterious glow to it, but the glow was also divine at the same time. The flower had white and golden petals. "What kind of-a flower is this?" asked Mario to himself. "Whatever this flower is, I've never seen this kind before."

Mario went back to his house. At night he went back out to see the flower. The flower was glowing brighter than before and the petals were colorful now. "???" Mario was now shocked by the flower and what it was doing. Mario went back into his house.

The next day, Mario plucked the flower from the ground. While he was carrying it around, a merchant saw him carrying the flower. "I see what you are carrying," said the merchant. The merchant was a wise person, but Mario didn't know how old he was, as he couldn't see his face. The merchant was wearing a purple robe.

"Oh, this?" said Mario as he pulled out the flower from his pocket. "What flower is this anyway?"

"That," answered the merchant, "is the lunar flower."

"The lunar flower, hm?" said Mario.

"This flower can grow only in the night, as its name suggests."

"What else can it do? What kind of-a powers does it-a possess?"

"It can hold many surprises inside. Some of them contain items that can be useful, some can spit poison, some contain nothing, others can show a memory to a person. It can do many other things, but I can't tell them all."

"Okay, where can I put the lunar flower?"

"Place it in Princess Peach's castle."

"All right, I will."

Mario went inside the castle and placed the lunar flower in a container in the main room. "There," said Mario to himself, "that should do it."

Mario walked out of Peach's castle. At his pad...

"Hey Bro," said Luigi, Mario's brother, "I heard you found a flower, right? What kind of flower is it?"

"A merchant told me that the flower I found is a lunar flower," Mario replied.

"Woah."

"Yeah, pretty weird, isn’t it?"

"Yes."

At night Mario went to Peach's castle but didn't go in. Instead, he sat down next to a small river flowing next to Peach's castle.

"Hm, I found a lunar flower," Mario whispered to himself. "I wonder what's next?"

Seconds later, a merchant came up to Mario. It was the same merchant who Mario saw earlier in the day. "You are Mario, aren’t you?" asked the merchant.

"Yes, I-a am," Mario answered.

"There is one thing I forgot to tell you. The lunar flower can do something, but this chance is very rare."

"Go on," said Mario.

"What a lunar flower can do," continued the merchant, "is sprout a beautiful, young, divine maiden when it blooms."

"Can it?"

"Rarely, but yes."

"Oh, all right then. Bye-a."

The merchant left.

"Is it true that a girl can sprout from a lunar flower when it blooms?" asked Mario to himself. "I'm not sure if I'm suppose to believe in that..."

Mario slowly passed out. Seconds turned into minutes, which turned into an hour. Then, before Mario could realize what was happening...

SHATTER! CRACK!

"Huh?" Mario jumped up from his sleeping position. "What was that?"

Mario rushed inside the castle and noticed that the flower was gone. Its container was also shattered. "What... just happened?" Mario pondered to himself. Then he heard a noise. "What was that noise?" Mario whispered. He paused. It sounded like a distant musical note. "I need to find where the note is coming from."

Mario grabbed a nearby flashlight to search the castle. He entered Peach's room, which was empty. When he entered the stairway, he noticed some of the container's glass on the stairs. "There must be something upstairs, but I don't-a have a clue what's up there," Mario sighed.

As Mario continued on, he noticed some grass-colored drops on the stairs. "I wonder what that stuff on the carpet is…" Mario muttered. Mario continued to head up the stairs until reaching the door. But, the door was locked.

"Locked," Mario sighed, annoyed. Mario pushed on the door and the lock creaked slightly. "Hm, I can destroy the lock." Mario kicked the lock multiple times before it finally shattered. Mario continued on. In the hallway, he noticed that the note was getting louder. "The noise-a must be coming from the roof," Mario gasped. "I need to hurry."

Mario climbed up the stairs to the third floor. When he reached the roof via ladder from there, he searched the area with his flashlight. While he was searching, he noticed a bright light shining from the other side of the roof. As he approached the light, Mario turned his flashlight off. Inside the light, he finally noticed a figure once he was up close. The person was a female adorned in a snow-colored dress with golden, rainbow, white, and yellow flowers. Her hair had a pale blond color and was curled into dozens of locks. She was singing to the moon with a divine, soprano voice.

"Is... she the one... who sprouted from the flower?" Mario muttered to himself. The singing lasted for 5 minutes, but for Mario it felt like hours. Then the girl slowly closed her eyes and passed out. The light around her faded away. She started falling down the roof and would have hit the ground had Mario not caught her. Mario sighed and said, "I’d better take her to my house."

Mario carried the girl to his pad. He placed her down on the couch in his living room. "I think I should keep her here." said Mario. He was about to leave when the girl started to wake up.

"Oooohhhhh..." the girl moaned. "Where am I?"

"You are at my pad," Mario told the girl.

"Who are you?" the girl asked.

"It's-a-me, Mario!" said Mario, quoting his usual catchphrase.

"My name is Lily." the girl said, "Listen, I need your help. My people are in grave danger. There is a dark source causing destruction among my people, and you can help me."

"Who is it?"

"It's a Koopa with psycho glasses."

"?!? $%^&... Iggy... I thought he was dead."

"He's still alive. Can you help me save my people?"

"I will. And what's with all the singing at the castle?"

"I was making a distress call."

Mario and Lily walked to Luigi's room. Mario tried to wake Luigi, but with no success. After unsuccessful attempts, Mario decided to jump on Luigi, which woke him up. "OWOWOWOWOWOW!!! Whatwhatwhatwhat?!" Luigi shrieked.

"It's okay, Bro," said Mario.

"Oh, hi Mario... What are you trying to... Wait, who's that?"

"That's Lily. She's the one who sprouted from the lunar flower."

"Really?"

"She needs our help. Iggy Koopa is attacking her people and only we can help her. Are you going to help?"

"Sure! Why not? And I thought Iggy was dead..."

"Thank you, Luigi~" sang Lily.

The three soon left the Pad. "All right," said Mario, "we need to find out what Iggy is doing to Lily's people, then we eliminate him."

"Has Iggy taken over your homeplace yet, Lily?" asked Luigi.

"Not yet," Lily answered, with a worried tone in her voice, "but he is starting to consume power from our land."

"Also, how do we get to your land?"

"There are eight special lunar flowers called the Moonlight Flowers. These flowers give outsiders access to our land."

"Then we must find the Moonlight Flowers," proclaimed Mario, "before they fall into Iggy's grasp."

"Not without my help!" interrupted a voice from the trees.

"Who's there?" said Mario. Then a Koopa came from the trees. He was wearing blue shorts and a light blue shirt. He also had a bandage on his nose. It was none other than Koops.

"Koops!" said Mario. "Where are you doing here?"

"I am coming to help you, like last time," replied Koops. Then he noticed Lily. "Huh? Who is that?"

"That," answered Mario, "is Lily. She's a flower maiden, she came from a lunar flower. She did this because she needs our help. Iggy Koopa is wreaking havoc in her homeland."

"Oh."

"So, will you help?"

"Sure."

"All right then, Koops," concluded Mario. He turned to Lily and asked, "Where is the first Moonlight Flower?"

"Well," Lily guessed, "I believe it is on an island filled with many different-colored dinosaurs..."

"Yoshi's Island," said Mario. "That is where it is. We must head there ASAP. Let's-a go!" Mario ran off.

"Right behind you," said Luigi.

Meanwhile, at Iggy's Castle...

"Well, well," said Iggy to himself, "I have all of my forces at the Lunar Flower Kingdom, and I have them searching for their source of power. Soon, when I gain that power, I will avenge my dad, King Bowser Koopa, become unstoppable, and restore the Koopa Kingdom to its rightful place in history." Iggy then cackled loudly.

After several seconds, his cackling was cut off when a Koopa entered his throneroom. "Prince Iggy!" said the Koopa. "I have some news."

"What is it?" asked Iggy.

"Well, the people of the Lunar Flower Kingdom had something that could threaten our operations. They sent a messenger to the Mushroom Kingdom."

"What?!"

"Also, she has recruited the Mario Bros. and Koops for help. They are searching for the Moonlight Flowers, special lunar flowers that give outsiders access to their kingdom."

"Send some of my troops to attack them."

"Will do." The Koopa left.

"Those wretched Mario Bros. and that Koopa...." growled Iggy through his teeth. "I will kill them for imprisoning King Dad.... I will make them pay... I will make them regret the day they beat up my siblings and capturing my dad...”
