Chapter 8: Yoshi and Lava Piranha
Yoshi throws his minionball, and out
pops... A YOSHI?! No, this Yoshi is yellow. Mario and Kooper are confused
at what they are looking at, but YE just grins.
Yoshi: Yellow Yoshi, use egg toss!
Y Yoshi pulls out an egg and throws
it at Lava Piranha with full force. Lava Piranha dodges and counterattacks
with flamethrower. Y Yoshi jumps and starts fluttering.
Yoshi: Egg Roll!
Y Yoshi forms an egg around him and
rolls into Lava Piranha's head. Lava Piranha roars in pain, and quickly
fires razor leaf. Y Yoshi ducks to avoid the leaves. He then goes charging
at Lava.
Yoshi: Egg Bomb!
Y Yoshi pulls out another egg, but
this one has a fuse on it. He throws it and it explodes right in Lava's
face. He roars loudly and sends his vines at Y Yoshi, tying him up. Y Yoshi
tries to free himself, but cannot. Lava Piranha smiles, opens his mouth,
and forms fire shaped like a star.
YE: That's fire blast! The most powerful
fire move in the world!
Yoshi tries to think of a plan. Then,
an idea pops into his head.
Yoshi: TUNG LASH!
Y Yoshi shoots out his tongue at Lava
Piranha and circles his tongue around his head to keep his mouth shut.
Lava cannot fire his fire blast. He uses his free vine to try and get the
tongue off. He manages to, but didn't expect THIS to happen.
Yoshi: HYPER BEAM!
Y Yoshi opens his mouth and fires a
powerful beam right at Lava Piranha's face. He let's go of Y Yoshi, but
falls over. He slowly gets up, and roars loudly. Then fire appears on his
head and the heads of his buds.
YE: His ability has activated.
Mario: And that is?
YE: Flash Fire. But, it functions differently
with Lava. Flash Fire normally raises the attack power or fire moves, but
not with him. When he has 1/4 of HP left, his attack power gets boosted.
Yoshi will have to end this fast.
Lava Piranha opens his mouth and fires
fire blast. Y Yoshi gets hit and sent to the ground. Lava laughs and is
about to end it with solarbeam.
Yoshi: Quickly! Get up!
Y Yoshi stands up, and sees Lava almost
done charging the solarbeam. Yoshi quickly thinks of an idea. He looks
up to the ceiling and sees stalactites. He then gets an idea.
Yoshi: EARTHQUAKE!
Y Yoshi stomps his foot on the ground
and begins an earthquake within the volcano. Due to Lava being in the lava,
it doesn't affect him. But, from above, the stalactites begin falling right
on his head. He gets knocked in the head about ten times, but fires his
solarbeam into the sky. Lava Piranha faints. Everyone is amazed.
Yoshi: Good job, Y Yoshi. You deserve
a good, long rest.
He returns him, and turns to the others.
Yoshi: Well, THAT was annoying. But,
YE, you're free to catch him if you want.
YE approaches the Lava Piranha, throws
a minionball, and catches him.
YE: Yoshi... thanks.
Yoshi: It was nothing.
He turns to Mario and Kooper:
Yoshi: Come on, Mario, you have your
next gym match to look forward to.
They rush off, saying goodbye to the
YE. YE waves, and then looks up into the hole Lava Piranha's solarbeam
made.
YE: Good luck, Mario. You're going
to need it.
Chapter 9: One on One with Luigi
Mario, Kooper, and Yoshi head back
to Toad Town, and head for the shop to see if there are any new TMs.
Shopkeeper: Good news. I just got a
shipment. We have the TMs for lightning orb, toxic, and sand blast.
Mario: We'll take them all, but I'll
have two of lightning orb.
Shopkeeper: Good thing I have more
than one of each. Hehe. Anyway, that will be 300 coins.
Kooper: What?! But is was only 200
last time.
Shopkeeper: Yes, but it's because of
that second lightning orb.
Yoshi: Here.
Yoshi hands him 300 ad takes the TM's,
giving them to Mario.
Kooper: Where did you get all that?
Yoshi: I've been traveling for a while
now. I've got a lot of money, I had to store half of it into the bank.
Anyway, we should head to the next gym.
Mario opens his guide book, and they
find out that the next gym is at...
Mario: Dry Dry Ruins. Great.
Mario, Kooper, and Yoshi start off
toward the train station, where they get on the train to get to Mt. Rugged.
They don't need tickets because they are challenging gyms. Anyway, they
take their seats. About halfway through the trip, Mario sees someone in
the seat next to him. He taps his shoulder. The person turns to Mario's
face and bursts with happiness. Why? Because that person is...
Mario: Luigi!
Luigi: Mario!
They both shake hands and hug.
Mario: It's been a while. How you doing?
Luigi: Good. I see you’re traveling
with Kooper and Yoshi.
Mario: Yup. You traveling with anyone?
Luigi: Yup.
Luigi looks to the other side of him,
and everyone sees Toad, taking a nap.
Luigi: I found him shopping back in
Toad Town. He said he's been traveling around the world to collect rare
minionmon. So, he decided to come with me and help me out on my journey.
Mario: Hmm. Hey, I just had an idea.
You want to have a battle?
Luigi: Hmm, I guess. Shall we have
a one on one?
Mario: Sure.
The train makes a stop, and Mario,
Luigi, and their friends find an open area on Mt. Rugged. Mario and Luigi
go to opposite sides and throw their minionballs, and out pops Unagi and
Electro Blooper.
Luigi: Oh, that's a pretty powerful-looking
Unagi. How'd you get him?
Mario: I took the Fishing Competition
back at Lavalava Island. I won him by catching a giant Cheep Cheep. And
your Blooper, I mean, Electro Blooper seems pretty powerful.
Luigi: Yup. He helped me beat the YE
when he was just a little Blooper.
Mario: Enough talk. Let's battle!
Luigi: Oh, okay! Electro Blooper, bubble
beam!
Electro Blooper shoots out a beam of
bubbles at Unagi, who dodges quickly and goes in for an ice fang. He bites
down on Electro Blooper. But Electro Blooper smacks him away.
Luigi: Not bad.
Mario: Same to you. All right, BITE!
Unagi goes fast toward Electro Blooper.
Luigi: Thunder shock!
Electro Blooper shoots out a weak bolt
of electricity. It hits Unagi, who suffers severely. He goes to the ground,
but gets back up, fast.
Luigi: Ah, I see your Unagi has a lot
of fighting spirit in it.
Mario: Yup, and he even knows rain
dance!
Rain starts falling. Unagi charges
toward Electro Blooper at fast speeds, and attacks with bite.
Luigi: Ah, the swift swim ability.
Raises speed. But, there is also another effect rain dance has on a certain
move.
Mario: Yup. Powers up water moves.
WATER PULSE!
Luigi: Yes, but there is also another.
THUNDER!
Electro Blooper sends out a powerful
bolt of lightning at Unagi, who gets shocked and knocked out.
Luigi: Rain dance makes it so thunder
will always hit, no matter how low his accuracy is or if the opponent used
double team. Overall, thunder is very devastating.
Mario and Luigi call back their minionmon,
and shake hands.
Mario: Good battle, Bro.
Luigi: You too. So, I guess you came
here to go up against the gym leader.
Mario: Yup.
Luigi: I already beat the gym. But,
I dropped my guide book back there, and I need to get it back.
Mario: Oh, well, you want to watch
my gym match?
Luigi: Sure. I'd like to see you in
real action.
Toad: Yeah, me too!
Mario: All right. Let’s-a go!
They head for Dry Dry Desert and search
for Dry Dry Ruins.
Chapter 10: Tutankoopa, The Psychic
Master
The team is seen in Dry Dry Desert,
and are having a hard time dealing with the heat. Eventually they come
across the oasis. They all jump into the water to cool off, and have some
lemons and limes. They eventually are cooled down and filled up. They continue
the search for Dry Dry Ruins. Luigi then remembers the path that leads
to the ruins. Everyone follows Luigi, and they make it there.
Mario: Thanks, Luigi.
Luigi: No problem. But, you have to
climb down to the bottom level.
Mario: Figures.
They start climbing down, but as they
reach the middle, they run into...
Mario: A Dry Bones!
Luigi: Strange, I didn't see one when
we came in here. Did you, Toad?
Toad: I actually think I saw one sleeping
in the corner while we were looking for the gym leader.
Mario: I'm going to catch it. Go, Blargg!
Use flame stone!
Blargg sends out a flaming stone at
Dry Bones, who quickly dodges the attack and comes at Blargg with a shade
smack.
Mario: Okay, flame!
Blargg is too scared to attack.
Kooper: Shade smack is a move that
can cause flinching sometimes.
Dry Bones charges at Blargg again,
this time with bone club. He hits Blargg and knocks him into the wall.
Mario: Dragon breath!
Blargg fires dragon breath, and hits
and paralyzes Dry Bones.
Mario: Go minionball!
He throws it at Dry Bones. One. Two.
Three. CATCH!
Mario: I caught Dry Bones!
Toad: You know, Dry Bones is a ghost/ground
type.
Mario: Sweet! Then that means...
Mario takes the TM for sand blast out,
puts it on the minionball, and it absorbs it. Thus, Dry Bones has learned
Sand Blast.
Yoshi: Come on, let’s keep moving.
They continue, and make it to the bottom
in no time with Luigi's help. Then, Tutankoopa appears in front of them.
Tutankoopa: Ah, hello Mario. I've been
expecting you.
Mario: Are you psychic?!
Tutankoopa: No, I just figured that
since Luigi had come to challenge me, you'd come eventually. Oh, by the
way Luigi, you dropped this on the way out.
He hands him his guide book.
Luigi: Thanks.
Tutankoopa: You're welcome. Now, Mario,
I guess you want a battle, right?
Mario: Yes.
Tutankoopa: I thought so. You'll be
dealing with psyhics now, Mario!
Mario: Interesting.
Mario and Tutankoopa go on either sides
of the room.
Tutuankoopa: This shall be three on
three.
Mario: Got it!
GYM BATTLE #4: Tutankoopa.
Tutankoopa throws his minionball, and
out pops a blue-robed creature known as Shaman, while Mario calls out Blargg.
Tutankoopa: Ah, Blargg. Started with
Podoboo, I see. But, it doesn't matter because Blargg will be going down.
Shaman, use lightning orb!
Shaman forms an orb of lightning and
launches it at Blargg, who is hit and gets electrified. Blargg quickly
gets up and uses dragon breath. Shaman jumps out of the way with fast speeds.
Tutankoopa: Yes, my Shaman is very
fast. Although, all psychic types are fast. There are only a select few
that are not very fast. Unfortunately for you, I chose the fast one. DIAMOND
SAW!
(When you try to imagine it, think
of how it looks in SMRPG.) Shaman launches two chainsaws with an icy effect.
They hit Blargg and launch him into a wall.
Mario: Yikes. Psychics are tough. But
that's not going to stop us. Flame stone!
Blargg fire off a large stone, but
Shaman dodges and appears behind Blargg.
Tutankoopa: Hehehe. Let's show them
your psycho cut!
Shaman waves his arm through the air,
and a slash of psychic energy heads for Blargg, who is knocked to the ground.
Mario: I need to think of something
fast, or Blargg is finished. Wait...
Mario has a flashback showing YE Podoboo
using nitro charge.
Mario: Maybe...
Tutankoopa: Time to finish this! Shaman,
use PSYCHO BOMB!
Shaman forms a large ball of psychic
energy. He launches it at Blargg.
Mario: NITRO CHARGE!
Blargg releases fire off of him and
dodges the attack with fast speeds. Shaman's psycho bomb causes a huge
explosion of psychic energy.
Kooper and Yoshi: O_O
Luigi and Toad: O_O
Tutankoopa: GRRRRRRRRRRR!
Blargg is behind Shaman and he releases
dragon breath, which knocks Shaman out.
Tutankoopa: HUH?! HOW?! Well... no
matter. Shaman was just the beginning. Go Y Magikoopa!
Tutankoopa sends out a Yellow Magikoopa.
Mario: Flame stone!
Tutankoopa: Light screen!
Y Magikoopa creates a magical shield
that cuts down flame stone's power.
Tutankoopa: Now wand beam!
Y Magikoopa shoots a magical blast
from his wand that hits Blargg, knocking him out.
Mario: Uh oh. I think I'll choose Unagi!
Mario releases his eel.
Mario: Bite!
Unagi charges at Y Magikoopa and bites
hard, causing a large amount of damage.
Tutankoopa: Humph! Dark moves are strong
against psychic attacks. Y Magikoopa, confuse ray!
Y Magikoopa shoots out a beam that
hits Unagi, confusing him.
Mario: Water pulse!
Unagi uses rain dance instead of water
pulse.
Mario: ... Or rain dance. That works
too.
Tutankoopa: Hehe. All according to
plan. All right Y Magikoopa, wand beam!
Y Magikoopa fires a beam at Unagi,
who gets hit into a wall, but gets up, still confused.
Tutankoopa: GRRRRRRRRRRRR! This battle
is becoming annoying! Y Magikoopa! Show him why you are yellow! SHOW THEM
YOUR LIGHTNING SPELL!
Y Magikoopa swings his wand around
and shoots a yellow beam at Unagi. Unagi is zapped and knocked out. Mario
stands with his mouth hanging open.
Tutankoopa: Hehehe. Each Magikoopa
has a spell that matches the color of their robe. Yellow is electric, Blue
is water, Green is grass, and Red is fire. Now, choose your last minionmon
so I can finish this!
Mario calls Unagi back and throws his
ball, calling out...
Tutankoopa: Oh NO!
Mario has called out Dry Bones.
Tutankoopa: That thing has been causing
trouble to my gym for a long time! I can't believe you managed to catch
him. You might be at an advantage, but I'll still win. Y Magikoopa, confuse
ray!
Y Magikoopa sends another beam, but
Mario is prepared.
Mario: Dodge, then sand blast!
Dry Bones dodges with ease, and then
summons a giant sand block. He launches it at Y Magikoopa, who is hit with
a blast of sand, which lowers his accuracy.
Tutankoopa: NO!
Mario: Shade smack!
Dry Bones rushes in, his palm giving
off a shadowy aura, and smacks Y Magikoopa right in the face, knocking
him out.
Tutankoopa: *sigh* Well, well, well.
I guess you've forced this, Mario. This minionmon is my best one and has
been with me for my whole life. Time to end this... DARK WIZZERD!
He throws his ball and out pops a purple
machine.
Kooper: Dark Wizzerd is the beginning
stage of the Wizzerd family, right?
Yoshi: Yup, and believe it or not,
other than Dark Wizzerd, all the others are just pure psychics: no steel
attribute.
Toad: But Dark Wizzerd is psychic/dark,
right?
Yoshi: Yup. Its only weakness is bug,
which Mario lacks. And, ghost moves do normal damage since he has the dark
type attributes. Mario's going to have to give it everything he's got to
win this.
Mario: Okay Dry Bones, let's try bone
club!
Dry Bones takes out a bone and charges
toward the DW. But it lifts into the air and dodges the attack.
Tutankoopa: Energy beam!
DW forms a ball of green energy, and
a beam is fired from it, which hits Dry Bones, knocking him into the wall.
Tutankoopa: Now MULTIPLY!
DW glows, and gives off a flash of
light. Then, when the light fades, four DWs are seen.
Mario: Uh oh.
Tutankoopa: Now, give that Dry Bones
a taste of your ice punch!
The four DWs gain icy fists, and punch
Dry Bones with a freezing punch.
Toad: Wait, I thought psychics are
terrible at physical attack power.
Yoshi: The Wizzerd family makes an
exception. They store a lot of power within them, making their physical
and special attack power very powerful. And, along with their good defensive
stats, they are pretty hard to beat.
Dry Bones is seen panting after being
slaughtered with a quad ice punch. Tutakoopa laughs.
Tutankoopa: This is the end. PSYBEAM!
Mario tries to figure out a move, then,
it hits him.
Mario: Jump, then bonemerang!
Dry Bones jumps and throws a curved
shape bone at one of the DWs. It ends up being a fake. But, the bone curves
and eliminates the other three, causing the real one to...
Mario: HUH?!
Mario looks around and finds out that
the real DW is nowhere to be seen. Tutankoopa laughs.
Tutankoopa: I told you not to mess
with me! DW, reveal yourself and finish this with psycho bomb!
Mario looks around, but cannot find
it. He then looks up and sees that the real DW had been floating above
them this whole time. DW releases the bomb of psychic energy, and it explodes
on Dry Bones, who gets KO’d. Mario falls to his knees. Luigi, Toad, Kooper,
and Yoshi all gasp.
Tutankoopa: It's too bad you lost.
I thought you were really good. Tell you what, how about we have a rematch
tomorrow, one on one.
Mario tries to show a smile, but fails.
He calls back Dry Bones, and he and the others leave the pyramid.
Chapter 11: Tommy G. Koopa and Yoesh,
the Tag Battle Masters
Author's Note: You will be seeing some
characters not created by me. I talked it over with the author, and he
gave me permission to use them in this FF. So, enjoy.
Mario and Co. are seen in the Oasis,
relaxing. But Mario is seen with his Blargg, Paratroopa, Unagi, and Dry
Bones out.
Luigi: Wow, Mario seems really depressed
about losing to Tutankoopa.
Kooper: Yeah. I wonder who he's going
to use against Tutankoopa next time. We know he is definitely going
to use DW, but who will Mario use.
As they are discussing a way to help
Mario, meanwhile his minionmon are seen trying to cheer him up. Then, from
the distance, we see a Koopa and a Yoshi. The Koopa has a light blue shell
and light blue headband. The Yoshi is black and has golden yellow hair.
The style of the hair looks like Sonic. They approach the Oasis, but go
toward Mario. Mario looks up and sees them.
Mario: Can I help you?
The Koopa speaks.
Koopa: Yes you can. My name is Tommy
G. Koopa, but people call me Blue Koopa Bro. because I look like a Koopa
Bro, or Blue for short.
Yoshi: And I'm Yoesh. I've been hanging
around this dude for a long time.
Mario: I see. Well, my name is Mario
and...
Blue: Yeah, we know who you are. Although,
how could we not?
Yoesh: Yeah. You are awesome! Saving
Peach from Bowser all the time must be a real hassle.
Mario: It is, but, it's what I do.
Blue: You seem troubled.
Mario: Well, I had a minionmon battle
with Tutankoopa for a gym badge, but lost.
Yoesh: Yeah. Tutankoopa is one tough
gym leader. You know, we might be able to help you out.
Mario: How?
Blue: You can have a double battle
with us, and we can help you figure out some combos.
Mario: Wow, thanks. Here, let me introduce
you to my friends.
Mario goes over to introduce them,
and tells them about a double battle.
Kooper: I'll help you out, Mario.
Mario: Really?
Kooper: Yeah. I've been meaning to
test out someone I recently caught on my adventures with Kolorado.
Blue: All right then, we have a double
battle.
Mario and Kooper go on one side, and
Blue and Yoesh go on the other.
Blue: This is going to be a one on
one. Each of us can only use one minionmon. Ready?
Mario: Yup!
Kooper: Yeah!
Yoesh: All right, lets go!
Mario calls out Dry Bones and Kooper
calls out a White Clubba, only found in Crystal Palace. Blue throws his
ball and out pops an orange Boo with a black blindfold, and Yoshi calls
out...
Yoesh: Tap-Tap the Red Nose!
We see a giant spiked ball with legs,
eyes, and a giant red nose. He also has a big smile on his face.
Mario: Tap... Tap?
Yoesh: This guy is only found...
Yoshi: On Yoshi's Island.
Blue: And this is my man, Boo Man Bluff.
But, I gave him a nickname.
Kooper: Which is...?
Blue: Peekaboo.
Mario and Co.: ...
Blue: Right. Anyway, since we're such
nice guys, we'll let you make the first move.
Mario: Thanks. Dry Bones, shade smack
Peekaboo!
Dry Bones charges toward Peekaboo with
a shadowy palm. But, Tap-Tap jumps in front and blocks the hit, causing
Dry Bones' hand to give off great pain.
Yoesh: Blue's Peekaboo has pretty weak
defense, so, when we double battle, we use our dream combo: Peekaboo and
Tap-Tap.
Mario: Grrrr.
Blue: All right, Peekaboo, side swipe!
Peekaboo does nothing.
Kooper: Right... White Clubba, multiwack
that Tap-Tap!
White Clubba charges at Tap-Tap, but
Peekaboo hears footsteps. He disappears, and reappears in front of WC,
and side swipes him with his tongue, knocking WC down.
Kooper: But how?! He's blind!
Blue: Yes, yes he is. But, his hearing
and speed are increased because of that! Not only that, his attack power
gets a small increase.
Kooper gulps.
Yoesh: Tap-Tap, defense curl!
Tap-Tap curls up and raises his defense.
Mario: Sand blast!
Dry Bones makes a block of sand, and
launches it at both Tap-Tap and Peekaboo. Peekaboo hears the sand block
heading his way and dodges with ease. Tap-Tap gets hit, and his accuracy
is lowered.
Kooper: Ice beam!
WC fires a beam of ice at Peekaboo,
and guess what. He dodges at the sound of it.
Yoesh: I'd say it's about time I finished
this. Rollout!
Tap-Tap curls up again, and rolls at
high speeds toward White Clubba and Dry Bones. They are knocked into the
air, and get knocked out when they hit the ground.
Mario: Mamamia!
Kooper: Oh my lord!
Yoesh and Blue call back Peekaboo and
Tap-Tap. Mario and Koopa call their minionmon back, and Blue and Yoesh
approach Mario.
Yoesh: I think I see your battle style.
You like to go all out and try to finish it as fast as possible.
Blue: Let me ask you something. Are
planning on using Dry Bones in your rematch with Tutankoopa?
Mario nods, and Yoesh and Blue look
at each other and nod.
Both: Bone Block.
Mario: Huh?
Blue: Bone block is a move that only
Dry and Dark Bones can use. They form a shield of bones that protects them
from all types off attacks.
Yoesh: Yeah. And, if you use sand blast,
follow up with shade smack while the opponent is trying to figure out what
to do next.
Mario: Thanks.
Blue: Would it be all right if Yoesh
and I watch your rematch with Tutankoopa?
Mario: I wouldn't mind one bit.
Blue and Yoesh smile. Then, they head
back to Dry Dry Ruins for some rest before Mario's upcoming rematch.
To Be Continued...
