It was a cool summer's evening in the Mushroom Kingdom. It was also Peach’s birthday. Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, and Yoshi’s friends all went to the castle to celebrate. When they got there, they saw Peach and Daisy arguing.

“Stop arguing!” Mario said. “What’s the matter?”

“Peach got a present that I wanted!” Daisy said. “And she didn’t even ask for it!”

“So?” Mario said.

“So, it’s not fair!” she replied. “I’m gonna get you for this, Peach!”

She then stormed off, muttering to herself as she went.

Later, the party started to get going, but Daisy was still in her room. Then, all of the lights suddenly went out. “Bwa ha ha ha ha ha ha!” It was Bowser’s voice.

Mario saw seven little figures climb in through a window by the light of the moon. As it was dark, he couldn’t tell who they were. He turned around and saw two Koopalings who loved food arguing over a slab of chocolate. “I saw it first!” It was a male voice.

“No you didn’t.” This was a female.

Mario looked to the window again to see more little monsters coming in. But a big fish caught Mario’s eye. It was bouncing all over the place. 'That’s Big Bertha,' Mario thought.

Big Bertha bounced to the Koopaling who loved it. Mario ran up to Big Bertha and kicked it out of the castle through a window. “Hey!” said the Koopaling who it was near. That Koopaling got angry, as they liked Big Bertha. They pushed Mario onto a table full of food. “Riot, riot!” the Koopaling shouted. All of the other Koopalings started to run around the room, jumping from table to table. The first one did as well, but there was one Koopaling who couldn’t jump so they sat down next to Bowser.

The other Koopalings started picking up the food as they ran. They gave it to the various enemies on the floor, who threw it at all of the people, the furniture, and the decorations. Then, another Koopaling stepped down from the tables because they were exhausted and unfit.

The Koopalings started to speed up, as there were less of them. Another Koopaling then realized that a Koopaling he liked wasn’t running, so he stepped down and joined Bowser.

King Toadstool was really scared now so he ran out of the castle before Bowser noticed him. So did everybody else except Mario, Luigi, and Peach.

Then another Koopaling stepped down, because he was bored. He then saw the enemies on the floor and joined them, because he loved hurting people.

The Koopalings started to speed up, making it harder for Mario to see them. One more Koopaling felt an urge for something they really loved doing. They stepped down, but then realized they couldn’t do it in the castle or they’d wreck Bowser’s plan, so they went outside.

Just two Koopalings left, they had a lot of work to do. They picked up the pace, making it harder still for Mario to see them. Then, one of the Koopalings noticed that what they had been arguing over earlier was now unguarded. They quickly stepped down, ran to it, and put it in their pocket.

One Koopaling left, and it looked like they were never going to stop. Mario and Luigi were watching this Koopaling. Peach was hiding in a corner. “Such talent,” Mario said. It was like he was hypnotised.

“Now’s my chance,” Bowser whispered. With the Mario Bros. in a trance, he had no problem walking over to Peach, grabbing her, and getting away.
