1-Up Mushroom: Gives Mario one extra life.
3-Up Moon: Gives Mario three extra lives.
? Block: Always contains an item.
? Orb: Mario must touch this to escape from the sunken ghost ship. Submitted by Jazzman.
! Block: They come in four colors, yellow, green, red, and blue. When you start the game they are visible but not actually there, and Mario will go right through them. Hit a ! Switch to turn all the blocks of the corresponding color solid. Yellow blocks contain Super Mushrooms and green ones contain Feathers. Found by Hip.
Block Train: Jump on one of these and it will automatically move you through the air. Mario should avoid this since it's so easy to fall off. Found by Hip.
Blue Block: This looks similar to the yellow block, but Mario can pick it up and throw it at enemies. Submitted by Jazzman.
Bonus Block: Green blocks with white stars on them. You have to obtain at least 30 coins before hitting these. If you do, you get a 1-Up Mushroom! If you don't, it will only give you a single coin. Found by Yoshata.
Brick: Smashable for large Marios. Could contain items.
Coin: If Mario collects 100 of these he earns an extra life.
Coin Snake: Found in ? blocks, this is a string of coins that Mario can guide around the screen after it appears. It will continue growing until something gets in its way. Submitted by Jazzman.
Expanding Bridge: A bridge made out of five blocks, which will contract into one and expand back to five. Found by Hip.
Feather: Transforms Mario into Cape Mario. He can fly and attack with his cape.
Fire Flower: Transforms Mario into Fire Mario. He can shoot fireballs.
Green Berries: When Yoshi eats these he adds 20 seconds to the timer. Found by Green Yoshi.
Ice Block: They work like in SMB3. You can pick them up and throw them. Needed to beat the Big Boo in Donut Secret House. Chargin' Chucks can break them simply by running through them. Found by Hip.
Key: Mario can use this to unlock secret exits.
Keyhole: When the key is inserted, this will open to show Mario a new path.
Lakitu's Cloud: Sometimes, if you defeat Lakitu just the wrong way, his cloud will be left behind and you can ride around in it for a short period of time before you fall to your timely death. Submitted by Jazzman.
Mario Mask: When you beat Special World, the Koopas wear Mario Masks. Jump on a Koopa and the mask will come off. You can throw it at enemy or have Yoshi eat it. It works the some way a Koopa Shell does. Found by Mike M.
Message Box: Hit these to display a message. Who knows where this thing came from? Found by Videogamerpat.
Note Block: If Mario jumps on this, he keeps bouncing on the it. Sometimes an item will fall out of these. Found by Freezy Toad.
On/Off Block: Hitting one of these will change a line path to go a different way. Found by Videogamerpat.
P Balloon: Mario inflates and is able to float for a short period of time.
P Switch: Now moveable, this changes bricks into coins and vice versa.
Pink ? Block: Only one exists and it’s in my castle. It’s basically an on/off switch used to partially light up a dark room. Found by Hip.
Pink Berries: When Yoshi eats enough of these a cloud comes out of an egg he lays and flies to the end of the level, dropping coins all the way. Found by Green Yoshi.
Pipe: Piranha Plants inhabit these, and some can be used as warps. Found by Freezy Toad.
Pulley Platforms: Found on the Butter Bridge. These sets of platforms come in twos. When you jump on one it will slowly drop lower and lower, making the other one rise higher. Found by Green Yoshi.
Rail Lift: You can ride these platforms along a designated path. Fun! Found by Hip.
Red Berries: When Yoshi eats enough of these he lays an egg with an item in it depending on his color. Found by Green Yoshi.
Rope: Mario uses these in certain areas to get across to somewhere that is far off. Found by Freezy Toad.
Roulette Block: You hit this just like you would a ? Block. Inside, the object alternates from Mushroom, Fire Flower, Feather, and Starman. The item continues to do so even after you hit the block. Time it right to grab the power-up you want. Found by Lord Seth.
Shells: These come in red, blue, and yellow and can be thrown at enemies. The red ones give Yoshi the power of fireballs when eaten, the blue ones give him the power of flight, and the yellow ones give him the power of the ground pound. Found by Green Yoshi.
Silver P Switch: Similar to the P Switch, this one turns certain enemies into coins. Submitted by Jazzman.
Skull Raft: Jump on this ride over lava, but you must avoid obstacles such as enemies while aboard. Their first appearence is in Vanilla Dome 3. Found by Popple Koopa.
Starman: Mario becomes invincible for a short period of time.
Super Mushroom: Transforms Mario into Super Mario. He can break blocks and take an extra hit.
Switches: Coming in blue, red, green, and yellow, these will turn the respectively colored blocks solid for Mario's convenience if he can reach them.
Tape: This is found in the Goal and the Midway Gate. Break the tape in the Midway Gate to establish a continue point in case you should die thereafter in that level; you'll also become Super Mario if you were small when you hit it. The tape within the Goal moves up and down, but if you can catch up with it as you pass through that final checkpoint, you'll earn a number of bonus stars based on the height of the tape when cut. When you earn 100 bonus stars, you'll head to a bonus stage where you could win some extra lives. Found by neolink458.
Trampoline: Just like you'd think, jumping on this allows you to jump higher. You can pick it up and carry it around, just like you could with a Key. Yoshi can eat these to transport them, but swallows them if left in his mouth too long. Found by Lord Seth.
Triangle Block: These are placed in a few areas where the floor meets the wall at a 90 degree angle. If you run at one, you can contiue running up the wall. Found by Hip.
Vine: Mario can use these to climb to areas he can't jump to.
Winged Blocks: Two attached blocks with wings that Amazin' Flying Hammer Bros. ride on. Found by Hip.
Yellow Block: Large Marios can spin and break these.
Yoshi Coin: There are five on each course. If Mario finds them all, he earns an extra life.
Yoshi Egg: Breaks open to release a hungry Yoshi. Also, what Mario retrieves from each Koopaling.
Yoshi Wings: Rare as only three pairs exist. Only Yoshi can use them. If he does, he will turn into Blue Yoshi and go to a coin heaven where he can fly around as much as he wants. Found by Hip.
