Conker's Pocket Tales Review

By Misty Koopa

Console: Gameboy Color. It looks REALLY good with color, so it's for the Color, LOL.

Release Date: The summer of either 1999 or 2000, can't remember which one.

ESRB Rating: E. It's not really bad at all.

Background: Once upon a time it was Conker's birthday and his friend, Berri, threw a party for him. Then a trolley came in with a cake. Conker got excited and told Berri it looked great, but she frowned and told him it was not the cake she baked. Then it exploded and a figure came out of it, the Evil Acorn. In a flash he gathered up all the presents and the guests, including Berri, who cried for help as he left, scattering present everywhere. Conker was left all alone, his party ruined until he decided he has to be the one to save him, or let his party be ruined.

Scoring Note: All fields are judged on a scale of 10.

Graphics: 6-7

They're alright, but it's hard to see. It takes ages to figure out what some things really are, like the mushrooms. It's hard to tell they have eyes, especially on one side. I only saw that recently...
.
Music: 7

Kinda no variety. All music is the same and it plays over and over again in different levels. The only variety is the music in the first levels, but after Claw Swamp there's nothing new.

Secrets: 4 1/2

Only a few things are secret and that's it. You see most of them early in the game anyway and the manual tells you how to use the secret items. It's definitely my worst catagory ever.

Difficulty: 5

Usually I like hard games, but THIS was ridiculous. It took forever to get through the Mako Island challenges. I thought the game was broken and nearly asked my parents to get another one and to return MINE.

Replayability: 9

I didn't give anything a perfect score, but I keep going back to get all the presemts and the Invites. I haven't gotten the highest rating yet either, but I want it.

Fun Factor!: 9

It's pretty fun to play, but all the stuff I mentioned above keep the fun somewhat down. Still, I kinda liked the levels. My favorite was the desert level, it reminds me of an old mining place near to where I live. And I was there too, that's how I know.

Recommendation: Get it, I guess. It's fun and interesting. I only gave not so great ratings because all that stuff is true.
