Story: 9
The story starts over at Mario's Pad, where Princess Toadstool gets abducted by Bowser, and Mario of course runs to Bowser's Keep to save the damsel in distress. After a not-so-epic battle with Bowser seeing his millionth defeat, a sword crashes into Bowser's Keep, and seven Star Pieces fall to Plit. After the sword crashes into the Keep, Mario, Bowser, and Toadstool go flying. After talking to the Chancellor, Mario meets up with the young tadpole Mallow, and after finding two Star Pieces he is joined by a Star Spirit inside a doll, Geno. Later still Mario is joined by Bowser and Toadstool. Their quest is to find all seven Star Pieces and restore the land.
Graphics: 10
WOW! That's what I call good graphics! This is definately the best graphics the SNES has ever seen.
Music: 9
Catchy tunes along with a good variation make this game have very good music. My favorites are the battle tunes.
Characters: 7
More characters than most Mario games, but not a lot of people join you compared to other RPGs. As usual, here's a rundown on the main characters.
Mario: Mario's back in what is his first ever (I think) 3D game. Mario has some neat fire and jumping attacks. Strangely, Mario doesn't speak a word in the whole game (ala Link and Crono).
Mallow: The young tadpole who looks nothing like a tadpole is the first person to join you. Mallow's a bit of a cry baby who wonders who and where his parents are.
Geno: Geno is a Star Spirit from Star Road who takes the form of a doll to get back the seven Star Pieces and restore peace, tranquility, and most of all, wishes to Plit.
Bowser: WHAT'S THIS?! Bowser's actually a good guy? Yup, Bowser "lets Mario and co. join the Koopa Troop" when all his men get taken away.
Princess Toadstool: The princess CAN fight, and she proves it here. She joins Mario after certain wedding plans are ruined.
Items: 8
There's a lot of items, but not as many as in most RPGs
Gameplay: 9
The outside gameplay's great because you're more free to move around than in other games, and inside battle the timed hits make sure you don't snooze, not to mention that loads of mini games will keep you entertained.
Lifespan: 8
This isn't as long as most RPGs, which is probably a good thing as it gives people new to RPGs an easier game. Experienced gamers will enjoy playing the game over and over again.
Replayability: 4
There isn't much to come back to, but mark my words, you'll come back.
Fun Factor!: 9
The game is much more fun than most RPGs, and the good graphics will make you enjoy things even more.
Recomendation: A hard-to-find game now, but get a chance to play it and you're in for a treat!
