Yoshi's Story Review

By Misty Koopa

Scoring Note: This game is graded on a scale of 10.

Graphics: 9

Ok, these are pretty good graphics. They are unique, the sky looks like denim, the sea is embroiderd, the ocean floor and ground are card board, and the snow looks like pillow cases. The characters ARE 3D, like everything else, but it almost gives a pre-Cube graphics look in a way. I didn't quite give this a perfect score because it could've been slightly better.

Music: 7

Most of the tunes are remixes. It's hard to tell, unlike Conker's Pocket Tales, but its true. I DID like some of the music, like the rap music and the super happy theme which, in some cases, sounds kinda like rock.

Levels: 7

There are four levels per page, and there are six pages. That's twenty-four levels all together, and on every page you pick one of the four. The levels you can choose from depends on how many big Hearts you find in the previous level. There are three in every level. The scale goes:

0 Hearts: 1 level
1 Heart: 2 levels
2 Hearts: 3 levels
3 Hearts: 4 levels

It seems hard to get all three, yes, but it CAN be done.

Secrets: 8

The score would've been 2 except it got raised by 3 for the biggest secrets (two of 'em, they're found on pages two and three), having to earn the levels by finding Hearts is another points by itself, and the fruit is 4 more points. I have yet to find someone who has found the secret fruit yet. I just know it exists and know how to get it, but I haven't gotten it quite yet...

Difficulty: 7

It's hard, but not hard enough. I can get to page six in a few hours and it's done. The only thing keeping this score from being a 3 or something is that often the level fours are hard, but it's not uncommon for the other levels to be hard as well.

Replayability: 9

You'll definitely wanna keep coming back. There are 100s of combinations to choose from to make the story, and the secrets are definitely worth finding, especially the big one.

Fun Factor!: 7

This IS a pretty fun game. It might've been better with Kamek, but the levels themselves are unique and interesting, and the names totally discribe them and their possible difficulty.

Recommendation: Get this while you can IF you can. From what I've heard it's hard these days to get a N64 game.
