Alright, a Dragon Ball Z Game! As soon as I heard this game was coming out I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. Being a HUGE Dragon Ball Z fan, I thought I'd review this game. I'm scoring this on a scale of 1-7 for the number of Dragon Balls.
Graphics: 7
Wow, love the graphics for this game. Still can't believe this game is for the Gameboy Advance. Just excellent. Love the scenes from the Anime.
Sound: 3
I'll admit it, the sound in this game isn't that great. The background music is repetitive and uncatchy, and Goku's dieing scream sounds like a screaching cat. The only reason this area got a score of 3 is because I kinda like the intro theme and ya just gotta love Goku's KAMEHAMEHA!
Originality: 2
Ok, maybe this isn't quite a fair area to judge this game on, since the game is based on a TV show, but I'm talking about the terrain and the enemies. Now the enemies are very limited; besides big bad guys there are wolves, a dinosaur, a teridactyl, and Freeza's henchmen. THATS ALL! And the terrain, while it's ok, it's still limited. All I can say is, could've done so much beter.
Length: 1
I gotta tell ya, this game is short. I beat it in seven hours. I could have beat it a lot quicker but I was stuck in the stupid Namek Temple for hours upon end.
Secrets: 1
I love a game with secrets, but this game's got none. No hidden features, no secret powers, no nothing.
Controls: 7
The controls are very straightfoward. D-pad to move, B to charge up beam (I think), A to punch. R to fly, and L to switch attacks. I wish they would have given some sort of tutorial though because it took me a while to even figure out that you could fly!
Difficulty: 7
This game was strange in this category. The enemies were so powerful that you kinda had to do a hit and run with most of em like fifteen times just to kill one of them. I thought it got a little tedious after a while. They were just to powerful.
Gameplay: 2
The gameplay was alright, but like I said, the way you are almost forced to attack is via a tedious hit and run type thing. For example, to beat most big bad guys, I had to use a solar flare, run up and punch him, run away from the enemy, stand still and wait for my energy to recharge, and then do it again. VERY BORING.
Fun Factor!: 2
This game wasn't really fun. As a matter of fact, it was actually kind of tedious.
Overall: 1
I hate to say this as a loyal DBZ fan but this game was horrible! I'm so disappointed. I wish it was better. I'll have to wait for the GameCube DBZ game.
Recommendation: Get it if you want, but I wouldn't recommend it. At best it's rentable, if even.
