Rhino Rumble Review

By Arim

Rhino Rumble is a platformer game for the Game Boy Color that was released in 2002. As always, it works for the GBA too, and the wider screen is better, unlike some people who think otherwise.

This game is rated E for everyone with some comic mischief. Really though, I don't see any mischief in this game. I'll review on a scale of 1 to 10. 1 is nightmarish, 10 is excellent.

Story: 3

Ok, this has got to be the lamest story I've ever heard. Well, maybe not. Anyway, the hero, Rhino, ate too many peppers and now must embark on a quest to find the magical waterfall to quench his thirst. That's it. Maybe I could think of a lamer story, but it would be too hard.

Graphics: 8 1/2

The graphics are very well done for a GBC game. Let's see, what else can I add? I think they were good because it came out at the end of  the GBC's life. No wait, the GBC is already dead. Let's face it, the GBC is dead! Bottom of the scrap pile! No- wait, I'll just shut up.

Sound: 5

I don't remember ever hearing a sound effect. The music is okay for the GBC, but I think the levels had only remixes of the same music. Maybe there were a couple of different tunes, but don't quote me on that.

Characters: 6 1/2

You can only use Rhino, but hey, I'm not complaining about that. Anyway, the enemies are very uninteresting
to say the least.

Length: 2

I hate to give these low scores, really, but I have to be honest. This is one of those games that you can easily beat in seven to ten hours.

Secret: 3

The only secrets are some fruit that you can easily collect in all the levels for a secret shooting game or something.

Difficulty: 4

Not at all difficult. You can get hit four times before losing and having to try the level again, and it's really easy to kill the enemies because you have unlimited flame breath. That means you can just press the A button consecutively to shoot fire, killing everything in your path.

Controls: 9

Very good controls. Very simple and responsive. Enough said.

Replayability: 4

The only replay value is those fruit you can gather. Once that happens, it's back of the shelf for poor Rhino. You probably won't play ever again.

Fun Factor!: 7 1/2

Don't get me wrong with all those low scores. The game IS fun. Well, if you have nothing better to do anyway.

Overall: 4 1/2

This is the kind of game you play when waiting for the train, or plane, or something along those lines. Although the game isn't completely horrible, and it does provide fun, I wouldn't recommend buying it, nor
even renting it. It's just not worth it.
