Pokemon Gold

By Terry

System: Gameboy Color

This is scored on a scale of 10, 10 being best.

Graphics: 8

The graphics are much better in Pokemon Gold than in Red/Blue/Yellow. The graphics change at night to a black background, making it more realistic. The characters look more realistic than in Red/Blue/Yellow.

Sound: 7

The new music and sounds are quite cool. The music in Kanto is the same in Kanto as before but has been updated. When you battle a Pokemon in Johto at night the music sounds suitable for night while it's different when you battle in the day.

Characters: 9

There are a bunch of new characters including Professor Elm, Kurt, and your new rival. Old favorites come back such as Professor Oak and Lance. Ash and Gary are in it but are called Red and Blue. The trainers you battle now have names. There are 100 new Pokemon as well. Some of the old Pokemon from Red/Blue/Yellow can evolve even further or have pre-evolutions

Lastability: 8

This game should last quite a while because you have to battle in Johto and Kanto to become a Pokemon Master. Some Pokemon such as Raikou, Entei, and Suicune are so rare that they are one of a kind. It could be almost impossible to complete the Pokedex because Mew STILL won't be in this game and neither will Celebi.

Good Things

+ 100 new Pokemon
+ New characters
+ You can have rematches with some trainers
+ You can breed evolved Pokemon to their basic form over and over again.

Bad Things

- Mew and Celebi do not appear in this game
- The real-time function forces you to play at certain times of the day, making it quite awkward at times
- Other Pokemon such as Mewtwo, Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Charmander cannot be found at all in this game
