Graphics: ***** (5/5)
For an RPG game, it has terrific graphics, especially the battle graphics, and unlike a lot of 3D games, nothing disturbs your vision. When it is your foe's turn to attack, the screen switches to about where your own team was, so you get the full perspective of what's happening.
Sound: **** (4/5)
This game has great music and sound effects, but when characters talk the sound is just a short beep-type noise. But still, for every action there is a noise, accept for maybe walking and running. My favorite music is the forest and desert themes, but every piece of sound has its own "personality" you could say, every sound has its place in the game.
Difficulty: ****1/2 (4 1/2 /5)
This game is difficult yet still fun, but when you're up for a true challenge, go to Crossbone Island and try to face its boss. Deadbeard is more powerful than the final boss of this game! Every difficulty level has its place, there is only one place in the game where the difficulty is unfair, but it doesn't matter as you're SUPPOSED to lose that fight; you will beat those people when the game get to its close. This game isn't all difficulty, it is fun, and that is what I look for in a game.
Controls: ***** (5/5)
The controls are simple and understandable,
it took me about five seconds to learn them, but it is for the GBA (or
GBASP, whatever you have) so the controls would be easy, right? The controls
are:
Arrow Keys: move, choose command.
A: bring up menu, accept command.
B: run, decline command.
Start: brings up pause menu.
L and R: Psynergy shortcuts.
Battle: ***** (5/5)
One of the main things you do in the
game, like all RPG games, is battle. I just have to say, it's fun. The
music is great, it has a grand variety of monsters to fight, and the graphics
are great too. Also durring the game there are powers that you use to defeat
your foes: Psynergy. This is a special power that the characters can use,
instead of just attacking. I would list them, but there are WAY to many,
When you use them it is so neat. Also, as the game progreses you collect
the elemental Djiin. Djiin are little creaturs that represent Mars (fire),
Venus (earth), Mercury (water), and Jupiter (wind). Each Djiin has different
powers, either attacking, raising an ability, replenishing HP, or even
reviving an ally. Once you have used a certain amount of Djiin in battle,
you can use Summons. Summons are more powerful attacks, and they are as
follows, from weakest to strongest by element:
Venus, Ramses, Cybele, Jugment.
Mercury: Nereid, Neptune, Boreas.
Mars: Kirin, Tiamat, Meteor.
Jupiter: Atalanta, Procne, Thor.
Battle Mode: ***** (5/5)
Another thing you can do instead of "Story Mode" is battle. You can use a game link cable and use your team to fight your "friend". Don't have a friend to battle? Then you can fight monsters and get practice. And the best (or worst, depends on how you look at it) thing about the game is that what you do in the battling area doesn't affect your game at all!
Replayability: * (1/5)
Fun game as it is, after you defeat the final boss, the game's completely over. To keep playing, you will have to start a new game (or use a code to continue on Golden Sun: The Lost Age). This game would be somewhat more fun if you could still play it after you beat the final boss, like in other games.
Fun Factor: ****1/2 (4 1\2 /5)
Simply put, this game is great. For some reason it stinks when you lose a battle, but luckily you don't have a certain number of lives, and thank goodness for that! It's really fun, exciting, and adventurous. If you want a game that is all of this together, this is the one.
Overall: ***** (5/5)
This game is terrific, it is fun and entertaining, I would recommend this game to you, and anyone else, try it, trust me, you will like it. Of all the games I have played, this is one of the greatest. If you havn't played it yet, you're missing out.
