Mario Kart: Double Dash is just what we expect from Nintendo: great fun, and highly replayable. I love playing this game with my friends on a cold, rainy night if we have nothing to do.
Console: GameCube
Publisher: Nintendo
Rating: E
Players: 1-4
Memory Usage: 3-8 Blocks
Broadband: Yes
Graphics: 8/10
The graphics in this game are amazing, with the shading effects of your kart and props, as well as the light from the sun which is shown on the karts. It just goes to show you, the GameCube has incredible graphics capabilities.
Music/Sound: 7/10
The music is a good part of the game. Many songs will just be playing over and over in your head. The music matches the environment very well, like the gloomy music in Bowser's Castle, which is a gloomy place indeed, to the theme of Waluigi Stadium, an upbeat tune. Many sound effects were reused from older video games. Nearly all of Yoshi's sound effects came from Yoshi's Story! This is what keeps this category from getting a ten.
Controls: 10/10
The controls in this game are simple to master. The Control Stick determines which direction you go in, A is for acceleration, B is to brake, Y and X use items or blow your car's horn (which is useless unless you want to annoy another human player), R and L to skid (Keep pressing left or right on the control stick while pressing L and R until it changes to blue, then let go of L and R and you'll get a small boost!), and Z switches the characters' positions. The characters automatically switch positions if both have an item and the one in back uses his. If you have problems with the controls, you might want to go back to Kindergarten!
Characters: 10/10
There is a huge selection of racers, including four hidden characters. You can also unlock a special car for half of all the characters, which means you can have Luigi use his own car, as well as one car that has great stats and can be used by all characters despite their weight. I'm not going to spoil it for you; go and play for yourself and unlock everything if you want to know who's in the game!
Difficulty: 6/10
It's kinda easy playing against computer players, no matter if you pick 50 CC, 100 CC, or even 150 CC! If you want to have some real fun against PEOPLE who use good strategies, pick some of your most skilled video gaming friends and have a tournament together!
Fun Factor!: 9/10
It's truly an exciting game, full of action and excitement, especially if you get together with some of your friends and play together.
Replayability: 10/10
This game has unlimited replayability. You can always go back to Time Trial mode see if you can best your times, or you can always pair up two difficult-to-master characters and karts if you want to have a challenging match. I think this is the game's best area!
Overall: 8/10
You should buy this game, especially if you like multiplayer action!
