Well basically, this is my Review of PM:TTYD. A perfect 10 is a Superstar, 9.5 to 8.0 it a A-List, 7.5 - 5.0 is a B-List, and 4.5 and below is a Rising Star.
Players: 1
System: GameCube
Genre: RPG
Created by Intelligent Systems
Story: 8.5/10; Rank A-List
Well, pretty common: Peach being kidnapped,
Mario coming to save her, yada yada. However, now Mario has to battle a
new force: the X-Nauts. Mario not only must rescue Peach but must recover
the seven Crystal Stars, rescue Peach, and close the Thousand-Year Door!
How cool is that?
Characters: 10/10; Rank Superstar
This is definitely the Jackpot. Mario, Goombella, Koops, Flurrie, Yoshi, Vivian, Bobbery, and Ms. Mowz come to a total of eight playable characters. Along with Luigi, his party members, and Peach, many interesting characters are first introduced in this game.
Goombella: 7.5; Rank B-List
Meh. Weak but useful for getting info
on enemies.
Koops: 9.5; Rank A-List
Useful for hitting anything from a
distance. You can hold his shell in one place and release it at will.
Flurrie: 6.0; Rank B-List
Not that bad. The Field Move was kinda
boring. I hoped for something more exciting.
Yoshi Kid: 8.0; Rank A-list
Allows you to flutter and name him!
I have one question: How does he carry Mario's fat?!
Vivian: 9.0; Rank A-List
Pretty cool. Allows you to disappear
in the shadows.
Bobbery: 10; Rank Superstar
A favorite character of mine. While
blowing up walls, charring enemies, and fighting, this Bob-omb sailor gives
us more than we want.
Ms. Mowz: 9.5 Rank A-List
Hey, not so bad. Her Love Slap pierces
Enemies defense which no Partner can do and sneak out treasure! Oops. I
drooled on myself.
Mario: 10 Rank; Superstar
Whaddaya think? The main character
of the game! The big cheese! How can we not like him?
Battle Sequence: 10; Rank Superstar
Excellent battles! The audience cheers for you and jeers at the enemies! However if you, you know... mess up, the tables are turned on you. Higher ranks means more audence and a better stage! Be wary though: The higher rank you are, the more the audience expects from you. So if you are at maximum rank and you accidently stomp on a spiked enemy without Spike Shield, don't come crying to me if you lose nine audience members!
Items: 9.5; Rank A-List
Great items. Although, it may be a little TOO tough to find some items. Maybe if they added some items from PM1, it would be great!
Areas: 3.5; Rank Rising Star
Not too bad. The areas were cool but maybe a little over-detailed. The rivers are what brought this down. Nibbles always bite you when you fall in and there are no invisible barriers protecting you. If Intelligent Systems didn't add Nibbles, it would have gotten a 8.5.
Music: 9.5; Rank A-List Star
Great music! The Doopliss Battle, Normal Battle, and the Cortez Battle are what really got my sense of music.
Controls: 7.5; Rank B-List Star
The controls were too easy to master for me, but nonetheless, there are lots of things you can do.
Humor: 10; Rank Superstar
Luigi's story, Ms. Mowz, Vivian, Goombella and Flurrie kissing Mario when they joined his party, and Ms. Mowz having a crush on Mario made me nearly fall down while laughing myself into a coma.
Replayability: 4.5; Rank Rising Star
Sadly, this game doesn't have very much replayability. What really got me down was what the treasure turned out to be. I was expecting an orb, amulet, artifact, or rare badge. Still, it was cool.
Overall: 10; Rank Superstar
Hey, you'd better get this game or
the consequences will be dire! You'll be missing out on a load of fun!
What could be better then seeing Morton being shut up? A full Mario RPG
adventure! Hope you enjoy the game as much as I did!
