HULK Review

By Trollish Beastfighter

Here is my second Review! Anyhow, I won't go through the story on how I got this game, but I thought it was good, and I will explain the ratings here.

System: GameCube, PS2, XBox
Rating: T for violence mainly, but no blood. YAY!

I will rate the game on a system of 10 because I say so! I only played the GameCube version because I HATE MICROSOFT AND SONY VIDEO GAMES!

Story: 10

Bruce Banner has always been fighting his "anger problems". After waking up from another so-called nightmare, he asks some friend and teacher Professor Crawford (I think that is who he is) for help. Crawford tries to steal Bruce's curse with his Gamma Orb. He takes some of it and abuses it to become another mutant Ravage. Naturally, this makes Bruce ANGRY! Evidently, the Orb didn't succeed in taking all power away from Bruce, so it is up to you as Bruce and the HULK to bash and technically hack your way to get the Orb and destroy it. The story is good, and there is really nice cinema to go with it.

Graphics: 10

They don't look perfect, but I think this is as good as it will get when you animate something like this. The graphics (although I care little about graphics) are amazing! They tie in nice gamma green and red colors that stream behind you and enemies when you and other mutants use attacks. The dust also flies differently from smashed doors depending how you smashed it. The HULK cracks the ground with attacks, and the sound goes perfectly with the movements. The cinematic scenes look slightly off in color or something, but they are still decently good, and they show interesting storyline effect. Eric Bana still does Bruce in this game, a nice effect. Since I like this cheat so much, if you play the game, get to Alcatraz as Bruce, find a cheat computer, type in JANITOR, and turn the cheat on. It makes the HULK say totally funny things.

Controls: 7

The HULK has near perfect controls. The camera (L) and auto aiming system (by pressing R and using the C-stick) can get annoying at times such as when trying to hit a helicopter or if you need to look a certain direction, yeah... annoying, but HULK SMASH!!! YAY! You get really agitated and excited playing this game beating up the prejudiced bad guys in a good way! Goes with the game, ya know. The real point penalty was for Bruce. His levels, although fewer, MAKE ME ANGRY! Bruce has only two attacks, punching (B for both), and a lousy grab move. He can kill instantly if you press X behind someone's back, but that doesn't help when you are spotted by a guy with a rifle. It says in the manual Bruce can use weapons, but I never found any.

Let me explain how the game works more in depth now. B is to punch for both playable characters. A is to jump/crouch and roll, and X is to grab as both. Y is Sonic Clap by itself, and is used in combos, and Y also lets you use computers as Bruce. R is to target, L is first person view, C-stick is change target, and the control stick, DUH, is to move.

Difficulty: 10 (rated for hardness)

There is an easy and hard mode here. In the middle mode, it took me several tries to beat nearly all levels. The ones that are especially hard are Bruce levels, and they are SOOOO annoying! The HULK levels, if they are harder, at least you have more options to your strategy. Anyhow, the easy way around some problems with enemies is grabbing since you are invincible when grabbing, but the game is still HARD! It is actually taking me less time to do Hard mode currently because of my practice. Hard mode makes you need to act more Hulkish to beat it, although Easy mode makes his strength seem more unstoppably realistic.

Replay Value: 10

Everything is replayable. NICE! And there are challenge modes for those that get far in the game. Even though I got bored of it after a while, if you want to do anything again in the game, EASY!

Special Features (including cheats): 5

The cheats are only easy to find if you, uh... cheat by going on the internet. Some of the special features have to be unlocked, and that stinks, but some nice ones you can see off the bat are the making of the game, and trailers.

Fun Factor!: 10

This is probably one of my favorite fighting games that exists. Too bad it isn't two player, but it feels totally good to let out that RAGE onto puny humans and act as the toughest being in the universe! I think the only ones who wouldn't agree are ones with heart problems... SO ONLY PLAY THIS IF YOU ARE HEART HEALTHY!

Recommendation: 9

I really meant it when I gave this game such high ratings. Even if you get bored of it eventually, the next time you play it will get you jazzed up again. There is also that really hard challenge mode stuff to try. BUY THIS GAME or I will get ANGRY!!! Even though I'm not the HULK, you wouldn't like me when I'm angry, and that is the truth.
