Animal Crossing Review

By Denny W. Koopa

Have you ever wanted to have a new life? Be a whole new person? Live on your own? Well, now you can do that without running away and committing suicide! Just get the game- Animal Crossing!

Rated: E for Elaborated Éclairs (Yummy and Tasty)
System: NGC
Price: $20 or lower, I’d suggest the 20 dollars so you can use one memory card.

I will rate this game on a scale from 1-5, 1 the worst, 5 the best, the way X-Play does it!

Well, Animal Crossing is a unique game. It’s a life sim, just like The Sims, but what I think is even better! You start off on a train going to a place (whatever you want to call it) to get your own house. What’s the catch? You don’t have a house, and you don’t have much money! Luckily, Rover knows the town salesman, Tom Nook, who has houses you can buy. Choose one, and then Tom will start blabbing and talking, almost like Morton! He will tell you that you can pay off your mortgage whenever you can, but first, you must do about six jobs for Nook, and will get paid a little. Then, you will have to help your neighbors (all animals) to get money, or some objects like rugs, wallpaper, stationary, and my favorite, furniture! You can sell some things to Nook for some money, too! Oh by the way, the currency is “bells”.

Graphics: 4

Ooh! The world is so colorful! This game has, not perfect graphics, but really good graphics… There are thousands of objects you can use to decorate your room, each unique, like you could have chess pieces, a swimming pool, a TV, and even a flying saucer! There is also a Mario group of items which is a warp pipe, Star, Mushroom, ? Block, and all that Mario junk. I don’t know how to make it look good in the room, though. All of the neighbors have their unique rooms too!

Music/Sound: 5

The music will get so familiar that you will hum to it every time you think of the game. Outside, there is a song for every hour! Also, may I mention that all of the K.K. Songs are cool! I’ll list my top 5:

K.K. Ragtime - My favorite neighbor, Bob, has this song!
K.K. Salsa - It brings the Latin into the game, and also, the name makes me hungry!
K.K. Ska - This song is very good for all those people that can get really hyper, like me!
K.K. Bossa - This song reminds me of Sirena Beach sunsets…
K.K. Fusion - The catchiest song for me… I can hum it!

To get music, go to the train station every Saturday night at 8, and you will see a dog playing a guitar. Talk to him and he’ll play a song.

For sounds, nobody really talks, but there are a lot of instruments involved in this music. Also, there is a lot of text that comes out at the bottom, but it actually speaks the words! AWESOME! A game where you DON’T have to read!

Characters: 5

There are HUNDREDS of characters in this game, from yourself to normal neighbors. There are people in every town, like Porter, the Train Controller, and Tom Nook. There are also some special people like Gulliver, who gives special items, and Sahara, who will give you rare carpets! Also, you will start out with five neighbors, and can have up to fifteen! Who are my favorite neighbors so far?

Claude - He reminds me of Bob…
Fang - WOLFIE!
Wolfgang - WOLFIE!
Goldie -  DOGGY!
Bob - He’s lazy, just like me… and he’s in the peanut butter and jelly sandwich club!

Gameplay: 5

Once you’ve paid up your original mortgage, you can get some house upgrades!

Bigger Room
Even Bigger Room or Basement
REALLY LARGE ROOM!
A second floor

Once you've paid off all of those mortgages, you will get a statue at the train station. It’s also nice to see what changes as the seasons do. Yesterday, the ground was green from the summer, now it’s yellow for autumn! Other things you might want to do in town is make your town look good, help your neighbors, set pitfalls and push the neighbors into them, and try out new things with your room. And maybe whack the neighbors in the head with the bug net! Speaking of the nets, why not collect things for the museum?

Multiplayer: 1

The only bad side of this game, I’d say. The three other houses in your acre can be used for other people, however, only one person can play at a time. Unless you want to share the controller, but I wouldn’t think of that…

Replayability: 5

This game has NO END! One time, I went to 2030 on the GameCube, the game was still normal! I’ve never even heard of any other never ending game.

Overall: 5

This is a MUST GET game! It provides hours of fun for all ages! (Unless you’re dead.) And for the price $20 max, it’s not a bad deal!
