Story: 4
Mario is on his daily constitutional when Toadswoth comes along and invites Mario and friends on a cruise around the world. They then board the boat and then the titanic "I'm king of the world" pun comes up with them on the ship as it sails off. Bowser is watching in anger as to why they haven't invited him even after all he has done for them, and that's it besides Bowser and Koopa Kid getting ready to crash the party.
Controls and Rules: 7
Easy to learn. You select the mode, pick players and board, difficulty, bonuses, handicaps, and other easy stuff. On a board you use A to hit a dice and move the number of spaces that come up while trying to have more Stars at the end.
Characters: 7
The whole crew minus DK (good) and Koopa Kid (bad), BUT, it gains Dry Bones and Birdo (good). It gets the highest mark.
Control Room: 2
This is the option mode. You can fix the mic settings, sound setting, and a little more, but it still gets a mark for its slight helpfulness.
Duty Free Shop: 5
Here is where you buy souvenirs, music, sounds, mini-games, and even the new characters. You can also listen to sounds and music as well as check mini-game records and see what category each mini-game is in, as well as the number of unplayed games. There is also a shelf for souvenirs.
8-Player Cruise: 4
This is where you play eight-player games and nothing more.
Mini-Game Cruise: 7
This is for playing the already-played four player mini-games without having a board game in between. This is a very good mode for players who prefer the mini-games over the boards.
Solo Cruise: 22/42
This is just you against a randomly picked computer player. The winning strategy needs changing as winning is entirly different. Here is how you win. The Solo Mode mark will get 1-7 on each board separately.
Grand Canal: 1 - Get two stars first
Pagoda Peak: 3 - You must reach the
top with 100 or more coins first
Pyramid Park: 2 - Get a Chomp to run
over the Bandit and take a Star. You must then return it to the sphinx.
Neon Heights: 7- Pay for chests. Five
of the eight chests hold Stars and to win you need three. The price to
open a chese goes up by five for every chest bought.
Windmill Ville: 5 - Rebuild three windmills
first. To rebuild one you must pay the shown number of coins.
Bowser's Enchanted Inferno: 4 Get a
Star and bring it to Bowser to challenge him.
Party Cruise: 36/42
This is the heart of the game. This is where you play on the boards. I'll separately rank each
Grand Canal: 7 - Very good. It is like Venice, Italy. It has good music but has the classic Star collecting method where you race your opponent to the Star which is at a random location and pay 20 coins for it.
Pagoda Peak: 7- Like the last one, it has good music and design. It seemingly takes place in China. The idea is to get to the mountaintop and pay ten coins for a Star. After this, a cloud takes you to the bottom and the Star price goes up by 10 but stops at 40 coins.
Pyramid Park: 5 - Good design but its music isn't too good. It has a MP6 Star collecting method- pay a Chomp to run a player over, taking a Star from them. You begin with five Stars each. Pay a Chomp a certain amount of money and roll a dice to move that number of spaces. It is like Egypt.
Neon Height: 6 - Perfect design and music. The only reason it lost a point is the Star collecting method can be annoying. The idea is to get to one of three chests and pay ten coins for whatever is in it. A chest has 20 coins, 1 Star, or a bomb that blows you back to the start.
Windmill Ville: 6 - Too much like a
place out of a storybook. Good music, scary design. This is in Holland.
The idea is buy a windmill and get its contents. The winmills have between
one and three Stars. Four have one, two have two, and one has three.
The idea is to put in however much
money you want to own the windmill and its Stars. However, an opponent
can overpay you and take the windmill and Stars from you.
Bowser's Enchanted Inferno: 5 - It is the same way as Grand Canal for collecting Stars but it has bad music and a weird design. The only new thing here is that you can go one way to another island but you can take that same path back to the Star island. Each road is two ways.
Overall: 76%
A very good game. It is actually the best of the Mario Party games by far. It would seem a whole lot better if I hadn't givin option mode a mark to increase total point count and make it seem bad. RECOMMENDED!
