Here's my very first Review for the site. Points will be awarded from 1 to 5. Enjoy...

Genre: Action
Console: Gamecube, PS2, X-Box

After his big debut in Sonic Adventure 2, the dark hedgehog returns, guns in hand, ready to smash, bash, and crash his way through a huge, dark, and sinister adventure as Shadow tries to discover the mystery of his past.

Story: 4

The story is that one day, Shadow is standing on a hillside, thinking about his past. Suddenly, the sky turns red and a large army of black aliens, known as the Black Arms, rain down from the sky and immediately begin to smash everything in sight. The leader, Black Doom, comes to Shadow and claims he knows the answers to his past. Black Doom tells Shadow that he made a promise to give the aliens the Chaos Emeralds. This information causes Shadow to decide to trust Black Doom and get the Emeralds.

Music/Sounds: 4

The music is great, particularly the songs' lyrics. However, some voices are irritating, and will really grate on your nerves.

Difficulty: 3

At times, this game is very hard, and often you'll end up missing that one enemy/item that you need to destroy/find, which gets annoying. However, some stages are easy, which is a good thing.

Controls: 4

The controls are pretty good. Giving Shadow guns can make the controls slightly more fiddly, but otherwise, it's mostly like other Sonic games.

Levels: 4

Some levels are cool, and mostly have some variety. However, some areas are very similar to others.

Bosses: 3

There are very few, but the ones that are there are cool (giant, one-eyed, winged, blubbery, fire-spweing alien thing, anyone?). The final boss is also AWESOME.

Replayability: 5

Seriously, you'll be playing this game A LOT to unlock everything. Finding all of the more than 300 different story paths is a massive tasks. And the ability to decide to be good, bad, or neutral can make you go through many different paths.

Gameplay: 4

It's just like most Sonic games, except having guns and driving sections make it just feel unnatural.

Overall: 4

This is a great, if somewhat dark, game. Choosing your path is great fun, and you'll keep coming back for more, just to find all the secrets.
