ESRB Rating: E for Everyone
Players: 2
Story : ** Now as a dancing game you
might think this game cannot have a story, but you'd be wrong. The story
goes that a shadowy person has stolen the great Music Keys and without
them, a great wave of chaos will go over the Mushroom Kingdom. The game's
very short storyline is probably the worst Nintendo's come up with so far,
but it's acceptable. I took off points because it's too short.
Music: *****
Awesome music, the game's music is all
remixed tunes of other Mario games. (Makes you wonder what the original
Mario tune sounds like in this game.) I would take forever to list every
awesome song, but that would take too long.
Controls: **** 1/2
The Dance Pad is your controller in
DDR: Mario Mix. You have the up, down, left, and right buttons which, of
course, play the game. The A and B buttons are for choosing stages in story
mode and songs in free mode. The start button starts the game and the Z
button toggles Mush Mode (meaning that some arrows will be replaced by
Mario baddies and other stuff). I took off points for the lack of the X
and Y buttons.
Enemies: *****
There are lots in this game, You get
to Dance Against (where the CPU is dancing against you) with Wario, Waluigi,
Bowser, and the Hammer Brothers, and in Mush Mode there are Bob-ombs, Freezies,
Ice Spinies, Bloopers, Bullet Bills, and lots more.
Difficulty: * 1/2
Every great game has a problem, this
game's is its too short and simple. Even on Super Hard Mode, the hardest
difficulty, if you like DDR and play regularly, you're gonna get bored
real fast.
Items: ***
Yep! There are items in story mode!
The small and large heart, the magic drink, the four leaf clover, the 1-Up
Mushroom, and the magic wand are here. Still, there aren't too many in
this game. I took off points because ther is no Super Mushroom or Starman!
Fun Factor!: *** 1/2
The fact that it's too simple for veterans of DDR caused it to lose those 1 and a half stars, but if you are new to DDR or want to play a Mario game with a twist, buy this game!
