Wario Ware Inc: Mega Microgames Review

By Shy Ranger

Wario: greedy, goofy, and now, greatest game creator. His game is addictive, easy, challenging, crazy, and pick-up-and-play all at the same time.

Story
One day, Wario is watching TV. He sees a report about a great video game. He has a great idea to make money. Well, it seems his plan worked, because it is THAT good. He then has the idea of getting his friends to join the fun. He may have stopped his platforming, but later in the game you'll see he hasn't changed a bit.

Gameplay
There are 204 microgames. Each game is five seconds, making you complete one task, which is shown at the beginning of the game, such as Avoid!, Praise!, or Jump! When playing basic games, you have four lives. If you win a game, you move on, but if you fail, you lose a life and still move on. To make this harder, you never know which game will come next, so you must figure out what game it is, and beat it. After a set of games, you play a boss game. Boss games have no time limit, and are basic minigames you might find in Mario Party.
During basic games, speed ups and level ups occur to keep you moving. Speed ups makes the games faster, and level ups make the games harder. There are a max of two level ups, but speed ups can occur many times, making games go to super speeds. This helps maintain the difficult, although some hard core gamers will still feel this too easy. Also, one might get bored after unlocking everything.

Genres
Each character has 24 microgames and one boss game. The only exception is Intro, which has 12 games. Strange, smart, and still strange genres. I won't tell you too much, but the genres are interesting.

Retro Games
One of the genres includes small versions of classic NES titles, including ome that didn't make it to America. Super Mario Bros, Donkey Kong, Metroid, and F-Zero are some examples.

More Games
While playing Wario Ware, you'll uncover regular minigames, some multiplayer. Paper plane races and skateboarding are some, but the best are probably full versions of Dr. Mario and Sheriff.

Graphics
The graphics are as good as GBA games go. Most graphics are in the form of cartoony-looking games, but some games, such as the R.O.B. game, show a great picture of that robot.

Audio and Video
As with graphics, video is as good as the GBA gets. Small movies are shown before and after games. They are usually shown in slideshows. Audio is made perfect. Each song fits the game perfectly, and when it speeds up, tempo speeds up perfectly.

After Beating
After unlocking everything, you may think the game will be boring, right? WRONG! You can play every genre and microgame for the best high score. Also, this can become just like Tetris, where you can pick it up and play it in several small doses.

Overall
Wario Ware Inc: Mega Microgame$ is a new style of games. With over 200 games, this is a fast paced game. Even after beating it, you can quickly play it.

Graphics: 10. The best the GBA can offer.
Sound: 10. Great songs that follow the tempo when it speeds up.
Gameplay: 10. Easy to learn but hard when it speeds up.
Fun Factor: 10. 200+ microgames, extra games, can you get as high as they can get?

Final Words: 10 out of 10. If you don't have this game, WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU?! GO OUT AND GET IT!
