Gameplay - 5/5
Good stuff there. Lot's of new things. new stages, items, bosses, atmospheres, and things to do. Each stage has three big coins in them you need to collect to pay tolls to enter Mushroom houses and new stages on the maps. Each wor;d doesn't lead to you getting under Bowser to hit an axe. There are two unique power-ups. One is a blue Koopa shell which is more defensive because now when you duck you are protected from mostly everything. There is, however, one bad thing: moving at high speed retreats you in the shell and you'll then fly uncontrolably until you hit something and then bounce back. Getting out of this is hard and you can even lose lives this way. The other power-up is a huge Mushroom which Mario can use grow so he goes from the top to bottom of the screen and can plow through everything unharmed. This only lasts for a limited time but the more things you plow through the more free lives you get afterwards. There are now many more stages and they feature fields, forests, mountains, deserts, snowy and icy areas, the sky, and an infernal fiery place. Bowser Jr. makes his post in towers, and thereis one or two in each world. Worlds four and seven (forest and sky) can only be entered if you beat the bosses of world two and five in a special way.
Graphics - 5/5
Oh yeah! Uh-huh! Much better than the original Mario Bros. games. Everything is clear and real-looking. Bowser looks more real, Mario looks more real, every enemy and boss looks real. The backround looks great.
Sound - 3.75/5
Much more music than just the simple field, cave, underwater, castle, Starman, boss, and victory music. It has music that can blend in well with the stage. Persona'ly I like the castle music and the music in the water stages where you're chased by the bouncing puffy fish.
Characters - 4.50/5
MUCH, MUCH more. There are Pokeys, Cheep Cheep, Dry Bones, Chomps, Whomps, Thwomp, Firesnakes, Lakitus, Hammer Bros, Boomerang Bros, Fire Bros, Bowser Jr, Goombas, Koopa Troopas, and many more enemies. Mario, Luigi, and Peach are in this as well as Bowser and the addition of six very unique and new bosses.
Fun Factor - 3.25/5
It's fun the first time around. Very VERY short but sweet. Lots of new thing's to do (none so hard though).
Replay - 2/5
Not so good to go through all over again. Maybe the only reason to go through it again would be if you haven't collected all three Star Coins from each stage.
Recommendation - 5/5
Oh yeah! Get it. Even if you aren't a fan of short games you'll still love it. I highly recommend this to any Mario fan.
Overall - 28.50/35 - 82%
I recommend it. Get this game and get it as fast as you can.
